Steve Forbes to Newsmax: Trump Knows He Must Work Fast

President Donald Trump has been moving at a breakneck pace to shake up the federal government, especially by utilizing the Department of Government Efficiency run by Elon Musk.

Steve Forbes, chair and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, told Newsmax on Thursday that Trump learned lessons from his first administration that if he doesn't rapidly advance his agenda, he might not get a lot done.

"Elon Musk epitomizes that," Forbes told "Rob Schmitt Tonight." "In a real entrepreneurship, things do look like a mess. Things do look like Helter Skelter, but if you're going to get things done, you have to move, and move quickly.

"I think Trump, after his first term, realized that if you don't move fast, yeah, you're going to have some setbacks along the way. But if you don't move fast and big, you're going to end up with very little."

Forbes said Trump has done more in two-and-a-half weeks in office than what most presidents could do in two-and-a-half years.

"One of the things I hope he gets to next week … as he puts the pressure on Congress to get a nice, big, fat, beautiful tax cut bill and get it through quickly," he said. "So, we [can] have a really vibrant economy going into the congressional elections next year."

Forbes applauded the work Musk and DOGE have done to streamline the federal government, cutting the workforce and citing fraud and abuse in the U.S. Agency for International Development.

"You're going to see it in other sectors of the government, especially the massive waste in Medicare and Medicaid, which he's beginning to attack, and also changing the way we do things, especially our air traffic control system, which has obsolete equipment, one of the worst in the developed world," Forbes said. "It's shameful that we have an obsolete system in our aircraft system of ferrying around passengers today."
