Rep. McGuire to Newsmax: Iran Talks Won't Work, Time to 'Finish the Job'

Rep. John McGuire, R-Va., said Friday he does not believe the United States can successfully negotiate with Iran because its ruling regime is rooted in an "ideology of death," arguing the Trump administration may ultimately have to "finish the job" to eliminate the threat.

During an appearance on Newsmax's "Wake Up America," the Navy SEAL veteran also said he is not concerned that taking tougher military action against Iran could hurt Republicans in the November midterm elections.

McGuire praised President Donald Trump's national security team but said their efforts were unlikely to succeed with a regime he described as the world's leading sponsor of terrorism.

"President Trump and his administration all-star team, they're very smart. [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio, [Vice President] JD Vance, [Trump son-in-law] Jared Kushner, [U.S. special envoy] Steve Witkoff — they're great negotiators," he said. "But it's a regime of terror, an ideology of death."
