Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday likened the Department of Homeland Security's new Disinformation Governance Board under President Joe Biden to the ominous "Ministry of Truth" from George Orwell's dystopian novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four," Breitbart reported.

DeSantis, a Republican, also criticized agency head Nina Jankowicz – a disinformation expert who previously worked for the Wilson Center and whose history includes criticism of the now-confirmed Hunter Biden laptop story, according to the New York Post.

As reported by the Washington Post, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas mentioned the creation of the board in multiple congressional hearings this week. In thos hearings, he also described the creation as serving various functions, the Post said: combating misinformation from human smugglers, or countering Russian attempts at cyberspace disruptions and election interference.

The U.S. economy unexpectedly tanking in the first quarter of the year has created a nightmare scenario for President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party ahead of the midterms elections.

The gross domestic product (GDP) dropped at an annualized rate of 1.4% between January and March, the worst shrinkage since the country’s economic shutdown in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, CNN reported Thursday. Recent polling has found that Biden will have to change voters’ perceptions on the current state of the economy for Democrats to have any hope in November.

A Gallup poll released Wednesday found that 42% of Americans believe economic conditions are “poor,” while 32% said the economy is in fair shape. Over three quarters of Americans, 76%, said the economy is getting worse while less than one quarter, 20%, said it is improving.

Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, which measures the public’s feelings about the economy on a scale of +100 being very high and -100 being very low, currently stands at -39. The poll surveyed 1,018 adults between April 1-19 with a 4% margin of error.

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy ripped Department of Homeland (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a Thursday hearing, showing photos of those who have died due to the ongoing border crisis.

During Roy’s time to question Mayorkas during the House Judiciary Committee, he grilled Mayorkas with photos of dead bodies, mobile morgues, dead livestock and more. Roy and Republicans have continued to press Mayorkas about the crisis at the border.

“Mr. Secretary, do you know what this is? This is a mobile morgue, a body trailer needed by counties in south Texas overwhelmed by dead migrants. That particular trailer is filled with these bodies. Twenty-seven bodies that were stored in this mobile morgue in south Texas with dead bodies of migrants. Dead bodies like this one found on a ranch just three weeks ago in south Texas, a dead migrant. Somehow that’s compassion,” Roy said to Mayorkas.

We’ve reported in the past that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) have been trying to highlight some of the concerning questions involving Hunter Biden, James Biden, and the connections to businesses related to foreign governments, including the Chinese.

Now, it looks like the House Republicans are on it as well, and they are demanding answers and documents from Hunter’s business associate, Eric Schwerin, on Joe Biden’s connections to it all. More senators are getting involved, as well.

Eric Schwerin was the president of Rosemont Seneca Partners, Hunter Biden’s firm. But remember when Joe Biden said he didn’t know anything about his son’s business? He certainly knew something about Schwerin, because according to the emails, Schwerin was intimately acquainted with Joe Biden’s finances, even so far as receiving Joe’s tax refund check. The emails also showed there was a lot of conflating of funds — with Hunter paying for Joe’s bills and Joe paying for Hunter. That means that anything that Hunter may have taken in from his foreign dealings, including those connected to foreign governments, may also have benefitted Joe Biden.

Piers Morgan conducted himself in a "despicable" manner during his recent interview with former President Donald Trump, according to British broadcaster and former politician Nigel Farage on Newsmax.

"We all know there are bad cases of journalism, but this is despicable," Farage told Wednesday's "Greg Kelly Reports." "There's no other word for it."

Farage said the way Morgan edited the at-times testy interview was "dishonest," and the interview had concluded after an extended period before Trump walked off. It then edited to show the former president storming out on Morgan.

New York's highest court sided with Republicans on Wednesday in a decision that invalidated Democrats' redistricting map after finding it was gerrymandered in a "partisan" manner to give advantages to Democrat candidates.

The new district map was created and passed by the Democrat-controlled state legislature after an independent redistricting commission deadlocked and was unable to reach an agreement on how to draw districts following the 2020 Census.

After the commission failed to reach an agreement on new congressional lines, "[t]he legislature responded by creating and enacting maps in a nontransparent manner controlled exclusively by the dominant political party," the New York appeals court concluded.

The corporate legacy media partners of the Democratic Party are caught in a trap over their determination to ignore the Hunter Biden scandal in October 2020. This trap is one they willingly walked into, and the trap was laid by Joe Biden himself.

This trap could, and should, lead to the impeachment of President Biden.

The Republican primary for Wyoming’s lone congressional seat is shaping up to be one of the most high-stakes intra-party battles we’ve seen in a long time. Three-term incumbent Rep. Liz Cheney is being challenged by Harriet Hageman, the Trump-endorsed conservative outsider.

Ms. Cheney has drawn this formidable opponent from the right because she sided with unhinged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi by voting to impeach former President Donald Trump for the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol before an investigation was conducted to find out what happened. It was an irresponsible and foolish move by Ms. Cheney that completely ignored House precedent and the rule of law, and taints any future necessary impeachment inquiries. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am supporting Ms. Hageman’s candidacy now and was a supporter of Ms. Cheney in the past before Trump Derangement Syndrome got the best of her.

Rep. Ronny Jackson isn’t just a member of Congress from Texas, he’s a doctor.

And he’s not just any old doctor, he served as a White House physician under former Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump. That means he’s seen firsthand the rigors of the job and the toll it takes on the men who hold it.

“I was a White House physician to three U.S. Presidents, and I can tell you something isn’t right with Joe Biden’s cognitive state,” Mr. Jackson said in a recent Facebook post. And back in June 2021, the doctor referred to “a clear decline of Biden’s cognitive ability.”

Let’s square something first: Getting old is a b——. We’re all (hopefully) going to do it, and we’re all going to lose flexibility, mobility and eventually our mental acuity. It’s simply life. There’s no other option.

But we’re also not likely to be the most powerful person in the world at 79 years old.

Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday defended the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis and said DHS has spent $72 million in costs to shut down construction of former President Donald Trump’s border wall.

“We inherited a broken and dismantled system that is already under strain,” Mayorkas said during a hearing before the House Appropriations DHS Subcommittee hearing Wednesday. “It was not built to manage the current levels of migration flow.”

“Only Congress can fix it,” he insisted.

The Biden administration has chipped away at law and order, as well as following the Constitution regarding its policies on securing the nation's borders, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush told Newsmax's "John Bachman Now" on Wednesday.

Bush who is a candidate for Texas attorney general, said that he is proposing an idea similar to what Arizona has done in order to "allow local law enforcement to do the job that this administration is unwilling to do" in securing the borders.

He added that Texas must "assert our own sovereignty on our own border," because the Biden administration is not doing that.
