Google to pay $391.5M settlement over location tracking, state AGs say

Google has agreed to pay a $391.5 million settlement to 40 states to resolve an investigation into the tech behemoth’s practice of tracking people’s locations, state attorneys general said Monday.
Investigators said Google’s location tracking violated state consumer protection laws after reports suggested that the company tracked people even after they told the company not to do so.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican, said it is time for Big Tech to recognize state laws that limit data collection efforts.
