GOP Cheers Musk's Midterm Involvement

Tech mogul Elon Musk is ready to use his financial might and large megaphone to help Republicans win the upcoming midterm elections.
Musk, who six months ago had a falling out with President Donald Trump, recently made a $10 million donation to support Republican Kentucky Senate candidate Nate Morris.
The GOP is hopeful he will help them maintain their majorities in both houses of Congress, Politico reported.
Musk donated $10 million to a Republican super PAC aimed at preserving the House and Senate majorities.
The tech CEO has reconciled with Trump and has used his bully pulpit on X, which he owns, to call on Senate Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, which would prevent noncitizens from voting and restrict mail-in voting.
"America is toast if the radical left wins," Musk wrote on X this month.
"They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. Won’t be America anymore," Musk said.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were spotted searching the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center, the county's central election facility, reportedly in connection with matters related to the 2020 presidential election.
The action comes just one week after President Trump, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, predicted that prosecutions were imminent over what he described as the "rigged" election.
Fox News Digital reports that "agents were seen entering" the Election Hub, something they describe as "a new facility that state officials opened in 2023 that was designed to streamline their election processes."
A post on X further indicated the FBI was "executing a search warrant."
The outlet notes that while it "was not immediately clear what the FBI agents were investigating," sources have advised them that "the probe is related to the 2020 election."
RedState reached out to FBI Director Kash Patel's office regarding the matter. A spokesperson declined to comment but said they were "not waving off" the report.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Tuesday suggested that the Trump administration might take more aggressive action to help the people of Iran amid the government’s brutal crackdown on nationwide protests.
During an appearance with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Graham praised Trump’s approach to Iran, calling him “Reagan plus.” He said the president is “a man of peace, but not to be trifled with.”
The senator said Trump sent a message to those protesting in Iran to “keep protesting, help is on the way.”
Graham pointed out that the Iranian regime “is the largest state sponsor of terrorism” and that “they killed probably 30,000 of their people.”
The lawmaker then stated, “Help will be on the way. I’m not going to say any more.”
Graham then pointed out that “the Mullahs in Iran are now trying to reach Donald Trump and make some last-minute deal.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio slammed Democrats before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Wednesday pointing out which countries actually opposed the raid on Nicolás Maduro, and highlighting that the rest of the Western Hemisphere welcomed the U.S. for ousting a dictator without sparking a wider conflict.
"But our anticipation is that we are going to be able to work cooperatively with them [Venezuela] because its in their interest and ours," Rubio said. "But I will point out this, after this operation happened, look at the people who criticized it. China, Russia, Iran, Hamas, these are the people who were upset about this raid and what we did. And I can tell you that in many countries in the Western Hemisphere, there was great pleasure in the fact that Maduro was removed, and it didn't involve an all out war or an invasion."

Tariffs are critical to President Trump’s fiscal policies and efforts to redirect growth toward manufacturing.
Depending on which tax cuts and additional spending initiatives lapse or are extended, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act will add $340 billion to $470 billion annually to the federal deficit through 2034.
Mr. Trump, relying on authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and provisions of the Trade Act, has raised average tariffs on imports from 2.3% to 17%.

OPINION:
Secretary Kristi Noem has been an effective, strong, determined and unrelenting leader at the Department of Homeland Security — and this is why Democrats want her gone.
And this is why Republicans need to coalesce around her and refuse to bow to pressures from Democrats to have her ousted. Yes, Noem serves at the pleasure of President Trump. But Trump is not immune to pressures from his own party; to pressures from the political world.
This is no time for politics, petty or otherwise. The future of our nation’s national security is at stake. If Democrats win on Noem — if Republicans cave on Noem — then Democrats will use and exploit her ouster as fuel to the fire they’ve lit to burn the entire MAGA and America First movement.
Remember: Democrats don’t quit. They only dig in deeper. To them, existence is all about politics; they are the party of anti-God. They are the party of rebellion and wickedness and mayhem and deceit and death. They are the party of collectivists; they oppose all-things-individualist, which sets them in direct opposition to America’s founding principles.
“GOP on defense over Noem’s future as Congress nears shutdown deadline,” The Hill wrote in a headline.
“A growing number of Senate Democrats are calling for Noem to be ousted,” casting doubts on the prospect that they would agree to any concessions from President Trump to avoid a shutdown at the end of this week if Noem remains in charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” The Hill wrote.
Democrats say it’s because of the fatal shootings by ICE of two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis.
But that’s just the cover.

That, he said, includes no long-term plan to leave the remnants of the "corrupt" Nicolas Maduro regime — namely sworn-in successor Delcy Rodriguez — in place without a new democratic process.
"In the long term, by no means is our policy to leave in place something permanent that's as corrupt as you've described," Rubio told Ranking Member Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., in his hearing.
Rubio left open the possibility of future military action in Venezuela if Rodriguez does not act responsibly but stopped short of committing to a timetable for the regime to work toward a new democratic election in the next "three, four, five" months.

The United States is officially out of the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty in which 195 signatory nations pledged to reduce CO2 emissions to control global temperatures.
President Donald Trump announced America’s withdrawal one year ago, stating in Executive Order 14162 that such agreements “do not reflect our country’s values or our contributions to the pursuit of economic and environmental objectives” and that they “steer American taxpayer dollars to countries that do not require, or merit, financial assistance in the interests of the American people.”
Trump has been a strong advocate of increasing America’s energy production, with particular emphasis on oil, gas, coal, and nuclear energy. Trump stated upon taking office in 2025 that it was “in the national interest to unleash America’s affordable and reliable energy and natural resources” to meet the rapidly growing demand for energy due to, among other things, the rise of artificial intelligence and the proliferation of data centers.

"I think she's done a very good job," Trump said as he departed the White House. "The border is totally secure."

The Treasury Department announced Monday that it is canceling all contracts with consulting giant Booz Allen Hamilton, citing the firm’s link to a massive data breach that led to the leak of President Donald Trump’s tax returns to the press.
Treasury has 31 separate contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton that will be cancelled, totaling roughly $4.8 million in annual spending and $21 million in overall obligations. Between 2018 and 2020, Booz Allen Hamilton employee Charles Edward Littlejohn stole and leaked the confidential tax returns and return information of hundreds of thousands of taxpayers, including Trump.
“President Trump has entrusted his cabinet to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, and canceling these contracts is an essential step to increasing Americans’ trust in government,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in a statement. “Booz Allen failed to implement adequate safeguards to protect sensitive data, including the confidential taxpayer information it had access to through its contracts with the Internal Revenue Service.” (RELATED: Here’s A List Of Delays And Waste By Defense Contractors Meeting With Hegseth)

France is big mad that a key world leader gave them the skinny: in a war against, say, Russia, the French and other European nations would get absolutely steamrolled without America’s support.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte — who’s also a fan of President Donald Trump in some respects, at least relative to his European counterparts — said Monday that without U.S. support, NATO isn’t really up to the task of defending Europe.
“If anyone thinks here again that the European Union, or Europe as a whole, can defend itself without the US, keep on dreaming. You can’t. We can’t. We need each other,” Rutte said, addressing the European Parliament in Brussels.
He also dropped a harsh but much-needed reality check: if NATO countries want to protect themselves without America’s help, they’d better get serious on defense spending; 10% of the budget, at least, Rutte said. They would also need to build their own nuclear weapons, which would be time-consuming and costly.

France’s lower house of parliament on Jan. 26 backed legislation to ban children under 15 from accessing social media amid concerns over young people’s mental health and exposure to violent content.
The bill passed with 130 in favor, 21 against, and six abstentions. It now heads to the Senate—the upper house—before it returns to the National Assembly for a final vote.
Presenting the bill to the lower house, Laure Miller, a lawmaker from the Committee on Cultural Affairs and Education, said social networks “are anything but harmless.” She outlined hundreds of pieces of evidence collected for a parliamentary inquiry, which included videos of a violent nature and tutorials on suicide and self-harm.

A federal appeals court on Jan. 26 granted the Trump administration a full stay of a lower court ruling that prevented ICE agents from detaining protesters or using nonlethal munitions and crowd dispersal tools during protests in Minnesota without probable cause.
In its ruling, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel said that U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez’s Jan. 16 injunction was “too vague” and that the Department of Homeland Security has made “a strong showing” that its challenge is likely to succeed on the merits.
The three-judge panel said they reviewed videos of the protests presented to the district court, which showed observers and protesters engaging in “a wide range of conduct” and federal agents’ handling of the situation.

Global Silence Deafening Over Iran's War Against Its Own People

When Iran kills its own people, the absence of popular anger on the streets and campuses of the West is itself a form of noise — a silence speaking loudly.
This does not mean, at the governmental level, there has not been determined and unambiguous condemnation of Iran.
Donald Trump's recent decision not to launch immediate military action against Iran is not restraint, hesitation, or retreat, but a tactical delay — taking into consideration the deployment of U.S. military resources and perhaps an opportunity for Iran convincingly changing its political and military posture — in the same way that earlier pauses preceded the B-2 bomber strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Yet what remains missing is widespread popular outrage.
Iran's war against its own people has produced hesitation and indifference among large segments of public opinion — including in many of the same academic and cultural environments which recently mobilized intensely during the Gaza war.
Young Iranians are beaten, imprisoned, and killed for demanding freedom. They are not confronting a foreign enemy.
They are confronting their own government.
Yet while their courage appears in parts of the western media, it has not generated widespread grassroots outrage.
During the Gaza war, public emotion influenced politics, media, and institutions. Whatever one thinks of that conflict, one fact is clear: public outrage mattered.
In Iran, there is no comparable mobilization.
This absence reflects not only moral confusion, but a troubling absence of moral judgment.
Some attempt to compare Israel in Gaza with Iran suppressing its own people.
But the situations are fundamentally different.
Gaza was a battlefield shaped in large part by Iran's proxy strategy — financing, arming, and directing groups that deliberately targeted civilians.
Iran helped create a form of warfare in which civilians had nowhere to escape.
In Iran itself, there is no battlefield. There is repression.
The regime fires into unarmed crowds.
It arrests teenagers.
It executes dissent.
The victim and the executioner share the same nationality.
Moreover, Iran has inflicted, by some estimates, more than 10,000 civilian deaths in less than a month — a rate of killing so extreme that even the most aggressive messaging and casualty framing used by Hamas-aligned outlets during the Israel-Gaza war did not claim anything comparable in a single month.
Public outrage helps shape media priorities, diplomatic language, and institutional behavior. Silence is never neutral.
Iran is not a peripheral actor in Middle Eastern violence.
It's one of its central organizers — exporting instability, financing armed groups, and repeatedly using civilian suffering as a strategic tool.

When Iran kills its own people, the absence of popular anger on the streets and campuses of the West is itself a form of noise — a silence speaking loudly.

FBI Director Kash Patel said more arrests are coming in Minnesota in the midst of a federal operation and local protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and said the bureau has made progress in its investigation of groups who are allegedly funding the demonstrations.
Speaking to podcaster Benny Johnson on Monday, the FBI director said the bureau is investigating alleged group funding of ongoing protests against ICE officials in Minneapolis, coming in the wake of two shootings this month that left protesters dead.
“We’ve got also investigations ongoing into the funding of this. We’ve made substantial progress,“ he said. ”We’ve actually found groups and individuals responsible for funding it ‘cause it’s not happening organically.”

OPINION:
After the removal of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, President Trump made his position about China’s presence in the Western Hemisphere clear to the world. In a White House meeting, he told Beijing, “We don’t want you there. You’re not going to be there.”
He also made clear that there is a difference between selling products to China and giving Beijing a strategic foothold in the hemisphere to actively thwart American interests. Although China will continue to buy oil and other products, its attempt to co-opt the ownership and access to strategic assets and infrastructure will end.
The U.S. National Security Strategy published in November promised to rid the hemisphere of “hostile foreign incursion,” secure our access to “key strategic locations” and deny adversarial ownership of America’s “strategically vital assets.” With Mr. Maduro out, the Trump administration sets out to secure those promises.

The Chinese Communist Party has placed two senior generals under criminal investigation, including the most powerful officer of the People’s Liberation Army, the Defense Ministry announced Saturday.
Gen. Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the powerful Central Military Commission, and CMC Gen. Liu Zhenli, chief of staff of the PLA joint staff department, face probes for “serious discipline and law violations,” according to a ministry statement.
The CCP Central Committee, the party’s highest governing body, ordered the investigation, the ministry said in a statement.

The Chinese Communist Party has placed two senior generals under criminal investigation, including the most powerful officer of the People’s Liberation Army, the Defense Ministry announced Saturday.
Gen. Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the powerful Central Military Commission, and CMC Gen. Liu Zhenli, chief of staff of the PLA joint staff department, face probes for “serious discipline and law violations,” according to a ministry statement.
The CCP Central Committee, the party’s highest governing body, ordered the investigation, the ministry said in a statement.

President Donald Trump on Sunday called on Democrat governors and mayors nationwide to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, warning on Truth Social that refusal to do so has created "dangerous circumstances" and led to the deaths of two American citizens.
Trump outlined four specific actions he said Democrat officials must take to assist his administration's immigration enforcement efforts:
* Turn over all criminal illegal migrants currently held in state prisons and local jails — as well as those with active warrants or known criminal histories — to federal authorities for immediate deportation.
* Transfer custody of all illegal migrants arrested by local police to federal immigration officials.
* Require local law enforcement to assist federal authorities in apprehending and detaining illegal migrants wanted for crimes.

The decision is a bad one from an unpopular and misguided administration, and it is sure to complicate the increasingly fraught relationship between Britain and its foremost ally, the United States.
On Jan. 20, the Starmer government announced that it would allow the Chinese to build the biggest diplomatic facility in Europe, 614,000 square feet in central London. The building’s size reveals China’s ambitions, which, with China’s recent pattern of behavior, are sparking concern.

We live in interesting times, in the "ancient Chinese curse" sense. In recent weeks, our cities are once again blazing with leftist rage. They always take the part of criminals and thugs over decent Americans, so we shouldn't be surprised that this year's outrage is over the Trump administration's rounding up and repatriating dangerous people who are in the country illegally. The left has never, it seems, found a thug, criminal, even a violent sex offender or drug dealer they won't race to defend.
Summer's coming. It promises to be a hot one. This year's rioting and uprising may surpass the summer of 2020, when the left ignored the COVID protocols they pushed for to riot, loot, and burn over the death of a thug and addict. So what do we have to look forward to?
In the short term, I am not and have not been optimistic. I think this summer is going to be a turning point. The Trump administration shows no signs of backing down on the mass deportations that we voted for, that we put President Trump in office to do. President Trump is, in this as in many other things, simply doing what he had always said he would. And that's where I start to feel a little less pessimistic.
The repatriations are continuing. ICE and DHS aren't backing down. President Trump, unlike his first term, has assembled a team of people who have no craps left to give about what the left thinks. They are getting their jobs done. Secretary of War (I will never get tired of writing that), Pete Hegseth, is reforming our armed forces into a cadre of warriors. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is pushing ahead with getting illegal aliens out of our country, and she's succeeding, to the tune of two million to date.

Can We Take America Back? Yes.

We live in interesting times, in the "ancient Chinese curse" sense. In recent weeks, our cities are once again blazing with leftist rage. They always take the part of criminals and thugs over decent Americans, so we shouldn't be surprised that this year's outrage is over the Trump administration's rounding up and repatriating dangerous people who are in the country illegally. The left has never, it seems, found a thug, criminal, even a violent sex offender or drug dealer they won't race to defend.
Summer's coming. It promises to be a hot one. This year's rioting and uprising may surpass the summer of 2020, when the left ignored the COVID protocols they pushed for to riot, loot, and burn over the death of a thug and addict. So what do we have to look forward to?
In the short term, I am not and have not been optimistic. I think this summer is going to be a turning point. The Trump administration shows no signs of backing down on the mass deportations that we voted for, that we put President Trump in office to do. President Trump is, in this as in many other things, simply doing what he had always said he would. And that's where I start to feel a little less pessimistic.
The repatriations are continuing. ICE and DHS aren't backing down. President Trump, unlike his first term, has assembled a team of people who have no craps left to give about what the left thinks. They are getting their jobs done. Secretary of War (I will never get tired of writing that), Pete Hegseth, is reforming our armed forces into a cadre of warriors. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is pushing ahead with getting illegal aliens out of our country, and she's succeeding, to the tune of two million to date.

In 2026, the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, was a bit different than previous meetings of this group of supposed elites. In the past, as I've spoken and written about before, Davos was a meeting with not only economics but climate scoldery were on the agenda. That's changing, and not just because our President Donald Trump went through most of the so-called elites like a dose of salts. (And it was a glorious thing to see.)
No, the drawdown of climate scoldery and advocacy of "green" alternative energy was mostly because the people putting forth those ideas, those arguments, ran into problems all on their own, the chief problem being, frankly, reality.
Case in point: The CEO of Honeywell, Vimal Kapur, had some cogent things to say about things ranging from data centers to cement, and about how energy density matters.

Jack Smith Makes Four Big Admissions In Fiery Public Hearing

Former special counsel Jack Smith made major admissions during his public testimony Thursday, including about former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s credibility as a witness.
Republicans grilled Smith on everything from search warrants he obtained for members of Congress’ phone records to his litigation decisions, while Democrats told Smith he did “everything right.”
Smith secured two indictments charging President Donald Trump for alleged interference in the 2020 election and for alleged mishandling of classified documents. Despite his best efforts to secure a trial before the election, he was forced to drop both cases after Trump won in 2024.
“If asked whether to prosecute a former president based on the same facts today, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Democrat or a Republican,” Smith said. “No one should be above the law in this country and the law required that he [Trump] be held to account.”
1. Cassidy Hutchinson wasn’t ruled out as a witness.
Smith admitted both on Thursday and in prior closed-door deposition that elements of Hutchinson’s testimony were based on “hearsay.” Hutchinson, a key witness for the Jan. 6 committee, claimed Trump lunged to grab the steering wheel of his presidential vehicle on Jan. 6 to redirect it the Capitol.
Yet Smith didn’t rule out calling her as a witness.
“Were you going to put her on the witness stand if you ever got to trial?” Jordan asked.
“We had not made final determinations as to who we were going to call as a witness,” Smith replied. “That’s the point,” Jordan said. “You didn’t rule out using her, or putting her on the witness stand, when everybody knows she wasn’t telling the truth. That says it all.”
2. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy posed no risk that warranted hiding subpoenas for his phone records.
During an exchange with Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill, Smith agreed former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was not a “flight risk.” This is one justification for a nondisclosure order, which Smith obtained to keep his request for nearly three months worth of McCarthy’s toll records secret.
Smith sought toll records, which included “detail records for inbound and outbound calls, text messages, direct connect, and voicemail messages” but not the content of those messages, for more than a dozen Republican members of Congress. Verizon complied with the subpoenas, though AT&T did not.
“Sixteen days after becoming the highest ranking Republican in the house of representatives, you subpoenaed his toll records,” Gill said. “Do you agree that might reasonably be considered a violation of the speech or debate clause?”
Smith said he does not. He noted the risks that lead to securing a nondisclosure order “aren’t necessarily associated with the subscriber to the phone, they’re the risks of the investigation.”
“As Speaker of the House, I had a 24/7 security detail and my location was known to the government at all times,” McCarthy wrote on X. “Flight risk? Another of Jack Smith’s many lies.”
The judge who approved the nondisclosure order did not have McCarthy’s name, Smith also confirmed.
3. Smith doesn’t know how much money went to confidential human sources.
Jordan asked Smith how much of the $35 million he used to prosecute Trump went towards paying confidential human sources.
Smith said he didn’t know the identity of a confidential human source who was paid $20,000, payment documents the FBI turned over to Congress in early January revealed. FBI Director Kash Patel called the payment “weaponization” on Jan. 10.
“How many other payments went to this source or other sources?” Jordan said.
“As I sit here, I do not know the answer to that question,” Smith said.
4. Smith doesn’t remember who swore him in.
Smith was unable to recall who swore him into office, which Republican Texas Rep. Lance Gooden said strikes him as “odd.”
“Attorney General Garland had you retake the oath of office,” Gooden said. “Why did he make you do that?
“As I sit here right now, I do not recall,” he said. “I know that there is the oath of office that I signed, I believe it was on the 18th, the day I was appointed, and I know the department had me do a second one.”
Gooden noted there was “no witness” for the first time he took the oath of office.
Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case in July 2024 after finding Smith, as a private citizen who was not nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, was unlawfully appointed. Former Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith on November 18, 2022.
‘Shouldn’t Be Allowed To Practice Law’
Smith maintained he had “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” showing Trump committed “serious crimes.” He stated at one point he believes Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) will do “everything in their power” to find a way to indict him.
Trump called Smith on Tuesday a “deranged animal, who shouldn’t be allowed to practice law.”
“Hopefully the Attorney General is looking at what he’s done, including some of the crooked and corrupt witnesses that he was attempting to use in his case against me,” he posted on Truth Social.
