Journo Org Warns A Trump Victory Could Threaten Press Freedom, Completely Ignoring Biden-Harris Censorship Regime

The Committee to Protect Journalists warned that former President Donald Trump would “further his anti-press agenda” if re-elected, lauding the Biden-Harris administration’s media relationships in a new special report.
Katherine Jacobsen, who authored the report, compared Trump’s press relationships against those of the Joe Biden administration, but failed to mention the Biden White House’s well-documented efforts to expand censorship.
Jacobsen cites Trump’s threats to broaden the legal definition of libel and his Department of Justice’s use of the Espionage Act to indict WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. No mention is made of former President Barack Obama’s use of the act to jail a record number of journalists.
Biden restored a “sense of normalcy in the relationship between media and the White House,” Jacobsen said at a White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
In contrast, Jacobsen said that Vice President Kamala Harris would likely continue a “civil relationship” with the press, citing her “past interactions with the media.” She justifies her claim of Harris’ civility by citing a Semafor article which detailed the vice president’s need to repair her “difficult relationship with national media.”
Harris and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have seemingly done little to mend this “difficult relationship,” given the campaign’s unusually low number of press interviews. The pair appear set to continue the Biden-Harris legacy of stark opposition to free speech and the first amendment.
