Trump 'Committed' to Spending $1T on Military in 2026

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Tuesday, 30 September 2025 11:55 AM EDT

President Donald Trump told military leaders Tuesday he is committing more than $1 trillion to strengthen the armed forces next year, the largest such investment in U.S. history.

"With that goal in mind, I've committed to spending over $1 trillion on our military in 2026, and that's the most in the history of our country," Trump said during remarks at Marine Corps Base Quantico. "That's a lot of money. I hope you like that. Ma'ams and sirs, I hope you like it. That's a hell of a lot of money."

Trump praised the military's "tremendous courage" in moving away from what he called a culture of political correctness, insisting the armed forces must be focused on "fitness, ability, character and strength."

"The apparatus of our country was not set up for merit. It was set up for political correctness. And you can never be great if you're going to do that," he said. "The purpose of the American military is not to protect anyone's feelings. It's to protect our republic."

A new poll shows that Americans, regardless of their political party, have no appetite for the games being played by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) or his party when it comes to threats to shut down the government.

On Tuesday, The New York Times released the results of a survey that asked Americans "Views on whether or not the Democrats should or should not shut down the government if their demands are not met." And the results showed that an overwhelming majority of Americans, by 65 percent, said the Democrats should not do it.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed the assembled general/flag-level officer commanders of the entire United States military, along with their senior enlisted advisors and select others. Standing in front of a large American flag, somewhat reminiscent of the famous General George Patton's 3rd Army speech from the movie "Patton," the president delivered remarks on a variety of topics, but one set of comments stood out. Specifically, the president called out some domestic problems, including drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and crime in our major cities.

Is he planning an increased military role in those matters?

First, the president's clear warning to the cartels involves
something that is already happening.

Former Fox Reporter Ordered to Give Up Source at FBI Who Leaked Private Information

Journalists claiming a First Amendment privilege to “protect” a source are rare, and few of them will go to jail for not giving up that source. Former New York Times reporter Judith Miller was a central figure in the Valerie Plame investigation. Miller resided in a jail cell for 85 days before she bent a partial knee and agreed to testify on a limited basis before a grand jury. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was “outted” by Miller, without Miller outing additional sources. When a grand jury is empaneled and a journalist refuses to give up a “source,” the journalist can remain in a cell for as long as a Grand Jury is empaneled. Once the grand jury is discharged, the journalist can go home. But what of cases in which a private citizen is “outted” by an FBI agent who violates a citizen's right to privacy, and the information that person seeks is in the context of civil litigation?

Such is the case with Yanping Chen. A decade ago, Chen was the subject of an FBI probe. Chen is a Chinese American and a scientist. FBI agents believed that Chen had lied on immigration forms, specifically about her “involvement” in a Chinese rocket program. Her home was raided and items seized.

But Chen was never charged. Two years after she was the subject of the investigation, (at the time) Fox reporter Catherine Herridge reported on the story. Her reporting included items seized in the FBI raid. Personal items. Those items were protected by the Privacy Act. Her business tanked. Although Chen was never charged with falsifying her immigration forms, the DoD cancelled her contracts with the department. Chen sued in civil court – in part, she
wanted to find out who had leaked the FBI file information to Herridge. Chen wanted to know who had violated her right to privacy under the Privacy Act. Appeals followed:

Yanping Chen alleges that federal officials violated the Privacy Act by disclosing records about her compiled as part of an FBI investigation. The records were published by Fox News. In discovery, Chen sought to compel Catherine Herridge—one of the journalists involved in publishing the records—to identify who had leaked them.

Again, this matter started 10 years ago with an FBI investigation that concluded with no charges. Herridge has refused to give up her source even while ordered to provide the source of the FBI information. Herridge has asserted two arguments. First, Herridge claims that because most of what she used for her story was in the "public domain," the illegally obtained information was a minor issue. Trivial. She argues that Chen’s claim is frivolous because, in essence, only “some” of the reporting was illegally obtained. The appeals court rejected Herridge's arguments

[S]o long as Chen establishes that some Privacy Act violation harmed her, she may recover actual or statutory damages if it was willful. 5 U.S.C. § 552a(g)(4)(A); Doe v. Chao, 540 U.S. 614, 627 (2004). In sum, Herridge’s arguments at most suggest that Chen is likely to recover only a small amount of damages, but that does not render her claim frivolous.

Having done so, the Court then established “more precise guidelines … to determine how the balance should be struck in a particular case.” And as explained above, it crystallized those guidelines into two inquiries “of central importance”—whether the information is “crucial” to the case and whether the litigant could obtain it from a “reasonable alternative source.”

Herridge nonetheless asks us to rule in her favor because (1) Chen’s Privacy Act claim is frivolous or meritless and (2) Lee conflicts with prior circuit precedent and therefore does not bind us. We reject both contentions.

The Appeals panel also rejected her reliance on the 1st Amendment argument, and her lawyers' use of dissents in Lee v. Department of Justice, 413 F.3d 53 (D.C. Cir. 2005).

[In Lee] this Court held that a litigant may overcome the privilege by showing centrality and exhaustion—even in a case where the reporter is not a party.

Chen had exhausted the Lee requirements and, after almost eight years, was asking the court to again demand that Herridge give up the source of the illegally obtained FBI file information.

In short, if the First Amendment itself does not entitle Herridge to disobey discovery obligations imposed on every other citizen in the circumstances of this case, we see little reason to create that entitlement as a matter of judge-made common law.

The court was unanimous. Herridge must finger the source of the Privacy Act violator. A lower court had fined Herridge $800 a day for not disclosing the source following her deposition, but stayed the order pending appeal. Now that the order will take effect, we will see if Herridge continues to hide her source.

The opinion concludes with this line:

For these reasons, we decline to recognize a federal common law newsgathering privilege.

My guess is Herridge is now “free” to disclose the FBI source based on a court order, and she will disclose her source. There is, I think, little chance the Supreme Court would grant certiorari. Herridge no longer works for Fox, and I doubt Fox would pay the fine to keep her from disclosing the source.

The monument to Barack Obama’s ego ain’t looking too hot.

For starters, construction on the ugly, behemoth presidential library and museum campus, which has uprooted 19 acres in the South Side of Chicago, has been painstakingly slow since its groundbreaking in 2021. Even before then, the project was
entangled in lawsuits and faced opposition from community members for years. Rent and home prices in the area had spiked since the project’s initial announcement in 2015, displacing poor residents, many of whom were black. (Subscribe to MR. The Pentagon has urged its missile suppliers to double or even quadruple their production amid critically short stockpiles and the potential for war with China, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Multiple Pentagon officials, including War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, met with industry leaders involved with missile technology to convey their ambitious target,
sources familiar with the matter told the WSJ. Pentagon officials and defense experts have long sounded the alarm of dwindling U.S. stockpiles of critical weapons, especially in the wake of an imminent invasion of Taiwan.

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth are exploring extraordinary avenues to expand our military might and accelerate the production of munitions,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told the WSJ. “This effort has been a collaboration between defense industry leaders and senior Pentagon officials.”

WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Why I’m introducing legislation to end government shutdowns

By Andy Barr
September 30, 2025 6:00 am

Every year, hardworking families sit around their kitchen tables and make sure their bills are paid. They don’t get to “shut down” their household if they miss a deadline. They make adjustments, tighten their belts, and do what’s necessary to keep the lights on and food on the table. Congress should be held to the same standard.

Unfortunately, Washington has developed a dangerous habit of letting partisanship produce
government shutdown after government shutdown. In this recent episode of the government shutdown saga, House Republicans did their job. We passed a plan endorsed by President Donald Trump to keep the government open and funded. But because of Senate Democrats and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), we are staring down the possibility of another disastrous government shutdown on Wednesday.

YouTube to Pay $24.5 Million to Settle Lawsuit With Trump

Trump had sued, arguing the popular social media platform unlawfully silenced conservatives after the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

YouTube agreed to pay $24.5 million to President Donald Trump to settle a lawsuit over suspending his account in 2021, according to documents filed in court on Sept. 29.

The social media website, owned by Alphabet, put Trump’s YouTube account on hold following the security breach at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump also sued Alphabet-owned Google, Facebook parent Meta, and X, then known as Twitter, arguing that they illegally suppressed conservative viewpoints. Meta and X agreed earlier this year to settle the respective lawsuits against them.

In the YouTube settlement, $22 million will be sent on Trump’s behalf to the Trust for the National Mall, a nonprofit that is involved in building a $200 million ballroom at the White House.

The balance of the settlement will be sent to other plaintiffs in the lawsuit, including the American Conservative Union, which runs the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Reuters contributed to this report.

Chinese Firms Hit by New Trump Blacklist

VIDEO

The Trump administration has expanded its national security trade restrictions to include subsidiaries of Chinese companies already on the Commerce Department's entity list

The rule is designed to prevent companies from bypassing U.S. sanctions by operating through subsidiaries or affiliates, strengthening protection for American technology and strategic interests.

Under the new policy, if a listed company holds a majority stake in another firm, that business will also face trade restrictions,
according to the Wall Street Journal.

The rule,
posted in the Federal Register on Monday, takes effect Tuesday.

The administration's move is focused on preventing the unauthorized transfer of artificial intelligence programming to China.

Officials say the measure is intended to safeguard U.S. national security and foreign-policy interests by ensuring that sensitive technology and material are not indirectly transferred to foreign entities that could pose a risk.

Trump to Join Pentagon's All-Hands Meeting

VIDEO

By Eric Mack | Sunday, 28 September 2025 11:37 AM EDT

President Donald Trump will reportedly attend War Secretary Pete Hegseth's rare and unprecedented all-hands gathering of military leaders Tuesday at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

"We have confirmation from the White House that POTUS is now attending the speech on Tuesday," according to a planning document sent to
The Washington Post

The notice was sent to the Pentagon because of bolstered security measures due to Trump's presence, according to the report. Hundreds of generals, admirals, and senior enlisted leaders from around the world — all one-star rank and above — have been ordered to attend the Tuesday meeting, described by officials as a speech on "warrior ethos" and military standards. Trump's attendance, confirmed over the weekend, will place the Secret Service in charge of security.

"I'll be there if they want me, but why is that such a big deal?" Trump
said in the Oval Office this week, downplaying the concern of generals questioning the purpose of the all-hands call. "The fact that we're getting along with the generals and admirals?"

"Remember, I'm the president of peace. It's good to get along. You act like this is a bad thing. Isn't it nice that people are coming from all over the world to be with us?"

The White House has not commented on Trump's upcoming appearance. Newsmax reached out to the White House press office for comment, but had not heard back as of publication.

The all-hands call was a move that shocked military leaders, the
Post reported Thursday.

Trump urged NATO to take a more assertive role in Ukraine's defense by using weapons to push back Russian advances directly on the front lines.

He suggested the U.S. would provide arms to NATO members — who would then deploy them to Ukraine — rather than shipping them directly from U.S. stockpiles.

This shift marks a departure from his prior posture of limited direct intervention, and reflects a broader recalibration of U.S. involvement in the war.

Those Trump statements in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came one day after newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz vowed at his first U.N. Security Council meeting this week that the U.S. is resolute in helping defend "every inch" of NATO territory.

President Trump addressed the UN General Assembly (UNGA) last Tuesday with a speech that delivered bold—and, for some, inconvenient—truths.

Aside from offering a clear rejection of globalism, President Trump took aim at the U.S.’s authoritarian enemies. He portrayed Russia in a negative light and launched pointed attacks at China. His speech also brought to mind lingering questions about the future of the UN and America’s role in it.

President Trump
alluded to the dysfunctional nature of the Russian military and how it has been unable to accomplish its strategic objectives against a much smaller military.

Everyone thought Russia would win this war in three days, but it didn't work out that way. It was supposed to be just a quick little skirmish. It's not making Russia look good; it's making them look bad.

During his remarks about the war in Ukraine, he
mentioned the substantial role that China—as well as India—has played in funding Russia’s aggression through its oil purchases.

China benefits from the war in Ukraine in multiple ways, from
distracting the West to selling its military equipment to Russia. President Trump highlighted the threat that biological weapons pose to international security and the need to address this concern—a clear shot at Beijing:

Just a few years ago, reckless experiments overseas gave us a devastating global pandemic, yet despite that worldwide catastrophe, many countries are continuing extremely risky research into bio-weapons and man-made pathogens. This is unbelievably dangerous. To prevent potential disasters, I'm announcing today that my administration will lead an international effort to enforce biological weapons convention, which is going to be meeting with the top leaders of the world by pioneering an AI verification system that everyone can trust.

He pointed out that the globalists’ climate policies have hit compliant countries’ economies the hardest over the decades while benefiting China—the world’s top polluter. China’s environmental impact ranges from air pollution to the dumping of waste into the world’s waters.

The Day of American Atonement

The indictment of James Comey should be the beginning of legal action taken against powerful individuals who abused their positions.

Rabbi Dr. Avraham Twersky once mused that if Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, occurred once every 50 years, a person who was alive when the day arrived would feel awfully lucky: he can clean out his closet of bad behavior, something that would not have been possible had he passed away just a year earlier. As it is, Yom Kippur comes every year, and I still marvel that my public school in the Chicago suburbs had the day as an official holiday. The fact that God gave the Jews Yom Kippur for atonement means two things: we do sin as per Torah law, and God in His infinite mercy allows us to find a way back to being better people. Fasting is the outward, well-known side of Yom Kippur. The 12 hours of intense prayers is the engine that runs the day.

Just as an individual needs atonement, so does a body politic. The recent indictment of Comey is a good start in that direction. A cynic would say that his indictment and the recent rummaging of the FBI through John Bolton’s boxers are simply payback for the way Donald Trump and his associates were treated. And if one lived his life without his glasses on, yes, the outward actions do seem very similar: federal intrusion followed by a real risk of losing one’s freedom during incarceration. The difference is in the details. Donald Trump and his friends were harassed, indicted, and even prosecuted and jailed as a form of political retribution. Had Donald Trump retired to play golf and build tall buildings, none of the cases brought against him would have been invented. The fact that the legal cases brought against Trump either collapsed or were thrown out is proof that they were built on sand for political and not legal reasons. The same cannot be said of Comey and his fellow criminal bureaucrats and politicians. Adam Schiff might think about looking for a second citizenship.

During Comey’s tenure at the FBI, he willingly passed along secret notes from his meetings with Donald Trump. These memos found their way into The New York Times. He started the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, though there was no intelligence actually linking Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin and the Russians. Comey began with a goal—remove or seriously weaken Trump—and then worked backwards in order to achieve it. Sidelining General Flynn was a key step, as he was the one veteran Trump appointee who could have seen what Comey and his band of criminals were up to. The recent revelation that no less than 274 FBI agents—under Christopher Wray—were in the J6 crowd is further confirmation that the FBI gave up crime fighting and focused its efforts on destroying Donald Trump and the millions of America-loving patriots who voted for him.

Democrats Need to Stand Up to Their Radicals Before It’s Too Late

Derek Hunter | Sep 28, 2025

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson

In June of 2017 I wrote, “I’m old enough to remember when ‘violent rhetoric’ was the root of allour problems, and crosshairs on a website no one ever saw was the reason for mass murder.” It was in a piece entitled, “The Left Won’t Rest Until Someone Gets Killed.” I wrote about how Democrats “are stoking fears to the point that even the casual observer is left with the impression they’re hoping someone ‘corrects’ that accident. How else can one interpret the left’s continual equating of the president to Adolf Hitler? What is implied in saying the man’s actions on an otherwise insignificant international agreement ‘is a grave threat to our planet?’”

I’m no soothsayer – if I had the ability to see into the future I would have won the lottery multiple times by now – but it doesn’t take someone clairvoyant to see that the road Democrats have been marching down for years was going to end in death and destruction. Well, here we are, and it has only just begun.

Just 2 weeks later, my column was titled, “Liberals Got Their Blood, Will It Be Enough?” What happened in those 2 weeks? A Democrat, inspired by the left’s hyperbolic rhetoric on health care and a rabid fan of MSNBC, tried to murder as many Republicans as possible on a baseball field in northern Virginia.

The talk at the time was about how politicians needed to “bring down the tone” of the political talk – a classic “both sides” situation, like saying men need to stop raping women, but also women need to stop wearing such short skirts and making men want to rape them. That was the attitude at that time, that is the attitude at this time.

The closest thing to a sane Democrat is the guy with literal brain damage, Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania, who said he found it disgusting that so many of his fellow Democrats cheered Charlie Kirk’s murder.

About 20 minutes after celebrating Kirk’s murder, Democrats returned to calling everyone who refused to conform to their wishes a Nazi and demanding ICE agents “show their faces” because “if you have nothing to hide, why hide your identity?”

Well, the last guy who made is name seeking to have an “honest dialog” with you people was murdered by one of you, so maybe that’s why they’re hiding their faces?

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: The Crudity Of The Obsessive-Compulsive Left

President Donald Trump just visited the United Nations to offer a customary annual presidential address.

Before he arrived, there were reports that UN staffers had joked about shutting down the escalator to chastise Trump for cutting out aid to some UN programs.

Upon arrival, as if on cue, Trump was met by a series of mysterious coincidences.

As soon as he and First Lady Melania mounted the escalator, it suddenly froze — forcing them to walk up.

Other escalators worked fine. Shortly afterward, the supposedly broken escalator was just as mysteriously running again.

When Trump went to the podium, his teleprompter mysteriously quit — and his alone.

As he
delivered his speech from a text, the amplification in parts of the assembly was mysteriously lowered to near imperceptible levels.

Despite UN denials, all three “accidents” were
too closely tied to Trump to be coincidences.

But they remind us that the left-wing hatred of the president has gone global — even after two near-successful assassination attempts.

The House of Representatives recently offered a resolution honoring the life and legacy of the conservative organizer Charlie Kirk, murdered by a leftist assassin.

The left both feared and hated Kirk. Why?

He had been singularly successful in redirecting youth’s natural rebelliousness against the status quo onto the ruling, ossified liberal establishment.

Kirk was winning over a new generation of young Americans to be counter-culturalists and counter-revolutionaries.

He urged them to question the entire left-wing orthodoxy of higher education, the corporate media, and popular culture — the ruling institutions that the baby boomers had enshrined as the current establishment.

His singular success may be why the terrified left attacked him as much after death as they had while he was alive.

The House effort had followed an earlier bipartisan unanimous resolution honoring a Democratic Minnesota state legislator and her husband, recently murdered by an anti-abortionist assassin.

But unlike that earlier commemoration unanimously passed by all Democrats and Republicans, Kirk’s resolution was variously opposed by over 118 Democratic House members.
(RELATED: 58 Democrats Vote Against Resolution To Honor Charlie Kirk’s Life)

The new radical Democrats who increasingly control the party, such as Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Jasmine Crockett, were vocal in smearing the resolution.

But they went well beyond voting no by gratuitously slandering the late Charlie Kirk as an inveterate racist and all-around toxic person not worthy of any commemoration.

The common denominator to all their hateful outbursts was their venomous ignorance, given that they either never referenced anything Kirk actually said and wrote or quoted him inaccurately.

The race-obsessed Crockett whined that “only two Caucasians” had opposed the resolution commemorating Kirk’s life.

But this was another lie, since the majority of Democrats expressed their opposition either by voting no (58), abstaining by voting present (38), or by not voting at all (22).

Thus, contrary to Crockett’s trademark racist ranting, the majority of Democratic House members who opposed the resolution included far more than “two Caucasians.”

And even if she were honest, in her racialized world of hatred, would it have been more racist if only “two Caucasians” had opposed the resolution or if the vast majority of the Hispanic and Black caucuses in bloc fashion had overwhelmingly and disproportionately condemned and denigrated Kirk and the resolution?

This increasing coarseness of the left follows its recent canonization of the murderer Luigi Mangione.

The left-wing media also suffocated news stories about the horrific, lethal throat-slitting of immigrant Iryna Zarutska by 14-time felon DeCarlos Brown.

Violent attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement centers and individual officers are now routine and more praised than condemned by the left.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is emblematic of this fury and frustration of the new, obsessive-compulsive left.

His state is in free-fall.

Huge deficits, unfunded mandates, and the highest housing costs, gas prices, and income taxes in the nation force hundreds of thousands of residents yearly to leave.

California’s electricity and gas are likewise the costliest in the U.S.
(RELATED: Gavin Newsom Tries To Own Trump By Bragging About ‘Absurd’ California Energy Policies)

The poverty rate is over 20% of the population.

A third of the nation’s welfare recipients live in California. Nearly half of its homeless do too.

Newsom neglects all these existential challenges and instead seeks to outdo his leftist wannabe presidential rivals.

Shortly after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Newsom tweeted an implied threat last Saturday to Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem,
warning her that she was “going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America.”

He had also earlier threatened the president with violence, “We are going to fight back and we’re going to punch this bully in the mouth.”

And Newsom had earlier extended that warning to half the nation of Trump supporters: “I’m gonna punch these sons of bitches in the mouth.”

The only mystery about the new obsessive-compulsive left is whether their vulgarity, violence, and crudity trickle top-down from the uncouth Democratic elite — or rise bottom-up from thuggish Antifa, BLM, and the rioters who attack ICE and Tesla dealerships, and disrupt Charlie Kirk’s funeral services.

The Obama Foundation funneled $2 million into the left-wing Tides Center, a clearinghouse for “dark money” that bankrolls progressive activist groups with untraceable funds, newly released tax filings show.

Federal records reviewed by the New York Post show the foundation
gave $1 million in 2022 and another $1 million in 2023. While the donations were described as support for “local organizations that are working to reduce violence in communities,” the money instead moved through a network that steers tens of millions into the Tides Foundation — a major pass-through funder for left-wing causes. (RELATED: If You Want To Crack Down On Left-Wing Terror, Here’s Where To Start)

During the same period, the Tides Center shifted nearly $20 million to the Tides Foundation, which in turn bankrolls a wide array of progressive activist groups.

Parker Thayer, an investigative researcher at the Capital Research Center,
told the Daily Caller News Foundation that “The Tides Network, marching in lockstep with similarly sized left-wing ‘dark money’ groups … poured hundreds of millions of dollars from totally untraceable sources into activism meant to sway the outcome of elections.”

Republicans Urge Democrats to Agree to Short-term Bill to Keep US Government Open

Sunday, 28 September 2025 12:11 PM EDT

Ahead of a meeting between lawmakers and President Donald Trump, the Republican leaders of Congress sought on Sunday to blame Democrats for an impasse prior to a looming deadline to pass legislation to avert a government shutdown and urged them to agree to a short-term bill to buy some time.

Without passage of funding legislation, parts of the government would close on Wednesday, the first day of the U.S. government's 2026 fiscal year. Republicans control both chambers of Congress, but a temporary measure keeping the government open would have to amass at least 60 votes in the 100-seat Senate, meaning some Democratic votes would be needed.

Senate Democrats have rejected a short-term bill, demanding that any legislation undo recent Republican cuts to healthcare programs. The Republican president has summoned congressional leaders from both parties to a White House sitdown on Monday to discuss funding legislation.

The Republican congressional leaders said they are eager to avert a shutdown.

Kash Patel Clarifies Why There Were Hundreds of FBI Agents on the Hill on January 6

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been cagey regarding its activities on January 6. The allegation that undercover operatives were embedded in the crowd during the riot isn’t tin foil hat material—the bureau admitted it. The inspector general tried to deny it, but there was no spinning this. The FBI had agents on the ground, some of whom entered the Capitol Building. Now, we’ve learned that there were hundreds of agents on the ground this week, around 275. FBI Director Kash Patel had to clarify what the FBI was doing over the weekend, and former FBI Director Chris Wray might be hauled before Congress again. Mr. Patel said that agents were dispatched for crowd control (via Fox News):

The FBI responded on Saturday to a report that 274 plainclothes agents were at the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, clarifying the role of bureau personnel while still blasting former Director Christopher Wray.

While the agents were on hand, they were sent in after the riot had begun to try to control the unruly crowd, officials told Fox News Digital. That is not the proper role of FBI agents, and Wray was not forthcoming about what happened when he testified numerous times on Capitol Hill, Director Kash Patel said.

"Agents were sent into a crowd control mission after the riot was declared by Metro Police – something that goes against FBI standards," Patel told Fox News Digital. "This was the failure of a corrupt leadership that lied to Congress and to the American people about what really happened."

He added, "Thanks to agents coming forward, we are now uncovering the truth. We are fully committed to transparency, and justice and accountability continues with this FBI."

[…]

Wray told a House Committee on Nov. 15, 2023, "If you are asking if the violence at the Capitol was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or agents, the answer is no," but he wouldn’t disclose if any agents or sources were embedded within the crowd.

Trump Targets UN's Irrelevancy

The escalator stopped working as President Donald Trump and the first lady entered the United Nations on Tuesday.

Then, as Trump began to deliver his speech to the General Assembly, the teleprompter didn't work. Whether the glitches were engineered or not, Trump saw the stumbles as proof that the U.N. is not up to his standards.

They also served as permission structures for Trump to ask what he no doubt planned to ask: "What is the purpose of the United Nations?"

"All they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter — and then never follow that letter up," Trump told the room.

Message to Our Betters in the International Community: You don't look strong recognizing a Palestinian state that does not even exist on paper.

"Your countries are going to hell,"

Trump warned as he lambasted the UNGA lords, not only for embracing a two-state solution, but also for supporting open borders and global warming. Trump also warned that the resolution's recognition of a Palestinian state wrongly would reward the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacks that left some 1,200 dead in Israel.

He called on the world to rally behind a better message: "Release the hostages now."

For Trump, UNGA never has been Woodstock.

During his first UNGA in 2017, Trump was the bull in Turtle Bay's china shop. He called North Korea strongman Kim Jong Un "Little Rocket Man."

In 2018, dignitaries laughed when Trump proclaimed, "In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country."

This go-round, Trump has solid accomplishments in his portfolio.

He ordered an airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities, backed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu even as U.S. allies distanced themselves, and wrangled NATO nations to agree they should funnel a higher percentage of their GDP - 5% — on national-security spending.

Now they can snicker — but at their own risk.

OPINION:

James B. Comey, former FBI director, was indicted on two federal charges for lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding, and now he faces five years in prison.

And now his “heart is broken,” he said.

And now it’s time to cue the world’s tiniest violin.

“No one is above the law,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X. “[This] indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case.”

Comey claims he’s innocent.

But not just a little bit innocent — but a la Ben Stiller’s “ridiculously good
looking” Zoolander character, — really, really, really, ridiculously innocent.

Innocent enough that his heart breaks for all of America.

“We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either,” he
said in a video post on Instagram.

TAIPEI, Taiwan—The Taipei District Court has convicted four former members of Taiwan’s ruling party—including one who previously worked for the president—of spying for China, as Taipei continues to resist the Chinese communist regime’s efforts to undermine the self-ruling democracy.

The court handed down prison sentences ranging from four to 10 years for the defendants, all four of whom were found guilty of leaking state secrets to China, according to a
statement released on Sept. 25. They were indicted on multiple charges in June.

The case is considered a high-profile espionage case in Taiwan because it involves former members of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), a political party whose leaders, including current President Lai Ching-te, have been labeled by China as “separatists” due to their outspoken defense of the island’s sovereignty. The DPP expelled the four in May.

Among them was Ho Jen-chieh, a former secretary to then-Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, who currently leads the National Security Council.

Ho was accused of collecting classified documents and passing them to Huang Chu-jung, who then transmitted the information to Chinese intelligence agents through encrypted software in exchange for money, according to the court.

Huang also recruited a former political adviser at Lai’s office—during Lai’s tenure as vice president under the previous administration of Tsai Ing-wen—through Chiu Shih-yuan. The court said that Chiu directed the adviser, Wu Shang-yu, to provide documents, including the president’s plans for foreign trips, and the vice president’s domestic campaign itinerary, with which Wu complied.

YouTube censorship scandal reveals Democratic free speech hypocrisy

By Brad Polumbo
September 27, 2025 6:00 am

Now that President Donald Trump is president once more and flexing the might of the federal government to punish the press and pressure media companies, Democratic critics are crying foul and suddenly rediscovering the First Amendment. And to be fair, many nonpartisan, consistent free speech advocates have the credibility to challenge Trump on some of these oversteps. But the many Democratic elected officials suddenly singing the praises of the First Amendment and condemning government pressure on private platforms simply do not have a leg to stand on — and YouTube just reminded us why.

In a
letter to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the platform admitted that they were extensively pressured by the Biden administration to censor Americans’ First Amendment-protected free speech on issues such as COVID-19 and elections, even when that content did not actually violate YouTube’s policies.

Trump’s United Nations speech warns of the destruction of western values

COMMENTARY

By Editorial Board - The Washington Times - Wednesday, September 24, 2025

OPINION:

President Trump is tired of globalists’ exploitation of Western societies. Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, the president offered world leaders a road map for reclaiming lost greatness.

He delivered a dire warning to the European democracies that have fallen under the spell of open borders and climate change theology. “Both the immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe if something is not done immediately. This cannot be sustained,” he said.

It’s rare to see an American president speak so frankly from the podium, risking the inevitable tut-tut from ink-stained scolds worldwide. “It’s not politically correct,” Mr.
Trump said. “I’ll be very badly criticized for saying it, but I’m here to tell the truth. I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to me.”
