Former President Donald Trump has certainly had a busy day.

He was in Miami, Florida earlier in the day to plead
not guilty to a 37-count indictment in the classified document case. As we noted, there were a lot of supporters out for him. A protester jumped out in front of his motorcade and found out that wasn’t a good idea. He also stopped at an iconic Cuban restaurant, was prayed over by patrons, and bought them food.

Then, on Tuesday night, he gave a speech from Trump National Golf Club, in Bedminster, N.J. Trump called the case a “political persecution,” like out of a Communist nation, and election interference. “But they will fail and we will win!’ Trump said. He ridiculed them charging him under the Espionage Act and threatening him with “400 years in prison” for possessing his own presidential papers. It has nothing to do with a former president keeping his own documents, Trump said, contending that they are applying the wrong law. Not only wasn’t Clinton considered for prosecution, Trump said, the case determined that he had the right to his records. He said the case determined it was up to the president in his sole discretion.

He chastised the “corrupt” Biden administration’s decision that resulted in his being pursued. Whatever documents the president takes with him, he has the right to do it, Trump insisted. Yet, he had been doing all he could to cooperate with NARA anyway. He said that given the history of how presidential records have been dealt with in the past, no other president has been investigated over things like this, but they were going after him.
