Trump: Newsmax Dropped for 'Political Reasons'

Former President Donald Trump denounced AT&T DirecTV for "political" discrimination over its deplatforming of Newsmax last month, but he also predicted on Monday that free speech would ultimately prevail.

"This was done for political reasons, and they're going to end up winning that," Trump told the "Todd Starnes Show." "They're going to end up winning."

DirecTV said it was removing the conservative news channel as a "cost-cutting" move; it made a similar claim after it deplatformed OAN, another popular conservative news operation, last year.

Newsmax was seeking a small license fee, as the nation's 4th highest-rated cable news channel.

"I think it's a disgrace," Trump told Starnes. "Newsmax has done a fantastic job. So many of the people in there, almost all of them, if you look. What a great job they've done."
