Trump taps New York Rep. Elise Stefanik for U.N. ambassador

President-elect Donald Trump selected Rep. Elise Stefanik to be his ambassador to the United Nations on Sunday, and she accepted the nomination.

“I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Mr. Trump told The New York Post on Sunday.

Ms. Stefanik was first elected to Congress in 2014 at the age of 30, making her the youngest woman to join the House at the time. She’s represented New York’s 21st congressional district for roughly a decade.

The New York Republican has been an ally to the former president during the numerous probes against him, and she’s served as the fourth-ranking Republican lawmaker in the House.
