Syria security forces killed in Damascus

A car bomb has exploded near a police station in Damascus, killing at least eight Syrian security forces as fighting rages between rebels and regime forces.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the explosion, in the east of the capital, appears to have been carried out by the extremist Al-Nusra Front, which is allied with al-Qaeda, although there is no immediate confirmation.
There was no immediate information on the attack on Syrian state media.
