REP. JIM BANKS: America Can Only Move Forward Once We Defeat The Left’s Radicalism

Rep. Jim Banks Contributor September 18, 2024 1:29 PM ET House Republicans are getting serious about taking the fight to woke ideology. The House votes Wednesday on a key piece of legislation I’m leading to combat the ESG agenda. ESG, which stands for “environmental, social and governance,” is one of the many ways the left attempts to force its extreme views on gender, race and climate on the American public. The Providing Complete Information to Retirement Investors Act ensures that retirees are fully informed of the risks of investing their retirement savings in funds that promote wokeism. Americans’ hard-earned savings should not be used to prop up the radical left agenda. My bill is part of a larger package of anti-woke bills from Republican lawmakers dedicated to standing up to far-left ideologues.

I know wokeism firsthand. Following my vote on Jan. 6th, several Fortune 500 companies put me on a donation blacklist. Twitter, now known as X, suspended my government account for “misgendering” a Biden-Harris HHS official. These experiences have inspired me to fight even harder against the woke ideology that is harming our country. Last year I founded – and now currently chair – the House Anti-Woke Caucus, the first of its kind in Congress. I’ve made anti-woke legislation a priority, proposing bills that would defund Biden’s executive order forcing its view of “racial equity” on all 23 federal agencies, require public schools to consult with parents before talking to their children about gender transition and give minors harmed by transgender surgery the right to sue the quacks who inflicted it upon them.

Wokeism is an illness infecting America. It is high time that our elected leaders wake up to the danger it poses to our wellbeing as a nation.
