"THIS SCAM 'RUSHED' TRIAL IS BEING PRESIDED OVER BY POSSIBLY THE MOST CONFLICTED JUDGE IN JUDICIAL HISTORY," President Donald J. Trump declared with characteristic understatement via Truth Social. Trump added that Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan "MUST BE REMOVED FROM THIS HOAX IMMEDIATELY."

Whether Merchan is "the most conflicted judge" ever is debatable.

However, he surely belongs in the Conflicted Jurist Hall of Shame.

In fact, Merchan is awash in conflicts of interest in Trump’s "hush money" trial.

First, the judge’s daughter, Loren Merchan, is a Democratic Party activist. Before her LinkedIn page went private, it listed her as director of digital persuasion for the Kamala Harris for the People campaign in 2019.

Student Protesters Hunker Down as More Unrest Rocks US Campuses

Students who occupied a Columbia University building vowed Tuesday to fight back against efforts to evict them, as administrators struggled to contain pro-Palestinian protests that have launched dozens of campus demonstrations around the United States.

The demonstrations — the most sweeping and prolonged unrest to rock U.S. college campuses since the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s and '70s — have led to several hundred arrests of students and other activists.

Many of them have vowed to maintain their actions despite suspensions and threats of expulsion.

"We will remain here, drawing from the lessons of our people [in Gaza] that stay put, and hold their ground even under the worst conditions," a protester wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh headscarf, and who declined to give her name, told reporters outside Columbia's Hamilton Hall.

A new poll released on Tuesday from Emerson College Polling/8 News Now/The Hill shows former President Donald Trump has an edge over incumbent President Joe Biden in key swing states.

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said:

The state of the presidential election in swing states has remained relatively consistent since Emerson and The Hill started tracking them last November. The share of undecided voters has reduced and Biden gained ground in Georgia and Nevada, narrowing the gap, while Trump has maintained a slight edge on Biden in the swing states.

In every one of the seven key swing states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — Trump narrowly led Biden, most within the margin of error (+/- 3%), except in Arizona and North Carolina, where Trump has a larger lead.

Even as Columbia University threatened and went through with suspending pro-Hamas agitators on campus, the terrorist sympathizers took their demonstrations a step further by occupying Hamilton Hall, which they even renamed to Hind Hall. They've violated numerous campus policies, not to mention the threat that they pose to their Jewish classmates. Hours later, one of the most recent updates to the university's "Campus Updates" page addressed expulsions.

As a university update from 12:55pm EST reads [Emphasis original]:

We regret that protesters have chosen to escalate the situation through their actions. Our top priority is restoring safety and order on our campus.

We made it very clear yesterday that the work of the University cannot be endlessly interrupted by protesters who violate the rules. Continuing to do so will be met with clear consequences. Protesters have chosen to escalate to an untenable situation—vandalizing property, breaking doors and windows, and blockading entrances—and we are following through with the consequences we outlined yesterday.

Students occupying the building face expulsion.

Protesters were informed that their participation in the encampment violated numerous University policies. We gave everyone at the encampment the opportunity to leave peacefully. By committing to abide by University policies, they would be allowed to complete the semester.

Students who did not commit to the terms we offered are now being suspended. Those students will be restricted from all academic and recreational spaces and may only access their individual residence. Seniors will be ineligible to graduate.

This is about responding to the actions of the protesters, not their cause.

As we said yesterday, disruptions on campus have created a threatening environment for many of our Jewish students and faculty and a noisy distraction that interferes with teaching, learning, and preparing for final exams, and contributes to a hostile environment in violation of Title VI.

The safety of our community remains our top priority.

Nearly 3 in 5 voters say President Biden helped his son Hunter Biden with his foreign business dealings, a new poll shows.

The poll by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies, Harris X and The Harris Poll shows that 58% of respondents say Mr. Biden helped and participated in his son’s business dealings, while 42% say he did not.

About 84% of Republicans surveyed say the president was involved, while 36% of Democrats and 55% of those who identify as independent/other say he was involved. In addition,

64% of Democrats say Mr. Biden did not participate in the business, while 16% of GOP respondents and 45% of independents agree.

Retired Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said on April 28 that he believes that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump could fail because prosecutors have charged the former president with fake crimes.

“There is no crime,” Mr. Dershowitz said during an interview on Fox News on April 28, referring to the case in which Mr. Bragg’s office has charged the former president with 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide so-called hush money payments that prosecutors allege amounted to a criminal conspiracy to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Mr. Dershowitz argued that making nondisclosure payments is not a crime and that neither is paying for the non-publication of potentially embarrassing stories (the so-called catch-and-kill dimension of the case), both of which prosecutors have alleged were part of a conspiracy to sway voters.

The retired law professor argued that Mr. Bragg’s office is in danger of having the case thrown out on grounds similar to those on which the conviction of Harvey Weinstein was recently overturned, namely that prosecutors prejudiced the case by a number of “egregious” improper rulings, including allowing testimony that was unrelated to what Mr. Weinstein was charged with.

“They ought to be very careful about this because the Supreme Court of the Appellate Court in Albany just reversed Harvey Weinstein’s conviction on the ground that they put in too much information that wasn’t really relevant to the case,” Mr. Dershowitz said, adding that this is “what’s happening” in the trial against President Trump.

“There is no crime in Manhattan. You cannot figure out what the crime is. That’s why they’re putting on all this evidence of non-crimes,” Mr. Dershowitz said.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has taken another significant turn, with the International Criminal Court (ICC) reportedly considering issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior government officials. The development stems from accusations that Israel’s military response to Hamas’ October 7 attacks has supposedly been too harsh.

The looming possibility of legal action from the international body has already sparked debate about the issue.

Reports suggest that Israeli officials are concerned about the development.

The ICC is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. It investigates and tries individuals charged with grave crimes, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

It is also worth mentioning that no mention of the ICC considering warrants against Hamas leaders and operatives has yet been reported.

Former President Donald Trump is sequestered in a downtown Manhattan courtroom for a second week beginning Tuesday. The good news for the former president’s fans is, even a jury in this deeply Democratic jurisdiction might have second thoughts about endorsing the insubstantial charges laid out by the prosecution.

Until now, District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been cagey about the precise nature of the charges — for good reason. Observers assumed there must have been more underlying the indictment than a bunch of trivial misdemeanors related to bookkeeping. Nope. That’s it.

Mr. Bragg and Biden administration point man Matthew Colangelo are spinning a tale that Mr. Trump’s lawyer made “hush money” payments to naughty film actress Stormy Daniels. Although payments of this sort are legitimate, Democratic prosecutors insist they were recorded in a ledger under an incorrect label.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has asked former President Donald Trump’s lawyers about whether they challenged special counsel Jack Smith’s authority to bring charges against the president.

On April 25, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case about President Trump’s being immune from prosecution for official acts carried out during his presidency. During the hearing, Justice Thomas asked John Sauer, the attorney who represented President Trump in court, “Did you, in this litigation, challenge the appointment of special counsel?” Mr. Smith was appointed to the case by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Mr. Sauer said that Trump attorneys have not raised such concerns “directly” in the current case at the Supreme Court. However, “it points to a very important issue here, because one of [the prosecution’s] arguments is, of course, that we should have this presumption of regularity,” Mr. Sauer stated.

“That runs into the reality that we have here an extraordinary prosecutorial power being exercised by someone who was never nominated by the president or confirmed by the Senate at any time,” he said.

“We hadn’t raised it yet in this case when this case went up on appeal.”

Mr. Sauer said he agrees with the “analysis provided by Attorney General [Edwin] Meese and Attorney General [Michael B.] Mukasey,” referring to the amicus brief the two former attorneys general submitted to the Supreme Court on March 19.

In it, the two attorneys general noted that irrespective of what one thinks about the immunity issue, Mr. Smith “does not have authority to conduct the underlying prosecution.”

“Those actions can be taken only by persons properly appointed as federal officers to properly created federal offices. Smith wields tremendous power, and effectively answers to no one,” they wrote.

“However, neither Smith nor the position of special counsel under which he purportedly acts meets those criteria. And that is a serious problem for the rule of law, whatever one may think of the conduct at issue in Smith’s prosecution.”

Attorney General Garland appointed Mr. Smith as special counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice, citing several statutes.

However, none of these statutes even “remotely authorized the appointment by the Attorney General of a private citizen or government employee to receive extraordinary criminal law enforcement power under the title of Special Counsel.”

The two attorneys general added there are times when the appointment of a special counsel would be appropriate and that the U.S. Constitution allows for such appointments.

However, “the Attorney General cannot appoint someone never confirmed by the Senate, as a substitute United States Attorney under the title ‘special counsel,’” they added.

“Smith’s appointment was thus unlawful, as are all actions flowing from it, including his prosecution of former President Trump,” they wrote.

Creator of the West Wing Blames This Person for January 6...And It's Not Trump

Well, that’s a curveball regarding the drama over January 6. For liberals, it remains burned into their memories. For everyone else, we do not care anymore. Yet, the Justice Department has joined Democrats in arresting and charging hundreds of people for walking around the U.S. Capitol that day. Only one person, Ashli Babbitt, was killed, and it was by a Capitol Police officer. Was it our nation’s proudest moment? No, but it wasn’t worse than the Civil War or Pearl Harbor, and it's been weaponized by Democrats to go after their political enemies. Donald Trump is the number one public enemy, but Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing, has a different culprit in mind: Facebook.

Specifically, Sorkin blames Mark Zuckerberg for allowing insanity to reign on his platform, which he views as the never-ending drug that’s fueled the division in this country for the past decade or so. It’s the algorithm from which all content is disseminated. Sorkin is no fan of Trump, being an outspoken liberal. Still, he trained a lot of fire toward Zuckerberg in a recent podcast, where he was mum on many details but openly said he blamed the tech billionaire for the January 6 riot. Mediaite transcribed the interview Sorkin had on The Town with Matt Belloni:

This week in Florida, Judge Aileen Cannon unsealed a trove of new documents that Jack Smith fought to keep hidden. And you'll soon find out why. Among the documents unsealed were extensive exhibits, motions, and other filings shedding light on the intricate web of communication between the Biden White House and the National Archives and Records Administration in the lead-up to Trump's indictment.

Investigative journalist Julie Kelly found something interesting in the documents that could change everything. The first things is testimony from an FBI agent who testified that the General Services Association (GSA) had been in possession of Trump's boxes in Virginia before ordering Trump's team to come get them.

"So an entire pallet full of boxes that had been held by GSA somewhere outside of DC is dumped at Mar-a-Lago," Kelly notes. "Apparently these are the boxes that ended up containing papers with 'classified markings.'"

"I will double check indictment but I don't recall this event in the timeline," she added.

So, it appears that the Biden administration may have been responsible for shipping classified information to Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. This development is significant because Trump has previously blamed the GSA for packing the boxes that contained the classified documents, only to later accuse Trump of essentially stealing them and using that as pretext for sending the FBI to raid his Mar-a-Lago home in August 2022.

"It was a set-up from the get-go," remarked Tom Fitton, the founder of Judicial Watch.

College campuses and law enforcement continue to clamp down on pro-Hamas protestors who have been harassing Israeli students nationwide for more than a week.

Many of the pro-terrorism demonstrators incite violence and hate toward the Jewish community, resulting in students and faculty members feeling threatened in a place where they should not.

Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz warned that some of the protestors participating in the encampments at Columbia University will “become terrorists.

 “It’s coming to a theatre near you,” the professor cautioned.

Dershowitz explained that universities nationwide have been teaching anti-semitism for years, citing an example of two female activists who went from protesting a movement to terrorists after joining the Weather Underground group— a far-left Marxist militant organization known for building underground bombs.

“Among the people in front of Columbia University are people who will become terrorists, who will help Hamas, who will be part of the fifth column. How do I know this? Because I represented many dissenters and protesters during the 1960s and 1970s. And you know what happened to some of them? Some of them turned from advocating terrorism to becoming terrorists,” he continued.

Former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson will be bringing his voice to upcoming Australian events that promise to cover a range of topics including “threats to truth, democracy and personal freedoms.”

“I’m so excited to come to Australia,” Mr. Carlson said in a video announcement promoting the Australian Freedom Conference in June, which has events scheduled for five dates across Australia’s main centres.

“Australia always seemed like a place that was very much like where we lived, though maybe a little more exotic and interesting,” he added.

The Australian Freedom Conference is the brainchild of Clive Palmer, an Australian businessman, politician, and mining magnate.

Mr. Palmer extolled Mr. Carlson’s virtues when announcing the event schedule this week.

“Tucker has long advocated that news coverage in the West can be wrongly used as a tool of repression and control,” he said.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said Friday that he would back former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden in the 2024 election and that he believes the real threat to democracy is not the former president but the progressive movement and its backing by the Biden administration.

Mr. Barr made the remark in an April 26 interview on CNN, in which he was asked to respond to a mocking social media post by President Trump in reaction to the former attorney general’s statement last week on Fox News that he would vote for the Republican candidate, whoever that ends up being.

“I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country,” Mr. Barr said on Fox News’s ‘America’s Newsroom’ program on April 17. “And in my mind, that’s—I will vote the Republican ticket.”

President Trump reacted to Mr. Barr’s remark in an April 25 post, stating that he greatly appreciates his “wholehearted” endorsement, while taking a swipe at his one-time attorney general, who has criticized the former president on numerous occasions, including over his claims of voter fraud.

“Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him ‘Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy’ (New York Post!),” President Trump posted on Truth Social. “Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word ‘Lethargic’ from my statement. Thank you Bill.”

Mr. Barr was asked by CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins on April 26 to comment on President Trump’s mocking reaction to his endorsement. The former attorney general made clear it had no effect on his decision to back the Republican nominee.

During Thursday’s deliberations at the U.S. Supreme Court on former President Donald Trump’s immunity claim, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh warned that a decision in the case has future implications for whether future presidents are shielded from vicious cycles of malicious prosecution that could effectively end the presidency as we know it.

In the course of two-and-a-half hours of oral arguments on April 25, justices on the Supreme Court appeared skeptical of a ruling by a federal appeals court that rejected President Trump’s claim that he has absolute immunity from criminal charges based on his official acts as president.

President Trump was indicted by special counsel Jack Smith in August 2023 on charges of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Pleading not guilty, the former president has argued that he should receive absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for acts that fell within the scope of his official duties. The exception to this immunity, he has argued, is if Congress impeaches and convicts him on charges.

A federal appeals court rejected that argument, claiming that presidents must face prosecution for alleged criminal wrongdoing.

The question that is now before the Supreme Court is: “Whether and if so to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office?”

Justice Neil Gorsuch, who said that the court is “writing a rule for the ages,” along with Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Kavanaugh all said that their concern was not so much the case against President Trump, but rather the effect of the ruling on future presidencies.

“This case has huge implications for the presidency, for the future of the presidency, for the future of the country,” Justice Kavanaugh said.

According to a new poll released Friday, President Joe Biden has a record-setting, low popularity rating, worse than the nine presidents who served in the White House before him.

Gallup's job approval rating survey looked at the 13th quarter recorded for each president since 1956, which begins on January 20 and ends on April 19. Biden's job approval rating in his 13th quarter of presidency is considered a historic low at 38.7 percent. It surpasses George H.W. Bush's previous lowest record of a 41.8 percent average job approval rating.

Among presidents elected to their first term since Dwight D. Eisenhower, Biden had the lowest average job approval rating in their thirteenth quarter. Eisenhower, on the other hand, had the highest rating of all these presidents.

The chart provided for RedState readers orders the presidents by 13th quarter popularity ranking, demonstrating that except for Obama, the presidents below a 50 percent approval threshold at this point of their first term were not successfully re-elected to a second term.

The University of Florida is setting strict boundaries for students who participate in pro-terrorism protests as the rise of anti-semitism hits college campuses.

Officials at U of Florida issued a stern warning on Friday to pro-Hamas demonstrators, warning such behavior will not be tolerated or risk facing damaging consequences.

According to a memo obtained by Fox Business, the university spelled out what is acceptable and what is not while still allowing students to express their freedom of speech.

The guidelines permit peaceful protests, including verbal expressions of viewpoints and signs. However, tents, sleeping bags, amplified sound, protests inside campus buildings, threats, and violent behavior will immediately result in expulsion for the student

 The university’s warning comes amid aggravated protests who have engaged in threatening behavior toward the Jewish community at schools such as Columbia, Yale, and Harvard.

A judge in Florida went on an unsealing spree this week, making public a trove of documents that had previously been filed under seal or in heavily redacted form in former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case.

The documents, which included hundreds of pages of exhibits, motions, and other filings, underscored the close communication the Biden White House and the National Archives and Records Administration had in the year before Trump was indicted.

That whole case stinks to high heaven. Meanwhile, Biden had classified docs in his garage and many other places and that's no biggie because he was deemed too mentally feeble for charges to be recommended.

Fred Fleitz, vice chair of the Center for American Security, told Newsmax on Saturday that "China's probably meddling in the 2024 election to get [President Joe] Biden reelected."

On Friday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told CNN that the White House has found potential evidence of election interference, specifically from China. Following his three-day trip in which he met with high-ranking Chinese officials, Blinken said he had seen "evidence of attempts to influence and arguably interfere" with the upcoming elections in the U.S.

Fleitz felt it was ironic that Blinken was raising the issue of Chinese interference as he assumes the country's goal is to help Biden.

"I think that China's probably meddling in the 2024 election to get Biden reelected. They don't want [former President Donald] Trump back. They know Trump will be a real problem. He'll stand up to them to put more tariffs on China," he said during an appearance on "Wake Up America Weekend."

China expert Gordon Chang joined the discussion and said, "China is trying to destroy the United States because they believe we're an existential threat."

The enthusiastic welcome former President Donald Trump received this week with his visits to a bodega and a construction site during his time away from his Manhattan trial is a sign that his popularity is huge not only in New York City, but "well beyond," political strategist Dick Morris, an adviser to the presumptive GOP nominee, said on Newsmax Saturday.

"The Sienna College-New York Times poll showed him only about 10 points behind in New York, so he conceivably could be in play there," Morris told Newsmax's "Saturday Report."

Meanwhile, Morris debunked concerns that a play by President Joe Biden for the states of Michigan and Wisconsin, given higher numbers of pro-Palestinian voters, could give Trump trouble.

"There is no Palestinian base in the American electorate," Morris said. "Michigan is 2.5% or 3% of the vote, and that's it, and Wisconsin even less."

However, Biden's push for those states "relates to the general ethos of the radical left that opposes Israel is basically antisemitic and sympathizes with the Palestinians on the grounds that they are anti-colonial," said Morris.

And the push is "just an effort to avoid a rupture within the Democratic Party," said Morris.

Meanwhile, keeping Trump tied up in court is "backfiring" on Democrats.

Former CIA Director and retired U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus told Newsmax on Friday that the U.S. and Israel will never let Iran have a nuclear bomb, even though the Islamic regime is close to developing weapons-grade uranium.

Rafael Mariano Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said earlier this week that Iran is weeks rather than months away from possessing enough enriched uranium to build a nuclear bomb. Iran reportedly has uranium enriched at 60% and needs it to reach 90% to be weapons-grade.

"What the head of the IAEA is saying is that it would only take a few weeks for them to go from the current stage of enrichment, which is about 60%, to weapons-grade, which is roughly 90%," Petraeus told "The Record With Greta Van Susteren." "That, I think, is absolutely correct. And they have enough of the 60% that they could produce enough weapons-grade for a bomb.

The committees have failed to articulate ‘a legitimate congressional need’ for the audio recordings, the Assistant AG said.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) stands its ground on its refusal to surrender the audio recording of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Joe Biden to the House Oversight Committee.

Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and James Comer (R-Ky.), chairmen of the House Judiciary and Oversight Accountability committees, warned Attorney General Merrick Garland that he would hold him in contempt of Congress unless he handed over the recording of Mr. Hur’s interview stemming from a probe into President Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified information.

In the letter, signed on April 25, Assistant Attorney General Carlos Felipe Uriarte told Mr. Jordan and Mr. Comer that despite the committees’ threats of contempt proceedings, the DOJ has adequately responded and sees no reason to give the audio to the committees.

“We have repeatedly invited the Committees to identify how these audio recordings from law enforcement files would serve the purposes for which you say you want them,” the letter stated. “We have also repeatedly urged the Committees to avoid unnecessary conflict and to respect the public interest in the Department’s ability to conduct effective investigations by protecting sensitive law enforcement files.”

Mr. Uriarte said the DOJ has already complied with the committees’ request by providing Mr. Hur’s report and testimony in addition to transcripts of the interview.

“This is consistent with our strong record of cooperation this Congress,” Mr. Uriarte said.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley on Friday said the prosecution’s case against former President Donald Trump is failing as a key witness is benefiting the defense.

Trump is on trial facing 34 felony counts of allegedly falsifying business records in relation to a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. The prosecution’s first witness, former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, was helpful to Trump as the prosecution made mistakes that the defense capitalized on during cross-examination, Turley asserted on Fox News’ “Outnumbered.” (RELATED: Turley Says SCOTUS Could Throw ‘Wrench’ Into Jack Smith’s Case Against Trump)

“It’s a breakdown in the courtroom. They have a witness that is disassembling in front of them,” Turley said. “The prosecution never revealed to the jury in the direct that Pecker had actually killed stories for other celebrities, that he had been working on stories two decades before the election with Trump that he was suppressing. And now it’s only getting worse. Yesterday was really bad In terms of the cross-examination for the prosecution. Today is much worse. I mean, here Pecker is saying that Trump didn’t want to purchase the story. Yesterday when he asked him about reimbursing Cohen, he said he didn’t know anything about that.”

Pecker has testified about former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and the former president allegedly purchasing former playboy model Karen McDougal’s story of an alleged affair from the outlet, one of three instances the prosecution argues reveal an unlawful “conspiracy” to influence the 2016 election.
