Hegseth Orders Military-Wide Stand-Down to Vote

War Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the military to hold a one-day stand-down by Oct. 15 to give service members time to vote in the midterm elections, a move he says will become standard practice in federal election years.
"We're not telling you who to vote for, but we will give you every opportunity to do so," Hegseth said in a video released Friday. "You are the best citizens of our country, and therefore you should have every opportunity to exercise your right to vote."
The directive comes as hundreds of thousands of active-duty service members remain unregistered. More than 418,000, or 23%, were not registered to vote in 2024, according to data from the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

Sen. Ted Cruz accused Vice President JD Vance of being ''insecure'' Saturday after Vance suggested the Texas Republican was already positioning himself for a 2028 presidential campaign, exposing another fault line inside the GOP just one month before the midterm elections.

OPINION:
Many positive developments are happening in America.
Yes, more work remains to be done, but the policies of democratic socialists would lead to negative outcomes for most Americans.
This is what President Trump and his allies should be talking about during the next month.
Real median household income reached $87,460 in 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That was the highest since the reporting began in 1967.
In the same period, the poverty rate decreased from 10.7% to 10.2%, the lowest in the modern reporting series.
The 2026 forecast has food-at-home inflation at 2%, according to the Department of Agriculture. That is below the 20-year historical average of 2.6%.
Growth in the national economy — as measured by gross domestic product — for the third quarter is projected at 5% annualized, according to the Federal Reserve. That is up from the previously predicted annual growth of 1.5%.
These are all good signs for the economy in 2026 and beyond. That said, there is work to be done.

Iranian Delegation Finds Out Rubio Doesn't Play If They Don't Do What U.S. Says

A limited number of members of the Iranian regime were in the U.S. to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
But when it ended on September 28, a small delegation remained, supposedly to engage in more negotiations. But then, as we reported, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that they had "overstayed their welcome" and ordered them out of the country. The entire delegation was told they had to leave on Monday.
But then, reportedly, two diplomats remained in New York.
So the U.S. told Iran’s mission to the U.N. that the U.S. was aware the diplomats had not left and dropped the hammer on them, saying they had to get out immediately.
An official indicated to Fox News Digital that the Iranians were read the riot act.

“Secretary Rubio means business. Two more members of the Iranian delegation were found still in New York long after the UN General Assembly had passed. They have now been kicked out of the country,” a U.S. official told Fox News Digital.
One diplomat left Friday night and the other Saturday morning, according to the outlet.
They apparently thought they could get around the demand. Then they found out Rubio doesn't play, and they were obviously being closely watched, as they should be while they were on U.S. soil.
Rubio eviscerated them while they were here, letting them know they had no standing to lecture us on anything.

Omani Co-Pilot Now Identified, and More Details Are Out About 'Terrorist Act'

We keep getting more information that raises big questions in the FlyDubai attempted hijacking, and why the Omani co-pilot accused in the attack was flying a flight to Israel.
As we reported, the co-pilot was banned from flying in Oman "over concerns he had adopted radical ideological views," and that, despite the ban, FlyDubai hired the man anyway, "allowing him to pilot on the sensitive route connecting the United Arab Emirates and Israel." So it needs to be determined what, if anything, the airline knew about his past history when they put him on the route.
The plane was saved through the courageous actions of the pilot, other crew members, and passengers.
But now the name of the co-pilot, and more details have come out.

Multiple sources familiar with the investigation identified the suspected attacker as 29-year-old Hamam Al Hammami.
The officials told ABC News that Al Hammami, while working as a co-pilot trainee for Oman Air in 2024, was found to be in possession of extremist materials. The suspect was allowed to continue working for the airline in an administrative role, the sources said.
Unbelievable that Oman Air let him continue in an "administrative role."
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) shared more details on the Sept. 30 attempted "terrorist act ".

Thanks to Judicial Watch, we've seen the release of more of the FBI documentation around the attempt on President Trump's life at Butler, Pennsylvania during the 2024 campaign. Some of the released information involves the testimony of members of would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks' family, while other is some information about text messages sent by and to Crooks in the weeks leading up to the attempt.
A lot of the messages have to do with 3D printing. And some of this released information is just... strange.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter in the assassination attempt at President Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on July 13, 2024, sent a series of strangely coded text messages in the months leading up to the shooting, according to records obtained by Judicial Watch.
"Did you 3D print the parts?" an individual the FBI described as an "unknown contact," messaged Crooks on Feb. 9, 2023.
"Yes, except for the fan blades," Crooks responded.
"Woah that looks cool," the unknown contact replied to Crooks, also asking about the "parts" in response to a Crooks message which the FBI redacted.
It's unclear what's meant by "fan blades," as there's nothing in any known weapon that could be described thusly; but a comment from Crooks' father did imply that Crooks attempted to make a Glock handgun with a 3D printer.

Crooks had previously attempted to use his 3D printer to create a Glock 19 handgun, his father, Matthew Crooks, told investigators, according to the documents obtained by Grassley.
"Using carbon fiber plastic, a dryer and a toaster oven, Thomas did once create a Glock 19," Matthew Crooks told investigators.
Those materials and tools, of course, would not have allowed Thomas Crooks to build a complete, functional Glock pistol. The Glock is known for its polymer frame, which can be duplicated using a 3D printer with the proper materials. Also, the frame is the part of a firearm that is serial numbered and regulated, requiring a background check and the federal Form 4473 to purchase.

The more we learn about this case, this attempt on the life of a former president and then-current presidential candidate, the stranger it all starts to look. Thomas Crooks was clearly unbalanced, but then, we knew that; anyone who tries to assassinate a public official would, by necessity, have to be coming unglued in one sense or another. And Thomas Crooks clearly was that. But what we still don't know is whether he had any help from any unknown (so far) third parties — or what was in that parcel from Hong Kong.

The United States and Australia on Oct. 2 suspended consular services in Brazil, citing security concerns ahead of the country’s high-stakes presidential elections.
The U.S. embassy in Brazil issued an alert advising U.S. citizens seeking emergency assistance to contact the appropriate duty officer instead of visiting the embassy or other diplomatic facilities.
The Australian embassy also announced its closure in a notice, advising citizens seeking urgent consular assistance to contact the consular emergency center in Canberra by phone. It also urged people not to visit U.S. diplomatic facilities in Brazil, citing the U.S. embassy’s security alert.
No details were provided about the security concerns that prompted the closures. The State Department said it coordinated with Brazilian officials to address security concerns.

On "Ed Henry: The Big Take," McLaughlin and Allocco said Trump's 32-day campaign blitz could help Republicans turn enthusiasm into votes, particularly among the voters who were crucial to his 2024 victory.

Americans Voted to Deport Illegal Aliens
One of the key messages in President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign was a pledge for "Mass Deportation Now."
It was a popular slogan at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In his speech accepting the GOP nomination, Trump said, "To keep our families safe, the Republican platform promises to launch the largest deportation operation in the history of our country."
In June of 2024, at a campaign event in Racine, WI, President Trump promised, "We’re going to have the largest deportation . . . We have no choice."
Trump's deportation promises had strong support among Americans, as a June 2024 CBS News poll showed. The results indicated 62% of Americans supported a "New National Program to Deport All Undocumented Immigrants."
After widely promoting his policies on illegal immigration in the campaign, President Trump won a historic landslide in the 2024 election.

Trump Backs Off Diesel Export Ban as G7 Releases Reserves

WASHINGTON—The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has launched its first-ever film series highlighting the horrors of life under communist rule.
The Anti-Communist Film Festival, which kicked off on Oct. 1 and runs through Oct. 4, is meant to act as a counterpoise to Hollywood’s sometimes-rosy depiction of communist ideology, festival creator Mark Judge told The Epoch Times.
“They’ve owned cinema for 50 years, and we want to push back on that a little bit,” Judge said. He also told attendees of the inaugural event that he hoped to make it an annual affair and to expand it to other cities.
Tickets are free and can be obtained at the event’s website, but seating is quite limited. Complimentary popcorn and soda were served on its first day.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin said a migrant caravan heading toward the U.S. southern border from Mexico would be rebuffed if it reaches the border area.
There is “zero chance we allow them to enter the United States,” he told Fox News in a recent interview, adding that “we’re not allowing them to enter.”
“We believe that this caravan will probably break up” before it reaches the border, Mullin said.
He said that he believes its members are trying to pressure Mexico’s government into granting them asylum.
Meanwhile, those migrants who have claimed asylum in Mexico are now precluded from trying to do the same in the United States, Mullin said.

Group of Seven (G7) nations will release up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from their strategic reserves over the next four months.
French President Emmanuel Macron, head of the G7 leaders’ meeting on Oct. 2, confirmed that the supply injection will be coordinated by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
“Facing unprecedented volatility in oil markets—with surging prices threatening economic stability and the well-being of our citizens—we have agreed on decisive, coordinated measures to stabilize immediate energy supplies, shield households and businesses from price shocks, and strengthen the long-term resilience of global energy systems,” the G7 said in a joint statement on Oct. 2.

White House: DSA Agenda Would Cost $49 Trillion

The White House Council of Economic Advisers said Thursday that implementing major policies backed by the Democratic Socialists of America would impose a nearly $49 trillion net fiscal burden over the next decade, as Republicans seek to make the group's growing influence an issue in the midterm elections.
The 92-page report, titled "The Real Cost of Socialism in America," examined eight elements of the DSA's "Workers Deserve More" agenda, including Medicare for all, student debt cancellation and free college, immigration policies, universal rent control, a Green New Deal, a 32-hour workweek, a wealth tax, and changes to policing and incarceration.
Seven of those policies could be scored against the federal budget and would carry a gross cost of $52.84 trillion from 2027 through 2036, according to the report.

The Philippines deployed its largest Coast Guard vessel and an aircraft to drive a Chinese research ship out of waters off Batanes, near Taiwan, on Oct. 1.
Batanes is the Philippines’ northernmost province, a group of islands in the Luzon Strait between the main Philippine island of Luzon and Taiwan. Itbayat is one of the province’s main islands.
The Chinese research ship JIA HAI KE 7 had remained about 38 nautical miles northwest of Itbayat for four days, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The Coast Guard said the ship was conducting marine scientific research inside the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) without Manila’s permission.
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, foreign vessels must obtain a nation’s consent to conduct research within its 200-nautical-mile EEZ.

Blackburn to Newsmax: Dems Deny GOP Wins Ahead of Midterms

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., accused Senate Democrats Thursday of blocking voter identification requirements, congressional stock trading restrictions, and protections against data center electricity costs to deny Republicans legislative victories before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
“First of all, they don't want to give Republicans a win, so they would rather go against the will of the American people, roll the dice and think that they are going to win on Nov. 3,” Blackburn told Newsmax in an interview on "National Report."
Her comments followed Wednesday's 53-47 procedural vote on the Stop Insider Trading Act, which included a voter ID provision. The measure fell seven votes short of the 60 needed to advance.
The House passed the legislation 232-198 in July, with 13 Democrats supporting it. The bill would generally prohibit lawmakers, their spouses and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks and require advance notice of stock sales.
It would allow them to retain existing holdings.
Blackburn said she supports banning stock trading by lawmakers and their families because members receive sensitive information through congressional briefings.
“My husband and I do not buy stocks,” she said.
She acknowledged blind trusts as another approach to addressing potential conflicts of interest.
