New Year's Eve state-by-state events guide: Where and when to watch the fireworks

New Year's Eve is the last day of the year, every year.

And yet the event still manages to sneak up on most Australians as we slowly digest our Christmas dinners.

But there's events on in every major city (and many smaller cities and towns) which don't need much planning. All you need to do is rock up.

Here's the big New Year's Eve events on in each major city in Australia.

Sydney

Sydney prides itself on its New Year's Eve celebrations more than any other event in the city.

From 8.30pm, projections will be made on the pylons of the Harbour Bridge ahead of the 9pm fireworks.
