To Preserve Stability in the Asia-Pacific, Finish the Pivot
Strong U.S. engagement is an essential bulwark against China’s ambitions.

In direct violation of international law, China recently installed antiaircraft and other short-range defensive weapons systems on all of its claimed artificial islands in the South China Sea. On three of the seven features, China is now building structures apparently designed to house long-range surface-to-air missiles.
