Police swoop in early morning terror raids

Police are carrying out terror raids on Sydney properties this morning, in what's believed to be the biggest counterterror bust in this country's history.
Several people with suspected links to the terror group Islamic State have been arrested after the biggest anti-terror raids ever seen in Australia were conducted in Sydney and Brisbane earlier today.
Up to 600 officers involved in a giant taskforce of state and federal police are believe to be involved in the joint operation.
It's understood the raids have eclipsed 2005's Operation Pendennis which saw more than a dozen men arrested over bomb plots in Sydney and Melbourne.
It's believed the raids in 12 northwest Sydney suburbs were pre-emptive, amid fears there were plans to carry out a series of attacks in Australia.
The Australian Federal Police has confirmed it was also executing search warrants in the Brisbane suburbs of Mount Gravatt East, Logan and Underwood, but wouldn't confirm if the operation was linked to the raids in Sydney.
The arrests in Sydney follow months of surveillance of people linked to the terrorist group Islamic State, which has been cutting a barbaric path through Iraq and Syria.
