Elon Musk Says He Plans to Fund Moderate Democratic Primary Challengers

The tech mogul has pledged to fund moderate Democrats in primary races to oust incumbents he considers to be too extreme.

Elon Musk said he intends to fund moderate challengers in Democratic primary races, with his pledge coming in response to criticism from a Democrat lawmaker that the tech mogul is using his massive reach on social media to have an outsized influence on American politics.

Musk has been using X, the social media platform that he owns, to voice his opinions on federal programs, policies, and legislation that he opposes.

In a flurry of X posts in recent days, the tech mogul said he was against a sweeping 1,547-page bill that would have extended government funding through March 2025, telling his 200-plus million followers on the platform to “Stop the steal of your tax dollars” while adding that any lawmaker who votes for the spending bill deserves to be voted out in the 2026 mid-term election.

President-elect Donald Trump also expressed his opposition to the bill, which was ultimately voted down. A second version of the measure also failed to pass while House lawmakers passed a third version in bipartisan fashion on Dec. 20, sending it to the Senate and moving a crucial step closer towards averting a looming government shutdown that was set to take place at 12:01 a.m. ET on Dec. 21.

In a fiery floor speech on Dec. 18, Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.) criticized Musk’s opposition to the bill and his apparent influence on the U.S. political scene.

“Can you imagine what the next two years are going to be like if every time that Congress works its will and then there’s a tweet? Or from an individual who has no official portfolio, who threatens members on the Republican side with a primary? And they succumb?” Neal said in a clip re-posted by the Wall Street Mav account on X

In the weeks before the 2016 Trump Electoral College victory, Donald Trump was polling between 35 and 40 percent.

He would average only about 41% approval over his tumultuous four-year tenure.

No one knows what lies ahead over the next four years. But for now, Trump already polls well over 50% approval.

His inauguration in a few weeks will likely not resemble Trump's 2016 ceremony.

In the 2016-7 transition, Democratic-affiliated interests ran commercials urging electors to become "faithless," and thus illegally to reject their states' popular votes and instead elect the loser, Hillary Clinton.

Massive demonstrations met Trump on Inauguration Day.

In less than four months after assuming the presidency, Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed to investigate the hoax of Russian collusion.

That wasted 22-month, $40 million investigation found no collusion, but did derail the first two Trump years.

What followed the collusion ruse was a consistent effort to undermine the Trump presidency -- two subsequent impeachments, the laptop "disinformation" hoax, the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown, and news suppression of any mention of the Chinese lab origin of the virus or questioning the closing of schools.

In the Trump administration's last summer of 2020, 120 days of riot, arson, looting, assault, and murder followed, with the denouement of the January 6 turmoil.

In contrast, the 2024-5 Trump transition has all but assumed the presidency. Over 100 foreign leaders have elbowed each other to be invited to Mar-a-Lago or to phone in their congratulations to the newly elected Trump.

In the lead-up to the 2024 election, members of the leftist media and their Democratic friends backing Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly claimed Donald Trump couldn’t be president again because world leaders don’t respect him.

And yet, within moments of his historic victory on November 5, leaders from across the globe jumped to issue their congratulations on social media, with phone calls and official statements.

Wasting no time getting down to business, Trump started issuing tariff threats against a number of countries, including neighboring Canada.

"On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders," Trump said on Truth Social.

The remarks prompted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hop on a plane from Ottawa to Mar-a-Lago for a meeting, knowing tariffs would crush his economy if he couldn’t make a deal.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government has released a 17,000-page report revealing the Biden administration’s effort to use the government against political opponents.

The report, released in four parts, comes after a lengthy investigation into the White House’s efforts to censor dissenting voices on social media, “prebunk” a damaging story about the Biden family to influence the 2020 election, and other threats to free speech.

The document’s purpose is to expose misconduct within the executive branch under President Biden and to show that a “two-tiered” system of justice has been applied under his watch. The Subcommittee’s investigation examined federal agencies’ involvement in targeting whistleblowers, unjust surveillance, and suppressing constitutionally protected activities.

“For too long, however, the American people have faced a two-tiered system of government—one of favorable treatment for the politically-favored class, and one of intimidation and unfairness for the rest of American citizens,” the report reads.

As a result, “the House of Representatives authorized the creation of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government within the Committee on the Judiciary,” according to the report.

“The mission of the Select Subcommittee has been to protect and strengthen the fundamental rights of the American people. By investigating, uncovering, and documenting executive branch misconduct, the Select Subcommittee has taken important steps to ensure that the federal government no longer works against the American people.”

The worst thing any government can do is to fail to act on its promises. Across the world, there are governments of all stripes suffering for doing just that.

In Britain, the Labour government is already sinking in the opinion polls because it promised things it hasn’t been able to do. And it has also done things it promised not to do — like raising taxes.

It´s the same in Germany, Italy and other European countries, where governments promised to deport illegal asylum seekers and have so far failed to get almost anyone out of their countries.

But before the Trump administration has even taken office, there is a political problem that should have easily been avoided.

It's pretty astonishing that an outcry from the people, highlighted by President-elect Trump, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy stopped the monstrous,1,500-page continuing resolution in Congress.

Democrats of course threw a fit, trying to argue they needed to push it through for "disaster relief."

Here's Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA).

Hard to imagine anything more heartless than shutting down the government and leaving disaster victims out in the cold just days before Christmas. Absolutely outrageous this is even a possibility.

But they haven't done anything to help the people who are still suffering in North Carolina. And all they have to do to resolve that is have a clean bill without all the pork. So, the fault was on them and anyone who went along with this, as Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said.

The offenders here are those who write 1,500-page spending bills in secret & spring them on their colleagues days before Christmas with no time to debate or even read them

That's the thing. How can anyone vote for a 1,500-page bill, when they couldn't possibly read it all before they were called on to vote? Yet, they've done this time and time again in Congress.

The richest man on the planet with sprawling financial interests ranging from medical technology to publishing to military-grade rocketry has taken over the Trump presidency before it even begins.

Elon Musk invested over $100 million in President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign. Now, the multibillionaire is a constant presence at Mar-a-Lago, where he dishes advice on all things, including — perhaps especially — on matters that directly influence his own mammoth business interests.

The value of Mr. Musk’s Tesla has already reached $1.5 trillion, double its value on the day Mr. Trump got elected.

Understandably, political observers — from the foul, gutter-dwelling political hacks to high-minded good governance types — are concerned about this relationship and how it might be abused to Mr. Musk’s benefit.

Here is why you don’t need to be alarmed. (And, that said, keep an eagle eye on it. As Ronald Reagan advised: “Trust, but verify.”)

A Georgia appellate court said Thursday that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team should be removed from the election subversion prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump, likely dealing a knockout blow to the case.

The bombshell decision by the Georgia Court of Appeals upends one of the few remaining cases against Mr. Trump, who will be inaugurated on Jan. 20.

The panel concluded that Ms. Willis’ romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, a paid investigator on the case, was an impermissible financial conflict.

Trump allies said the decision shouldn’t be the end of the matter. They want Ms. Willis to be punished.

Lawyer Mike Davis, a Republican operative who leads the Article III Project against “leftist lawfare,” said Ms. Willis took illegal kickbacks.

“Fani lied about them under oath. Now Fani got disqualified. And Fani must go to prison,” Mr. Davis said.

Elsewhere, a New York judge is figuring out how to deal with Mr. Trump’s convictions of falsifying business records. A jury found him guilty in the hush-money case this year, though sentencing was delayed because of the presidential campaign and Mr. Trump’s victory.

House Republican leaders were struggling to cobble together support within their party for a bipartisan stopgap federal spending bill on Wednesday when President-elect Donald Trump weighed in hard against it and imploded the deal.

In a joint statement with Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Mr. Trump trashed the 1,500-plus-page legislation that would fund the government until March 14.

The two men called on Republican leaders to reject it and renegotiate a “clean” measure with Democrats that would eliminate a trove of spending and policy extras.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance told lawmakers to debate an increase in the nation’s debt ceiling, the current suspension of which is set to expire after January, to avoid fighting about lifting the borrowing limit when Mr. Trump takes office.

Congress, now back to the drawing board, faces a Friday deadline to pass a stopgap bill to keep the federal government from shuttering.

Trump told NBC News on Thursday morning he would "entirely" support abolishing the debt ceiling altogether.

White House aides covered up President Biden’s apparent mental decline from Day 1 of his presidency, shielding the aging commander-in-chief from the public and even rearranging his schedule after scatterbrained performances, an explosive report revealed Thursday.

The lack of access to the nation’s oldest-ever president has been well known in Washington — with Biden hosting the fewest large press conferences in modern history and frequently descending into gaffes at the podium when he appeared — but how much the White House made up for the haziness had until now been hidden, according to aides, Democratic lawmakers and donors who spoke with the Wall Street Journal.

Presidential staff formed a tight shell around Biden, 82, right after he took office amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with staff immediately limiting his in-person interactions in January 2021.

Biden’s meetings were rescheduled due to “bad days” in the early months of his presidency, the Wall Street Journal reported.

But staffers also began making adjustments to daily plans when the president appeared tired or kept stumbling on the world stage — both figuratively and literally.

By spring 2021, meetings were being rescheduled to accommodate for his “good days and bad days.”

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Wednesday that Senate Republicans feel an obligation to confirm President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees because of his "convincing victory" in November.

Johnson told "Newsline" that the Senate is "going to go through the confirmation process," adding that "the bias of most Republican senators, if not all, is that President Trump won a convincing victory" and therefore "it ought to be up to him to select who he wants to staff his administration with, who he wants to work with."

"And by and large, our bias is going to be to confirm his nominees unless there's some disqualifying thing that surfaces during the confirmation process," he said. "But for my part, as I've met with these individuals, first of all, they're all intelligent. They are fighters. President Trump is going to need fighters in these agencies."

OPINION:

The skies over New Jersey have been littered with strange flying objects for two weeks, and the feds are hiding the truth from terrified Americans or scratching their heads along with the rest of us. Since early December, there have been between 3,000 and 5,000 reports of large drones — some about the size of a pickup truck. They have three or four arms, at the ends of which are bright lights.

The drone I saw over the northwest tip of the state appeared to come toward me and stood perfectly still. Then — in a heartbeat — it was gone. I didn’t immediately call the police but spoke with them through back channels. New Jersey State Police dispatched a helicopter — manned by two troopers — to pursue the beast but not to interfere with it. As their helicopter approached, the drone fled from them and seemed to disappear.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy — who had no use for the Bill of Rights during the COVID-19 pandemic four years ago — sees no threat to public safety or peace. The White House — which must know the origin and nature of these things — also professes ignorance. President-elect Donald Trump — in this instance, a man after my own heart — said that if this happens on his watch, he’d order the drones shot down.

Don’t expect that from President Biden. Remember the two weeks in which we all watched a huge Chinese “weather” balloon make its way from Alaska to South Carolina, only to have it shot down over the Atlantic? That manifested Mr. Biden’s attitude about strange and terrifying flying objects.

Can people shoot these beasts out of the sky? The uncomfortable answer is yes and no.

Liberal governments across the world are slowly falling apart as the same issues that got President-elect Donald Trump elected are propelling the right globally.

Canada, Germany, France and other liberal governments have faced popular backlash, with issues like inflation, unchecked immigration and distrust of their ruling classes fueling conservative party victories, according to multiple sources. Moreover, the grievances expressed in the nations seemingly mirror those that propelled Trump to his 2024 election victory.

In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s popularity has taken a hit, with only 28% of Canadians approving of his job performance, according to the research non-profit Angus Reid Institute. Additionally, Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned from her cabinet post on Monday due in part to a dispute Trudeau had with Trump over tariffs, according to The Associated Press. Over 70% of Canadians say cost of living is the most important issue facing them, while 33% listed the economy and 27% said immigration were the most pressing issues, according to Abacus data in July. Under Trudeau, the cost of groceries increased by 21.4% from April 2021 to 2024, according to Statistics Canada.

Economic issues propelled Trump to victory as it did for many right-leaning parties globally, with 90% of U.S. voters saying prior to the election it was important to their vote, according to a Gallup poll released in October. Additionally, 72% of U.S. voters said immigration was important when deciding which candidate to support.

D.C.’s feckless response to all the drones over New Jersey was both arrogant and indifferent. Either the government is lying to us, or it does not know what is going on. Neither one is good.

The lights in the sky might be an alien planet’s UFOs. They are hovering over New Jersey and seem stuck, probably because they have yet to find any intelligent life there.

Biden, checked out and bitter, has not weighed in on the 5,000 drone sightings. He gets nervous about drones flying at night, and at his age is afraid to follow any light in the distance.

Biden is too busy trying to shovel taxpayer money out the door to Democrat bagmen and throwing rocks under Trump’s wheels. They are selling border wall materials for 5 cents on the dollar so we have to pay more for it soon.

And, what lame-duck president with just a few weeks remaining allows U.S. missiles to be shot into Russia? With Syria, Gaza, Iran, Houthis in the Red Sea and Israel on fire, Biden is making everything worse. It would be nice if his foreign policy was more about resolution of conflict than fulfilling ancient Biblical prophesies.

Noted attorney Alan Dershowitz said Tuesday that New York Justice Juan Merchan’s decision to postpone sentencing President-elect Donald Trump following his conviction was “clever but wrong” and violated Trump’s constitutional rights.

Merchan ruled Monday night that Trump did not have any presidential immunity in the case centered around a $130,000 payout to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Dershowitz said that Merchan was keeping Trump from appealing his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsification of business records. “What Merchan rules was that no, no, no of any of the actions that were introduced into evidence were private actions, actions outside of his role as president,” Dershowitz said. “Basically, what I’m saying is the whole case was outside of his role as president and therefore the Supreme Court ruling doesn’t apply at all.”

“The entire conviction is phony,” Dershowitz said. “The entire conviction is… based on nothing other than a made-up law and also their rulings. I was in the courtroom, I saw them. There are rulings that are so plainly unconstitutional… and plainly illegal that if there was an appeal, it would be reversed.”

President-elect Donald Trump has formally won the Electoral College, officially securing the presidency on Tuesday.

Trump reached the milestone when electors in Texas awarded him the state’s 40 electoral votes and sealed his victory.

Texas officials joined other presidential electors across the country as they convened at their respective state capitols to cast their electoral ballots and formalize Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election held on November 5.

Electoral votes for the election were allocated to states based on the 2020 Census. Each state’s electoral votes are equivalent to their number of House representatives and two senators representing their states. The Electoral College consists of 538 electors, and a majority of 270 is needed to win the presidency. Trump surpassed the required number on Tuesday, officially securing 312 electoral votes, while Harris won 226.

Earlier Tuesday, the president-elect celebrated Pennsylvania’s electoral vote certification. Trump won the crucial swing state, securing its 19 electoral votes.

“Our BIG Pennsylvania WIN. So nice!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, along with an image of the state’s official electoral college ballot.

Ministers from the UK and Australia have pledged closer ties while condemning Beijing and Pyongyang’s involvement in the Ukraine War.

Following the annual AUKMIN meeting at Lancaster House in London, defence and foreign ministers issued a statement covering a swathe of geopolitical tensions.

The ministers expressed strong condemnation of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, which they labelled a blatant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law.

Australia pledged to extend its participation in Operation Interflex, a UK-led initiative that has already trained over 50,000 Ukrainian recruits.

Beyond direct military aid, the ministers took aim at countries assisting Russia.

“Ministers shared deep concerns about the role of third countries in enabling Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine,” the ministers said.

On Monday, as we covered at the time, Judge Juan Merchan ruled that the hush money conviction against President-elect Donald Trump from May 30 withstands the U.S. Supreme Court ruling of Trump v. United States, handed down on July 1. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump weighed in with two strongly worded posts over Truth Social. From the start, Trump did not mince words, as he began by declaring his statement was "BREAKING."

"In a completely illegal, psychotic order, the deeply conflicted, corrupt, biased, and incompetent Acting Justice Juan Merchan has completely disrespected the United States Supreme Court, and its Historic Decision on Immunity," Trump went on to say. From the start, there have been concerns about Merchan's conflict of interest, including when it comes to his adult daughter, Loren Merchan.

"But even without Immunity, this illegitimate case is nothing but a Rigged Hoax. Merchan, who is a radical partisan, wrote an opinion that is knowingly unlawful, goes against our Constitution, and, if allowed to stand, would be the end of the Presidency as we know it," Trump went on to warn. He also continued to emphasize Merchan and "his family’s disqualifying and illegal conflicts[.]"

House Republicans indicated Tuesday that they want a criminal prosecution against former Rep. Liz Cheney.

A report released Tuesday on the select committee that investigated the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, not only blasted the “failures and politicization” of the now-dissolved panel, but accuses Ms. Cheney of witness tampering.

The 128-page report, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, Georgia Republican, calls for an FBI investigation of Ms. Cheney regarding the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide.

“It is unusual — and potentially unethical — for a Member of Congress conducting an investigation to contact a witness if the Member knows that the individual is represented by legal counsel,” the interim report states.

The report notes that Ms. Hutchinson was advised by her first lawyer to tell the panel she didn’t remember much about the day’s events, but later doing an about face when she switched lawyers.

According to Mr. Loudermilk’s report, Alyssa Farah Griffin, another former White House aide, acted as a backchannel between the two women to change lawyers and testimony.

A majority of Americans are optimistic about a second term for President-elect Donald Trump.

“Just over half (53%) the public feels optimistic about the policies Trump will pursue over the next few years, while 45% are pessimistic. These overall results are similar to public expectations when Trump was about to start his first term in 2017 (50% optimistic and 43% pessimistic), but there has been a notable shift in intensity among the president-elect’s fellow partisans,” according to a new poll from Monmouth University released Tuesday.

“Nearly all Republicans (97%) are optimistic about Trump’s agenda, as they were eight years ago, but 76% now report being very optimistic. This is a big jump from 53% of Republicans who felt very optimistic prior to Trump taking office in 2017. Among other partisan groups, 52% of independents feel at least somewhat optimistic about Trump’s policies over the next few years (50% in 2017), while just 10% of Democrats feel the same (18% in 2017),” the poll analysis said.

“Republicans are even more enthusiastic about a second Trump term than they were the first time around. They are particularly looking forward to him following through on the plans he promised,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.

“It should come as no surprise there is a stark partisan divide on the Trump agenda. The real question is how these policies will affect American families, especially among those who voted for Trump in 2024,” Mr. Murray said.

Rep. Brian Mast is the incoming chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee — and he appears ready to roll, with plans in place.

“I would say, number one, America is personal to me. I damn near gave my life for this place. So, I’m going to be emotionally invested,” the Florida Republican said Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom.”

BÀI 364: CHÍNH SÁCH Á CHÂU CỦA TRUMP


Từ dưới trào Obama, Á Châu đã trở thành ưu tiên hàng đầu của chính sách đối ngoại của Mỹ. TT Obama khi đó đã khai sinh ra chính sách gọi là 'chuyển trục qua Á Châu', một phần vì Trung Cộng ngày một lớn mạnh như thổi, bành trướng thế lực kinh tế và ảnh hưởng chính trị quá nhanh, đặc biệt là tại các quốc gia đang phát triển Phi Châu, và Nam Mỹ, phần khác là các quốc gia Á Châu từ Nhật tới Ấn Độ cũng ngày một mạnh, đóng vai trò then chốt trên địa chính trị thế giới.

Trong thế Tam Quốc quốc tế tân thời, vai trò chân vạc thứ ba của Nga ngày càng yếu thế, đặc biệt là trong thời điểm hiện tại, khi Nga ngày càng lún sâu hơn vào bãi cát lún Ukraine. Việc Nga dậm chân tại Ukraine phơi bày ra ánh sáng cái thế yếu khổng lồ của Nga trên phương diện quân sự, khiến Trump coi nhẹ đe dọa của Nga trong khi coi rất nặng nguy cơ Trung Cộng.

Với tân TT đắc cử Trump, chúng ta cần xem lại chính sách về Á Châu nói chung và đặc biệt về Trung Cộng nói riêng của ông ta sẽ như thế nào. Dù sao thì dân Việt tị nạn chúng ta vẫn không thể quên cái gốc, lo lắng cho số phận nước VN ta, cho dù là xứ nhất thời đang nằm dưới tay cộng nô.

Trước hết, xin bàn qua về cộng đồng Á Châu ở Mỹ.

Trump, SoftBank Announce $100 Billion US Investment

The investment projects 100,000 new jobs ‘at minimum’ over the next four years.

SoftBank, a Japanese internet services and telecommunications titan, will invest $100 billion in the United States over the next four years, President-elect Donald Trump announced at his Mar-a-Lago residence on Dec. 16.

The Tokyo-based company will allocate the $100 billion to U.S. projects centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-related infrastructure, such as energy, chips, and data centers. Trump estimated that it will create 100,000 jobs “at minimum” over the next four years.

It aims to complete the investments before Trump finishes his second term in 2029.

“This historic investment is a monumental demonstration [of] confidence in America’s future,” Trump, accompanied by his nominee for commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, told reporters at a news conference.

“It will help ensure that artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and other industries of tomorrow are built, created, and grown right here in the USA.”

Masayoshi Son, the founder and CEO of SoftBank, expressed his confidence in the U.S. economy with Trump at the helm.

Biden granted clemency last week to several Democrat politicians and public officials convicted on corruption charges.

Among the nearly 1,500 criminals whose sentences Biden commuted last week were at least three Democratic politicians and several other public officials, including a former judge notorious for putting thousands of kids behind bars for kickbacks.

Luzerne County Judge Michael Conahan, one of two judges convicted in 2011 for his role in the “Kids for Cash” scandal, had his sentence commuted by Biden. Conahan and another judge received millions from sending children to private detention facilities where they had a business interest.
