Former Rep. Devin Nunes, President-elect Donald Trump’s designated intelligence adviser and slayer of the Democratic Party’s discredited dossier, has a new target, he told The Washington Times exclusively.

Mr. Nunes said he wants the “infected by politics” intelligence community to clean up its partisan “politicization.” And Mr. Trump is “determined to root it out.”

With the dossier, Mr. Nunes sat in a strategic spot with the power to investigate FBI partisanship. As House Intelligence Committee chairman, the California Republican exposed the bureau as the prime useful idiot of the anti-Trump Steele dossier. His 2018 Nunes memo, declassified by Mr. Trump, rewrote history on the biggest hoax in modern U.S. political history.

Today, Mr. Nunes is about to assume another influential post. Mr. Trump has named him to chair the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, where he will have direct access to the president on all matters of intelligence.

In 2019, Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House, published a book called “Trump vs. China: Facing America’s Greatest Threat.” One of his main marketing themes for that title was to acknowledge that “We were wrong” — that the early 2000s call from conservatives to welcome China into the World Trade Organization fold did not result in a more capitalist China but rather a more communist-pushing WTO community, leading to more communist influence in the world and even, astonishingly, more tolerance for communists around the world.

That was a mistake of epic proportions for conservatives to make.

Communists are communists are communists, and capitalists are capitalists are capitalists, and never the two will meet.

Now the communists in China are building up their military like there’s no tomorrow. They’re building up their weapons, as well as their psychological warfare operations. And America has just come off four years of “can’t we all just along” White House foreign affairs policy, leading to significant cuts to the U.S. military.

“Biden Shrinks the U.S. Military,” RealClearDefense posted in March of 2024, adding this explainer in a second headline: “The president’s Pentagon budget reveals the armed forces in a state of managed decline.”

In other words: He shrunk it just enough so he could pretend he wasn’t shrinking it.

“Don’t Be Fooled by Biden’s Budget: He’s Cutting Military Spending as our Need Grow,” the New York Post wrote in March of 2023.

Thankfully, President-elect Donald Trump has a better handle on the national security needs of America, to include the threats China brings to the free world, economically, culturally and politically. But his administration can’t come fast enough. President Biden’s can’t leave fast enough.

“China has a sweeping vision to reshape the world,” CNN reported in November of 2023.

The fact Republicans ignored a couple of decades ago and instead, optimistically and naively campaigned for a China that would do the bidding of capitalism, was a perilous misstep that opened the doors for headlines like this, in more modern days: “China’s Grand Plan To Take Over The World” — from Forbes, November of 2019. It led to the World Economic Forum’s open advocacy for what then-WEF chief Klaus Schwab called “stakeholder capitalism” and described as a new model of free markets that blended the China way with the American way — a meeting of communism with capitalism, that pushed for corporations to adopt social policy, not profit, as their primary goal, and that led to U.S. companies walking the woke line. They didn’t call it communism. But it was. It is. You can’t have free markets and state-controlled markets working cohesively and simultaneously. One drives out the other.

The good news is many of America’s corporations are shedding their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agendas and putting the wokeism back in the closet where it belongs. The bad news is much damage has already been done.

“China expands its economic reach into the United States’ backyard,” East Asia Forum wrote in May of 2023.

The article went on to report, “China has made inroads into South America and the Caribbean, a region where US power once went unchallenged. Starting in the late 1990s, Chinese interest in South America and the Caribbean began to grow.”

In the 1990s.

In the 1990s, when Republicans were selling the idea that communist China just needed a good dose of economic opportunity to lose their communist ways.

Fast-forward to 2023.

“China is the largest trading partner of nine countries in the region: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela,” East Asia Forum wrote.

Geez, Louise.

Fast-forward to 2024.

“China’s military buildup and cognitive warfare strategy are clear indications of its intent to defeat the U.S. and its allies by any means necessary,” The Federalist wrote on Dec. 27.

Specifics?

As The Federalist noted, China has added 50 new intercontinental ballistic missiles with capabilities of hitting U.S. lands. China has added more than 600 operational nuclear warheads. China has added hundreds of medium- and long-range cruise missiles.

“China’s navy, already the largest in the world with 370 ships and submarines, is expected to grow to 435 by 2030,” The Federalist wrote.

America can barely find qualified shipbuilders, never mind the shipyards where they can build.

This is just a glimpse of China’s growing powers in the fact of America’s waning strength. And sadly, it’s nearly all due to political will. China’s communist leaders have the drive and determination to become the uncontested leader of the world; America’s leaders, minus a few bright spots in the Republican Party — of which Trump is one — have been concessionary, naive, and weak, allowing globalism to dominate agendas rather than sovereign constitutional views. The America First doctrine is soon moving back into White House focus. But it can’t be just for a four-year term.

America First must be the guiding principle of whomever sits in the White House and leads in the political offices of Congress. Less rosy-tinted looks at foreign governments; more steadfast and clearcut agendas that consistently keep the United States as the top dog around the world. Peace through strength. Keep America great.

Communists are America’s enemies.

China is America’s enemy. These are guiding compasses that do not and should not change. We forget them not only at our peril, but at our utter demise.

One high-profile Republican lawmaker urged President-elect Donald Trump to personally call GOP conference members on House Speaker Mike Johnson's behalf.

Trump on Monday used his social media site Truth Social to call for retaining Johnson as speaker in the new Congress. House Republicans will vote for a new House leader on Friday.

The GOP will hold a narrow 219-215 majority – with former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz's seat vacant – when the new Congress begins. Johnson will need 218 votes to retain the gavel.

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., chair of the Oversight and Accountability Committee, said Trump should call Republican members personally and encourage them to support Johnson, whom some conservatives have criticized after he agreed with Democrats on a failed spending deal last week.

"I strongly encourage Donald Trump to get on the phone with those five or six members who won't commit to voting for Mike Johnson because all this is going to do is delay us," Comer said Sunday on Fox News Channel.

"It's going to delay the certification of President Trump's election. It's going to delay the start of his first 100 days in office, which is the most important time frame of his whole presidency. That's when you get the most done, historically."

Comer added: "So, I strongly encourage President Trump to get on the phone and try to get everyone united so we can work together as a team and make America great again."

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., has warned his colleagues about the dangers of removing House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

Johnson can only afford to lose one vote among Republicans when the 119th Congress is sworn in to vote on its new leader.

"The fact is that Mike Johnson inherited a disaster when Matt Gaetz and several of my colleagues teamed up with 208 Democrats to remove Kevin McCarthy, which will go down as the single stupidest thing I've ever seen in politics," Lawler said Sunday on "This Week."

A fight over the speakership could delay other business Congress needs to conduct, like certifying President-elect Donald Trump's electoral victory.

"Removing Mike Johnson would equally be as stupid," Lawler said. "The fact is that these folks are playing with fire. And if they think they're somehow going to get a more conservative speaker, they're kidding themselves."

Australia has welcomed 2025 in full celebration mode after an expected 1 million people turned out for a monster fireworks show in Sydney alone.

The new year began with 12 minutes of pyrotechnics spraying from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, boats in the harbour, the Opera House sails, five city skyscrapers and countless other spots.

The whole thing – 23,000 individual pyrotechnic shots, more than 13,000 aerial shells and 40,000 ground effects – was brought to life by a soundtrack choreographed by award-winning screen composer Luna Pan.

Majority of Americans Predict Positive Changes in 2025 Despite Challenges: Gallup

A new Gallup poll found that 52 percent of respondents believe the United States will become more powerful in 2025, despite ongoing geopolitical challenges.

A majority of Americans expect positive change in 2025 in a number of key areas—including employment prospects, inflation at reasonable levels, and the United States becoming more powerful—although optimism was tempered by expectations for overall economic difficulty, much international discord, and domestic political conflict.

The findings come from a Gallup poll released on Dec. 30 that found that Americans’ predictions for 2025 are generally far more optimistic than their expectations were for 2023, the last time a similar survey was conducted.

The 2025 poll reflects a nuanced mixture of hope and concern regarding views about the nation’s trajectory across key sectors such as the economy, global influence, and domestic stability.

Clear partisan divides emerged in the findings, with broad majorities of Republicans foreseeing positive outcomes for the United States on all measures except political cooperation.

Notably, the percentage point shifts in each party’s predictions compared to 2023 revealed a striking trend: the relatively slight growth in Democratic pessimism about a year in which President-elect Donald Trump assumes office was outweighed by an explosion in Republican optimism, accompanied by a significant rise in optimism among independents. Together, these shifts led to a broader uplift in public confidence as 2025 approaches, according to Gallup.

Among the most optimistic predictions, 54 percent of Americans believe employment opportunities will increase in 2025, reflecting faith in job growth and a strengthening labor market. Similarly, 52 percent anticipate inflation will rise at a “reasonable” rate, signaling hope that prices will further stabilize after several years of volatility. The stock market is expected to be a particularly bright spot in the coming year, with 66 percent expecting 2025 to be bullish for equities.

The Best Christmas Gift of All: Trump Saved The United States of America

Do you believe you will get a great Christmas present this year? Is it one you have wanted and dreamed of for years?

Well, I have news for you. No matter how amazing the Christmas present you are about to get may be, you were already given the greatest present of your lifetime on November 5th. That present given to you by Donald J. Trump.

I have literally lost count of how many people I have spoken with – Republicans, Democrats, and independents -- since the election on November 5th who have told me: “I am so thankful that President Trump won. I have not felt this relaxed, unburdened, or hopeful in years. I truly believe that with his victory, he saved our nation and the futures of our children and grandchildren.”

In case you have not been paying attention, countless high-level people I know either formerly in government or currently employed at the federal level, literally and truly believe that President Trump just saved The United States of America from complete and everlasting destruction from within. This fact cannot be stressed enough. Had Kamala Harris -- or in reality, the sinister cabal operating from deep within the shadows of Washington, D.C. which controlled her – won, what was left of our nation after Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Harris had erased much of it with multiple strokes of a pen, would have disappeared in a vortex of wokeness, Socialism, Marxism, and hate.

This Christmas Day, take a moment to pause and reflect upon the draconian damage these far-left politicians and their bootlickers in the media, academia, and entertainment have done to our Republic: Our borders are gone; our Military is woke, obese, and anti-traditional values; our universities are woke, useless, and have become epicenters of anarchism, bigotry, and violence; our hospitals and major science centers and publications now put wokeness and identity politics before merit, medical care, and facts; our failed public schools are indoctrinating tens of millions of children; our inner-cities are on the verge of violent and total collapse; our energy grid is failing while the far-left worships at the altar of the greatest Ponzi scheme in the history of the world – that being fake “green” energy; faith in God is under constant attack; and oh, yes, the world is on the verge of WWIII.

Now, pause to think of what Santa Trump just delivered under your tree with his decisive victory: Our borders will be secured; our Military turned around; our Universities and colleges told to get back to the business of real education and out of the business of indoctrination, bigotry, and violence or lose their hundreds of billions in federal money; the corrupt teachers unions destroying the education of our children will be confronted; our police departments will be funded to the max as they work to fight crime and corruption in our largest cities; our nation will become energy independent once again; faith will be celebrated; and the world made instantly safer.

As President Trump himself posted on Truth Social earlier this week: “All over the world, they are calling it THE TRUMP EFFECT, because even before taking office, we are already bringing jobs, opportunity, safety, and Common Sense back to the USA!... Standing before you today, I can proudly proclaim that the GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA IS UPON US!... My administration will live by the motto ‘Promises Made, Promises KEPT.’”

I have stated this in the past, but I truly believe that President Trump will eventually be proclaimed as the greatest president in our history. He will be named so because of what he overcame; his decades of real-world business experience and massive global success; the disasters that were our nation and the world that he inherited; the “It Factor” which he possesses which cannot be given, bought, or faked; his toughness and resolve to put “America First” when so many others went far-left “Globalist,” and the common sense policies he is infusing into our nation and the world which are taking root in record time.

This Christmas Day, pause to think about what you almost lost: your liberty, your voice, your safety, your. healthcare, your education, youride for your children, and…your very nation.

Now, think about the peace of mind and sense of hope Trump just delivered under your tree. No matter if you get the Christmas present you have always dreamed of or not, you were just blessed with the greatest gift of all.

President Trump literally has given us our nation; our liberty; and our hope back. Oh, and he also made it normal again to say, “Merry Christmas.”

A gift for the ages.

“For four years, President Joe Biden has described climate change as an existential threat requiring a whole lot of government response and trillions of dollars in new spending to force America off fossil fuels,” scoffs RealClearInvestigations’ James Varney. President-elect Donald Trump, by contrast, “wants to realign U.S. energy policy toward cheap, abundant energy and away from expensive, emerging renewable sources” that often “rely on government subsidies.” True, “no president has a magic wand that can undo every policy enacted by his predecessor.” But the nation has reason to hope: Much of Biden’s $27 billion greenhouse-gas-reduction-fund grants, for example, have “been awarded to outfits with strong ties to the Democratic party.” “Money can be saved simply by not being spent.”

Eye on New York: Labor’s War on AI

Albany’s “Legislative Oversight of Automated Decision-Making in Government,” or “LOADinG,” Act wasn’t about “protecting New York from self-aware computers trying to wipe out humanity,” snarks the Empire Center’s Ken Girardin of legislation signed by Gov. Hochul restricting state agencies’ use of AI and computer-generated guidelines. It was a gift to “the unions, particularly the Public Employees Federation,” which admitted to lawmakers it was seeking “to protect workers from losing their jobs to AI systems.” Yet the bill’s “ ‘protections’ will bring slower-than-appropriate service delivery at higher-than-necessary costs, slamming the brakes on a multi-generation trend toward more efficiency, both across the economy and in state agencies themselves.” Government can greatly benefit from AI, but only if “public employee unions don’t keep sabotaging them.”

Liberal: A Fix for Dems’ Toxic Party Image

After the election, “non-delusional Democrats have concluded that their party brand is in the toilet,” observes The Liberal Patriot’s John Halpin. Among these realists are “centrists who say the party is too culturally elitist, too anti-capitalist, and too obsessed with identity politics and other extreme values.” It’s plagued with progressives who think the party is “too pro-corporate and too obsessed with white working-class voters.” To improve the party’s brand, Dems should try “fusionism,” blending “pro-growth and populist economics” with “traditionally liberal but pluralistic and more moderate cultural values.” This would require centrists and progressives to “forego the attempted takeover of the party for a while and try to create new mechanisms for cooperation and the development of a party brand that all sides can embrace.”

Ever since The Post broke the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop in October of 2020, it’s been obvious that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s influence peddling schemes.

The president’s serial denials were as credible as Bill Clinton’s claim that “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.”

Biden’s most ridiculous lie was that he never even discussed Hunter’s foreign business with him.

Laptop messages and photos showing Joe meeting with some of Hunter’s skeezy clients proved otherwise.

Revelations that the son got millions from Ukraine energy company Burisma, despite knowing nothing about energy or Ukraine, destroyed the fiction that this was a merit-based business.

So did crucial public statements by Tony Bobulinski, a former Hunter Biden partner who bravely authenticated many of the emails and identified Joe as the “big guy” slated for a 10% cut in a Chinese deal.

Central to this picture of a sprawling scam was the 2013 China trip where Hunter flew with his vice-president father on Air Force Two and returned with a huge investment from a Chinese bank.

Apparently we were supposed to believe the father never asked the son, “Hey, what are you doing on my plane and why are you going to China?”

In the event that any dead-enders believed Biden’s absurd denials, the nearby photos from that trip settle the argument.

In the 2024 election, one of Donald Trump's primary campaign promises was to get control of the nation's borders and conduct mass deportations of illegal aliens, beginning with known criminals and bad actors. Now these deportations will be a massive undertaking; nothing of the sort has been attempted since the Eisenhower administration, and if this is going to happen, it will be one of the largest logistical flexes the United States has ever carried out.

To help pull this off, President-elect Trump's (still not tired of writing that) pick for border czar, Tom "The Hammer" Homan, is now looking into some help from the armed forces - not for enforcement, but for logistics, including detention centers and transport, according to a new WSJ interview.

Donald Trump’s team is looking at using military bases to detain migrants and military planes to boost deportations, the president-elect’s incoming border czar Tom Homan said.

“It’s something that’s certainly on the table,” Homan said Friday in a wide-ranging interview, adding that specific plans haven’t been drawn up yet. “We’re waiting to see what Congress is going to give us for funding.”

Trump’s team plans to declare a national emergency on immigration on day one of his presidency, Trump has confirmed, which would allow the administration to divert money from the Pentagon for immigration purposes. Military troops can’t by law make arrests on U.S. soil, but Trump’s immigration advisers hope they can provide assistance in other ways to drive up deportations. The president-elect’s promised mass-deportation effort was a major pillar of his campaign.

As we previously reported, a recent interim report from the Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight found that the events of Jan. 6 were preventable. It also dropped some bombshell allegations against former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney including that she may have tampered with a witness, Cassidy Hutchinson. The report said "numerous federal laws were likely broken" by Cheney, the Vice Chair of the Jan. 6 Committee and recommended that they be investigated by the FBI.

Cheney did not handle the report well, tossing a bit of a fit. She went on and on about the pages of the report:

Their allegations do not reflect a review of the actual evidence, and are a malicious and cowardly assault on the truth. No reputable lawyer, legislator or judge would take this seriously.

But what she didn't do in her statement was deal with the questions about her communications with Hutchinson

As I previously said, we may find out soon if any "reputable, lawyer, legislator or judge" will take this seriously, if the FBI takes up the case.

CNN’s Scott Jennings criticized President Joe Biden’s leadership on Sunday, stating Americans have been “sick” of the last four years.

Recent data from FiveThirtyEight shows Biden’s average approval rating has dipped back to his record low with just 37.4% support. On CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Dana Bash asked the panel how they believed President-elect Donald Trump’s second term would differ from Biden’s come Jan. 20.

Prior to Jennings, Former Hillary Clinton campaign senior adviser Karen Finney said that while she expects Trump to be “bolder” in his second term, she believes Americans will grow “sick” of his choice to place “unelected corporate billionaires” in positions of power.

“I’ll tell you what I think Americans are sick of — Joe Biden. Uncommon nonsense that comes out of the Democratic Party. They’re sick of feeling like this country has been running in place, stuck in quicksand for the last four years. Three quarters of Americans think we’re on the wrong track,” Jennings said.

“But there are hints of optimism in the American people,” Jennings added. “There was a CBS News survey that came out last weekend. More Americans thought that Donald Trump would increase peace and stability in the world than that he would not.”

Costco’s board of directors has encouraged shareholders to vote to support its “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) program after it received a proposal to reject the practice.

The National Center for Public Policy, a conservative think tank, had urged Costco’s shareholders and board to strike DEI because it promoted discriminatory practices, according to the Kirkland, Washington-based retailer in a statement to shareholders.

Several companies, including Tractor Supply Co., Harley Davidson, John Deere, Lowes, and others, have announced they will repeal their DEI policies after facing pushback from conservatives and lawmakers.

In 2024, a number of universities—including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and the University of Michigan—have ended their prior practices of soliciting DEI statements for hiring and promotions.

“It’s clear that DEI holds litigation, reputational and financial risks to the Company, and therefore financial risks to shareholders,” the National Center for Public Policy said in its proposal to Costco, according to the statement. “With 310,000 employees, Costco likely has at least 200,000 employees who are potentially victims of this type of illegal discrimination because they are white, Asian, male or straight,” it added.

Costco’s board urged its shareholders to reject the group’s proposal.

“Among other things, a diverse group of employees helps bring originality and creativity to our merchandise offerings, promoting the ‘treasure hunt’ that our customers value,” Costco said in its proxy statement to its investors. “We believe (and member feedback shows) that many of our members like to see themselves reflected in the people in our warehouses with whom they interact.”

The proxy statement to its investors was uploaded on Costco’s website on Dec. 26, according to an Epoch Times review.

Jimmy Carter dead: Former president dies at 100 after hospice care

Former President Jimmy Carter, a onetime naval officer and peanut farmer who became the 39th president of the United States after promising citizens he would never lie to them, has died at the age of 100.

Carter’s death marked the end of the longest life of any former U.S. president. George H.W. Bush, who previously held the record, died in 2018 at 94. Carter and his wife Rosalynn, who died on Nov. 19, 2023, were married for 77 years, which is also the record for the longest marriage of a presidential couple.

Carter entered hospice care in Georgia to “spend his remaining time at home with his family” instead of additional medical intervention, the Carter Center announced on Feb. 18, 2023.

A one-term president from 1977 to 1981 who presided over a stagnant economy and a series of foreign policy setbacks, Carter enjoyed substantial popularity and goodwill in the decades after leaving office. He was particularly well-known for his work with the housing nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity and was regularly photographed helping build homes in his later years.

President-elect Donald Trump vowed throughout his presidential campaign to seek retribution against special counsel Jack Smith, who brought criminal charges against Trump that Republicans widely criticized as unfair.

Trump and his Republican allies in Congress, who will have complete control of Washington beginning in January, now aim to turn the tables and investigate Smith’s dual prosecutions of the president-elect.

Senate and House Judiciary committee members have sent preservation notices to Smith, telling him to save his records related to Trump, a sign that the lawmakers intend to summon testimony and documents from the special counsel next year.

TRUMP DEFENDERS POISED TO GO ON OFFENSE AT DOJ

Meanwhile, Trump’s attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi, said last year in a now-viral comment that “the prosecutors will be prosecuted, the bad ones,” signaling alignment with Trump’s mission to punish Smith for his work.

Smith was forced to terminate both of his cases against Trump, and his office plans to, according to reports, disband before Trump enters the White House. At the same time, Smith and his team are plotting out how best to respond to the anticipated GOP inquiries.

The popular mandate of President-elect Donald Trump is an affirmation of traditional masculinity.

The war on men, orchestrated by the extreme left, has suffered a serious setback with his election. Mr. Trump was told that he’d have to soften his message to appeal to women voters. He didn’t, and it doesn’t seem to have hurt him.

This year, Mr. Trump carried a majority of White women, as Republican presidential candidates have since 2004. Overall, Vice President Kamala Harris did worse among women than President Biden in 2020 or Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The image that symbolized Mr. Trump’s spirit came after he was wounded at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when he got to his feet, pumped his fist and shouted, “Fight! Fight!” If it had been Ms. Harris, she would have fainted, and, when revived, returned to the lectern to blather about “What can be, unburned by what has been.”

In the weeks before the 2016 Trump Electoral College victory, Donald Trump was polling between 35% and 40%.

He would average only about 41% approval over his tumultuous four-year tenure.

No one knows what lies ahead over the next four years. But for now, Trump already polls well over 50% approval.

His inauguration in a few weeks will likely not resemble Trump’s 2016 ceremony.

In the 2016-7 transition, Democratic-affiliated interests ran commercials urging electors to become “faithless,” and thus illegally to reject their states’ popular votes and instead elect the loser, Hillary Clinton.

We're a coalition, and coalitions have disagreements. It's a part of coalition politics, and we have to get used to it because everybody is not us. There's not one thing in the Donald Trump coalition. The debate over H1B visas with Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk is a prime example. I want to urge you not to consider it an absolute betrayal because some of the people who just joined our coalition are with you 95% of the time but not on the last 5%, making them "absolutely terrible."

Communist China announced the launch of massive assault ships, underscoring its relentless military expansion and growing ambitions on the international stage. These advanced amphibious warships, designed to project power across the seas, signal China’s intent to assert dominance in contested waters. Critics warn that these developments threaten regional stability and challenge the balance of power as Beijing’s aggressive military buildup continues to raise alarms among its neighbors and the broader international community.

The Sichuan, a super-sized 076 new-generation amphibious assault ship, launched for the first time this week during a naming ceremony for the world’s largest Navy. The vessel, under construction since at least October 2023, displaces 40,000 tons and is equipped with an electromagnetic catapult, allowing fighter jets to launch directly off its deck. Chinese military expert Song Zhongping compared the Sichuan to a “light aircraft carrier.” The world’s largest ship is designed to launch ground troops in landing crafts and provide them with air support. It will also be able to launch fighter jets and unmanned drones from an electromagnetic catapult and is equipped with“arrestor technology,” allowing fighter jets to land on its deck.

Defense News reported that China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been modernizing its forces for nearly a decade to operate globally and not be restricted to waters near the Chinese mainland. The communist nation has been working on a nuclear-power aircraft carrier that would allow PLAN to deploy vessels in faraway waters without needing a base to refuel.

Murder-Rape Victim's Mother: Biden Can't Justify Commutations

A Michigan woman whose 19-year-old daughter was raped and murdered is speaking out after President Joe Biden commuted the attacker's sentence from death to life in prison.

"Those that don't believe in the death penalty I believe, honestly, that they have never been traumatized by somebody so vile, that they couldn't comprehend where I'm coming from," the girl's mother, Velda Robinson, told The Detroit News this week. "They really shouldn't judge me for wanting it."

Robinson's daughter, Rachel Timmerman, was raped. In 1997, she and her family warned police that her attacker Marvin Gabrion would kill her.

He kidnapped Timmerman and murdered her. Her body was found in the Manistee National Forest. Her mouth and eyes were taped shut, and chains had been padlocked around her body. Her 11-month-old daughter, Shannon, has never been found.

Gabrion was sentenced to death in 2002, and has been appealing the ruling for 22 years before Biden commuted his sentence.

Just three men still face the death penalty: Robert Bowers, who killed 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018; Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who bombed the 2013 Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring dozens of others; and Dylann Roof, who killed nine Black churchgoers in South Carolina in 2015.

Robinson told The Detroit News that the death sentence for such crimes is important.

"People need to know that when you do something so heinous, you ain't going to get away with it," she said. "How does Biden justify whose crime is worse than the others? [The jury] made this decision and he just slapped the whole judicial system down."
