U.S., India Sign Military-Intelligence-Sharing Agreement
But U.S. sanctions complicate the nations’ quest for closer cooperation

NEW DELHI—The U.S. and India signed an agreement Thursday to usher in closer military and intelligence cooperation between the world’s largest democracies.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis met with their Indian counterparts, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a high-level meeting aimed at deepening ties between the two countries.
