Rubio to Join Foreign Ministers of Japan, Australia and India at Quad Meet in New Delhi

The grouping first came together after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami to coordinate aid.

The U.S. secretary of state will meet foreign ministers from Japan, Australia, and India at a Quad meeting in New Delhi on May 26, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.

The Quad, composed of four Indo–Pacific democracies, is a diplomatic grouping that works together on security, economic cooperation, and other regional issues.

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will travel to India for three days from May 25 to attend the gathering, according to the ministry’s announcement on Friday.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to fly to India on Saturday after a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Sweden, the State Department confirmed.

Ruddy: Trump's Economic Numbers Are Strong — So What's the Problem?

For months now, much of the mainstream media has tried to sell Americans on the idea that President Donald Trump is politically weakened, economically vulnerable and somehow disconnected from the public mood. 

Yet once again, the elites are making the same mistake they've made for nearly a decade: underestimating both Trump and the American people.

Mark Twain famously said, "Statistics don't lie. People do."

The modern version may be even more relevant: "The polls don't lie — pollsters do." Recently, ABC/Washington Post released a poll showing President Trump at just 37% approval.

The number surprised me. So I called veteran pollster John McLaughlin (who polls for the president).

John reviewed the backup data for the poll and found something extraordinary: Only 35% of those surveyed in the ABC poll were Trump voters.

Wait a minute, didn't President Trump receive nearly 50% of the vote in the 2024 election?

The poll's survey sample was not neutral or fair. Clearly, the pollsters engineered an outcome.

This is how modern political narratives are often manufactured.

Americans are not fools. The Trump economic numbers are strong and good.

And we have to remember he's only a few months into his second year and the stock market is at record highs.

The equity markets are a "leading indicator" — a signal of future economic conditions.

Clearly, the markets are signaling great times are ahead.

They should. Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" started hitting only this year.

With it will come $4.5 trillion in tax cuts — the largest amount in history. 

The average family will see taxes cut by almost $2,500 this year alone. 

Inflation exploded under Joe Biden, but Trump has dramatically reduced and contained this dragon.

President Trump, in his first term, brought unemployment to a record 50-year low. He's moving in that direction again.

Gross domestic product growth has also remained resilient.

It was moving at warp speed until the Democrats started closing down the government late last year, effectively putting a brake on economic growth.

Still, GDP growth under Trump so far has been more than double the rates for Japan, Germany and Britain.

Trump's economic agenda is delivering real results.

The issue is not performance. The issue is messaging.

The big media has been almost monolithic in its opposition to him.

Trump himself is a brilliant messenger, outstripping the Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan, years ago.

But sometimes I think Trump battles alone.

Oddly, the administration has policies restricting most of its senior members from going on radio, TV shows, podcasts or other media.

You have a great story to tell — and many senior officials in agencies across the government are either forbidden or highly restricted in speaking to the media about their success.

Does that make sense? It's interesting because many of them were selected for their jobs because of their media savviness.

With midterms fast-approaching, messaging will be critical.

The administration can do a better job connecting the president's policy victories to everyday American life.

The economic gains are real. The tax relief is real. The stronger labor market is real. 

But in an age of nonstop media hostility, accomplishments cannot simply speak for themselves. 

The establishment keeps betting against Trump because it still does not understand the movement behind him.

Trump's supporters are not simply responding to rhetoric. They are responding to his results.

And he has many good ones to share.

A U.S. victory in the war with Iran will help deter a Chinese military assault on Taiwan, the commander of the Indo-Pacific Command told Congress Tuesday.

Adm. Samuel J. Paparo, head of the Hawaii-based command in charge of military forces in the Asia-Pacific region, also revealed that China rapidly expanded both conventional and nuclear forces in the past two years. He urged the Pentagon and defense contractors to speed the development and deployment of the arms needed to deter Beijing.

“There’s no substitute for prevailing on the battlefield,” Adm. Paparo told the Senate Armed Services Committee during a hearing on the need to win the Iran war.

* Tulsi Gabbard is resigning as director of national intelligence.
* Her husband has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
* Her resignation follows recent Cabinet firings by President Trump.

Tulsi Gabbard is resigning from her post as director of national intelligence, disclosing that her husband is battling cancer.

“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” she told President Trump in her formal resignation letter. “My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer [and] faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months.

“At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.”

She added, “His strength and love have sustained me through every challenge. I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position.”

“At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle,” Ms. Gabbard wrote.

Confirming her departure, President Trump said on social media, “Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th.”

He added that “she, rightfully, wants to be with him, bringing him back to good health as they currently fight a tough battle together. I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever.”

Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas will serve as acting director, Mr. Trump announced.

President Donald Trump is RSVPing “no” to his eldest son’s wedding, citing the need to remain at the White House “during this important period of time.” 

Trump announced his decision on Friday via Truth Social after hinting he was uncertain to attend earlier in the week because of the war with Iran.

“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote. “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”

The situation in Cuba is quite dynamic at the moment, and while I'm a little short for time on this Friday night as I write this, I wanted to make sure I've covered the latest, including Donald Trump and Marco Rubio's continued high-pressure moves against the regime, the fallout from the Raúl Castro indictment that the Department of Justice (DOJ) unsealed this week, and a bit of an update on the humanitarian crisis.

A Major Arrest

On Thursday, Marco Rubio announced the arrest of Adys Lastres Morera, "a Cuban national with ties to the communist regime in Havana." Morera had been a lawful permanent resident of Florida, working in the real estate sector, since 2023. This week, Rubio personally terminated her green card, and she is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, awaiting deportation. She's the sister of Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, the Executive President of GAESA — the regime's military-controlled financial conglomerate — whom the U.S. sanctioned earlier this month.

The U.S. autonomous vehicle industry, like any other industry, relies on a supply chain that spans the globe, collecting automotive hardware and raw materials from countless other countries.

Typically, a global supply chain is a positive sign of cost optimization and connectivity, but these benefits should not obscure national security considerations. In the United States, autonomous vehicle companies such as Waymo have become vessels for Chinese products to enter the factories, streets, and garages of America. 

Chinese autonomous vehicles create an opportunity for the Chinese Communist Party to collect intelligence on American infrastructure and, more importantly, on drivers. Waymo uses cameras, lidar, and radar to identify road signs and crossing pedestrians, ensuring a safe ride. Much of this technology, however, comes directly from Zeekr, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which is chaired by a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

President Donald Trump said it simply in a Truth Social post a few days ago: “THE SAVE AMERICA ACT MUST BE PASSED, NOW.”

He’s right, of course.The SAVE America Act is a crucial piece of election integrity legislation. It would require that states obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship before allowing a would-be voter to register, and that registered voters produce a photo ID to verify they are who they say they are when voting.

The fact is, we should have enacted this legislation years ago to fix a problem with the 1993 National Voter Registration Act. That bill, also called the “Motor Voter” law, authorized government officials to create a voter registration form that allows an applicant to declare, by checking a box, that they are a United States citizen — but which, crucially, does not require proof of citizenship.

More than 200 years ago, an American ship, the SS Savannah, departed the beautiful port city of Savannah, Georgia, for England as the first vessel under steam propulsion to cross the Atlantic. In recognition of the historic voyage and 114 years later, Congress proclaimed May 22 as Maritime Day.

A lot has changed since the Savannah’s transoceanic voyage.

Today, the vast majority of commercial ships are powered by diesel engines. Hybrid and new fuel sources such as liquefied natural gas and methanol are also being adopted by carriers. Most recently, forward-looking leaders such as Administrator Stephen Carmel at the U.S. Maritime Administration see small modular reactors as a technology that can once again transform the maritime industry.
