Ukraine International Airlines plane crashes in Iran shortly after takeoff

A plane has crashed in Iran shortly after takeoff with 180 people on board. No one is believed to have survived the accident.

A Ukrainian airplane carrying 180 passengers and crew crashed Wednesday near an airport in the capital, Tehran, state TV reported.

Iran state media has reportedly confirmed everyone on board was killed.

The plane had taken off from Imam Khomeini International Airport, the report said.

The crash is suspected to have been caused by mechanical issues, it added, without elaborating.

A video has emerged which appears to show the plane on fire in the sky before it crashes, however this has not been verified.
