Trump Says He’s Urged Restraint From Countries Offering to ‘Straighten Out Hamas’
The U.S. president described hardening international opposition toward Hamas amid challenges to an ongoing Gaza cease-fire.

President Donald Trump said a network of nations in and around the Middle East is eagerly seeking a chance to “straighten out Hamas,” but he’s calling for restraint for now.
“Numerous of our NOW GREAT ALLIES in the Middle East, and areas surrounding the Middle East, have explicitly and strongly, with great enthusiasm, informed me that they would welcome the opportunity, at my request, to go into GAZA with a heavy force and ’straighten [out] Hamas’ if Hamas continues to act badly, in violation of their agreement with us,” Trump wrote on Oct. 21 in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The president’s remarks come after the Israeli government alleged the Hamas terrorist group had violated a cease-fire agreement that the Trump administration helped broker for the Gaza Strip. Qatar and Egypt also worked to mediate the deal.
The president said the outpouring of support to go after Hamas demonstrates a love and spirit in the Middle East that “has not been seen like this in a thousand years!” Still, Trump said he was electing to wait and see how Hamas acts. “I told these countries, and Israel, ‘NOT YET!’ There is still hope that Hamas will do what is right. If they do not, an end to Hamas will be FAST, FURIOUS, & BRUTAL!” Trump’s social media post said.
