Taiwan Rejects Beijing’s Threats, Warns Against Regional Destabilization

Taiwan’s defense ministry urges Beijing to cease its acts of intimidation, vowing strong opposition to any attempt to alter the status quo by force.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense has called on the Chinese regime to stop its acts of intimidation in the wake of large-scale military operations in the Taiwan Strait.

“Any attempts to change the status quo by force will be firmly opposed by all Taiwanese people,” the ministry said in a press release in Chinese on Feb. 28. “We hope the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) can face the reality that resolving differences through peaceful dialogue is the right path to meet the interests of all parties in the region.”

The statement followed China’s People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA’s) announcement that it would be conducting exercises in the Taiwan Strait on Feb. 26—a communique that was followed by the presence of 45 Chinese warplanes and 14 Chinese navy ships near the island.

The Taiwanese ministry statement also follows comments made by Chinese defense ministry spokesperson Wu Qian on Feb. 27, in which he threatened Taiwan, saying, “We will come and get you, sooner or later.”

According to the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense, the Chinese defense ministry spokesperson’s attitude is counterproductive.

“History has proved that any form of aggression and expansion will ultimately end in failure. The PLA’s recent actions are following the same paths as previous aggressors and are stubbornly pushing China towards defeat,” it said in the statement.

President Donald Trump suggested that either former President Joe or his corrupt son Hunter Biden is responsible for the cocaine found in the White House in July 2023, promising to launch an investigation into the matter. In a statement, Trump implied that the discovery of the drugs raised serious questions about the Biden family's involvement, vowing to push for a thorough probe.

During an interview with the Spectator World, Trump said that his return to office convinced him that “either Joe or Hunter” misplaced the cocaine in the West Wing of the White House when asked, "Who actually left the cocaine in the White House?” The president promised to investigate the matter “because … bad stuff happened there.”

“That was such a terrible thing because, you know, those bins are very loaded up with … they’re not clean, and they have hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” Trump said, referring to the lockers where the cocaine was found. “And when they went to look at it, it was absolutely stone cold, wiped dry with the strongest form of alcohol. You know that, right?”

Interviewer Ben Domenech pointed out that he had worked as a Bush speechwriter for a short period, stating he “knew exactly what they were talking about.”

“And I was like, 'Those things are filthy.' They’re filthy,” Domenech said.

After the white substance was discovered, the Biden administration initiated an investigation. However, the probe was suddenly halted despite uncovering partial DNA evidence, leaving the suspect unidentified.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan sent subpoenas to the executives of eight major tech companies this week, seeking information on foreign governments’ efforts to censor Americans online.

The Ohio Republican issued subpoenas to Alphabet, Google parent company, as well as Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Rumble, TikTok and X seeking details on each platform’s efforts to comply with foreign laws.

“To develop effective legislation, including new laws protecting American speech from the effect of foreign governments’ censorship laws and judicial orders, the Committee must first understand how and to what extent foreign laws, regulations and judicial orders have limited Americans’ access to lawful speech in the United States, as well as the extent to which the Biden-Harris administration aided or abetted these efforts,” Mr. Jordan wrote in the letters.

The demands for information come as the Judiciary Committee said it is seeing U.S. companies increasingly sounding alarms about foreign censorship that infringes on Americans’ civil liberties.

Mr. Jordan’s letters noted that X has pushed back against judicial orders from Australia and Brazil to take down content on its site, while Meta has expressed similar concerns.

President Trump is planning to sign an executive order Friday making English the official language of the U.S.

The order “encourages new Americans to adopt a national language that opens doors to greater opportunities,” according to a White House fact sheet.

It rescinds a mandate from then-President Clinton in 2000 that required any entity that receives federal funding to provide language assistance to non-English speakers.

“Agencies will have flexibility to decide how and when to offer services in languages other than English to best serve the American people and fulfill their agency mission,” the sheet said.

The U.S. has never had an official language in its 249-year history.

Recruitment and diversity issues plaguing Australia’s military will only embolden the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), according to former soldier and current federal member for Menzies, Keith Wolahan.

Wolahan made the comments to The Epoch Times as Australian leaders monitor the activities of a trio of CCP People’s Liberation Army-Navy warships as they circumvent the country.

On Feb. 21, the flotilla caused a stir when it began apparent live military exercises in the Tasman Sea, causing several commercial flights to be rerouted.

New Zealand’s Defence Minister Judith Collins warned the naval task group was “extremely capable” with the Renhai-class cruiser able to carry ballistic missiles with a range of about 1,000 kilometres.

Victorian-based MP Wolahan warned that if such a situation ever escalated, Australia was far from ready to defend itself.

“There is a broader worry about bureaucracy in defence. And that manifests itself not only in recruiting but also in equipment that is ready for service,” he said.

The U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is deciding the fate of President Donald Trump’s second term thanks to a case involving nearly $2 billion in foreign-assistance payments.

On Jan. 20, Trump issued an Executive Order titled “Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid.” The order’s purpose was to enact a 90-day pause in United States foreign development assistance for assessment of programmatic efficiencies and consistency with United States foreign policy.”

“It is the policy of the United States that no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President,” the order stated.

President Donald Trump has announced an additional 10 percent levy on Chinese goods entering the United States, on top of a 10 percent levy already imposed on China on Feb. 4.

The tariffs on China, as well as proposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico, will go into effect on March 4, Trump confirmed on Feb. 27 on social media platform Truth Social.

Illicit drugs “are still pouring into our country from Mexico and Canada at very high and unacceptable levels,” Trump wrote.

“We cannot allow this scourge [of illicit drugs] to continue to harm the USA, and therefore, until it stops, or is seriously limited, the proposed TARIFFS scheduled to go into effect on MARCH FOURTH will, indeed, go into effect, as scheduled.

“China will likewise be charged an additional 10% Tariff on that date.”

Additionally, he confirmed that reciprocal tariffs “will remain in full force and effect” in April.

This year, the MAGA contingent of this country — which numerically and electorally turned out to be most Americans — is a critical element of an unprecedented mandate.

President Trump, along with supportive legislators and constituents, is tasked with making quick, major overhauls to how the government fulfills its mission. It occurs to me that the work required is akin to Excalibur, the sword of the Arthurian legends.

The legendary sword was said to be magical. It was firmly lodged in stone and could only be pulled out by "the true king." Arthur was able to dislodge the sword and lent it to trusted followers, including an Irish warrior and the Earl of Cornwall, to complete his missions. The sword has magic powers, but great effort must be exerted to invoke them.

As War Room star and presidential adviser Steve Bannon says, "President Trump can't do it alone." It's in this context that thousands of people from around the world attended the recent CPAC convention at Maryland's National Harbor, including me.

King Charles III has invited US President Donald Trump for an "unprecedented" second state visit to Britain, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said while visiting the White House on Thursday.

"This is really special, this has never happened before, this is unprecedented," Starmer said in the Oval Office as he handed Trump a hand-signed letter from the monarch containing the invitation.

"This is truly historic."

Trump made a state visit during his first term in office in 2019, when he met the late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles's mother.

Cruz initiated a subpoena through his Senate Commerce Committee against Bonterra, an online service provider accused last year of censoring conservatives, demanding documents related to the deplatforming of the Independent Women’s Forum. During an appearance on “Carl Higbie: Frontline” Cruz said the goal is twofold: exposure and legal action.

“You start with exposure, because Big Tech often hides behind. They deny that they’re doing anything, and they’re the custodians of all the information. So if someone is shadow-banned on old Twitter or on Facebook, they say, ‘Well, there’s no empirical evidence. There’s no data that shows this is happening,'” Cruz told Carl Higbie. “That’s because you have all the data. And so exposing it is the first step.”

The senator said his strategy involves not just bringing these issues to light but also leveraging the full might of the federal government.

President Donald J. Trump clinched another legal win at the Supreme Court, temporarily blocking a lower court’s ruling over foreign aid. Trump mandated a 90-day freeze, which U.S. District Judge Amir Ali ordered must be restored as the president didn’t consider the “extraordinary harm” this action could do. It’s lunacy that these little judges think they can dictate what the executive can do. This ruling should’ve been ignored; Biden dismissed the Supreme Court in student loan relief.

Whew!

Just as it appeared we were about to careen over a woke cliff into a neo-Marxist abyss and oblivion, our once-fired "driver" got his job back, slammed on the breaks, and did so just in the nick of time to avert seemingly certain disaster.

Still, that sudden jolt has left this writer with admitted confusion, as I now experience some of those near-death flashbacks that we often hear about — images that had so recently come to be accepted by many as a "new normal."

Take, for example, a guilt I was supposed to own as a chance result of being born as a white male who has been unfairly rewarded, as with others of my privileged ilk, for merit-worthy achievements.

That was even before during his first day in office President Joe Biden issued a seemingly reasonable and compassionate executive order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities, which institutionalized "equity" as a trigger term many of us hadn't bargained for.

Notice, for example, that the order didn't refer to advancing racial equality — the bedrock principle enunciated by America's founders in the second paragraph of our nation's Declaration of Independence: ''We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.''

The European Union would need to spend about 250 billion euros (about $262.4 billion) annually to defend itself against Russia without U.S. support, a study published on Feb. 21 found.

The study’s authors from the Bruegel think tank in Belgium and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany said this would require spending the equivalent of 1.5 percent of the EU’s GDP to mobilize 300,000 more soldiers.

The study said the EU would need 50 additional army brigades, 1,400 tanks, 2,000 infantry fighting vehicles, and 700 artillery pieces to prevent a rapid Russian breakthrough in the Baltics.

“This is more combat power than currently exists in the French, German, Italian, and British land forces combined,” according to the study. Europe would also have to produce about 2,000 long-range drones every year.

“German leadership and commitment will be critical,” the study’s authors said.

“Germany would have to ... increase German national defense spending from 80 billion [euros] to 140 billion [euros], or approximately 3.5 percent of GDP, to be topped up with joint EU funding.”

WARNING: China is very close to gaining control of the Organization of American States (OAS) unless President Donald Trump stops it dead in its tracks.

The OAS was created and backed by the U.S. in 1948 to stop communism across Latin America.

But today, after four years of President Joe Biden, it has become a hotbed of left-wing, anti-American vitriol as it backs China's march across the region.

President Trump immediately grasped the threat China poses across the region. He sent a clear message to the Panamanians: Play with China and we'll take back our canal.

Fearing Trump, Panama immediately took steps to break its close ties to China.

Make no mistake: China is seeking to dominate Central and South America — spending money to buy up whole governments.

The U.S. used to be the main trading partner for most Latin countries. Now China dominates trade to much of the region.

Beijing's play is to control natural resources, including oil and gas — all while ringing the U.S. with hostile regimes.

What's China's current move? It wants control of the OAS and it wants its guy in charge of it.

FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino have an opportunity to solve some of the nation’s biggest mysteries, from the Jan. 6 pipe bomber to the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Jan. 6 Pipe Bomber

After an investigation lasting over four years, the bureau has apparently not discovered the suspect accused of placing pipe bombs at the headquarters of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and Republican National Convention (RNC).

In January, the bureau published a video that appeared to show the suspect planting a bomb near the DNC. Despite the FBI’s $500,000 reward for information resulting in the arrest and conviction of the suspect, the investigation has yet to be resolved.

Prior to the agency’s announcement, two House oversight subcommittees published an interim staff report slamming the January 6th Committee for failing to thoroughly investigate the pipe bombs. (RELATED: Kash Patel Fires Up First Statement As FBI Director, Tells Media ‘Bring It On’)

The report found that law enforcement did not conduct a thorough sweep of the DNC’s headquarters, allowing then-Vice President Kamala Harris to walk into the building while the pipe bomb was still outside.

The report also said the pipe bombs helped divert law enforcement “from the Capitol at a critical time.”

Although the FBI has not identified the suspected pipe bomber, the bureau has identified over 1,500 people related to events at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump signed a day one executive order pardoning and commuting the sentences of approximately 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants.

Newly named FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent who previously hosted “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino” on Fox, covered the Jan. 6 pipe bomb on his show and deemed it an “unsolved mystery.”


Thomas Matthew Crooks

There are more questions than answers surrounding Thomas Matthew Crooks, the individual who attempted to assassinate Trump at a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

He took the life of firefighter Corey Comperatore and injured two other rally attendees in addition to Trump. Crooks was killed by the Secret Service.

But almost nine months later, little is known about the gunman.

Three of China’s naval ships sailed near Papua New Guinea and then as close as 150 nautical miles east of Sydney, Australia.

On Feb. 21, they warned three civilian planes over the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand of impending live fire drills. This forced the New Zealand-bound planes to reroute after they had already departed Australia. The airlines included Qantas, Virgin, and Emirates.

The lack of advance notice created umbrage in Canberra and Wellington. Beijing subsequently declined to explain itself. Aussie and Kiwi officials heard about the drills from the civilian planes. Not very professional.

But dangerous brinkmanship is the modus operandi of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

In mid-February, a Chinese J-16 fighter harassed an Australian P-8 Poseidon surveillance jet over the South China Sea by releasing flares within 30 meters (100 feet) of the plane. The flares got close enough that they could have destroyed the Aussie plane’s engines and forced it down. If it had landed on the Paracel Islands or Hainan, for example, as a U.S. EP-3 signals intelligence (SIGINT) plane was forced to do in 2001, it would have handed an intelligence bonanza to the PLA. After Canberra complained, Beijing’s foreign ministry spokesman merely brushed off the criticisms.

A similar incident occurred over the Yellow Sea in May 2024.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. House of Representatives on Feb. 25 gave the green light to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) blueprint for a massive budgetary package to carry out President Donald Trump’s agenda.

The House approved the resolution in a 217–215 vote. It authorizes relevant House committees to find at least $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, and a $4 trillion bump to the debt ceiling.

Only a single Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), voted against the resolution, while one Democrat, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), is away for medical reasons.

The vote on the proposal occurred just minutes after leadership announced last-minute that they were pulling it from the floor. Many lawmakers who were leaving the Capitol had to hurriedly return to the chamber.

Republicans gave a round of applause after the final Republican ballot had been cast, reflecting the relief after uncertainty and speculation had surrounded the proposal in the days leading up to the vote. Many went to personally shake Johnson’s hand, marking the political victory he had achieved after weeks of skepticism from both Senate Republicans and political commentators.

The resolution’s passage means that work will now be sent to multiple committees in the House, with assignments to find potential spending cuts and to draft legislative proposals in areas related to border security, defense, energy, and taxes.

President Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order opening an investigation into whether foreign production and imports of copper threatens America’s economic and national security.

The directive orders Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to lead the probe and determine whether new tariffs on foreign copper are warranted.

“Copper is a critical material that is used in manufacturing and construction but also has applications in the U.S. military because it is used to build ships, tanks and aircrafts. It is also used in electric vehicles and artificial intelligence,” the order stated.

New leadership at the FBI is starting an investigation into the origins of the agency’s plan a decade ago to infiltrate the campaign of then-candidate Donald Trump using two female undercover “honeypot” agents.

The off-the-books investigation, launched in 2015 by former FBI Director James Comey, was revealed by an agency whistleblower in a protected disclosure to the House Judiciary Committee last year and first reported exclusively by The Washington Times in October.

In the intelligence community, a honeypot commonly refers to an undercover operative, usually a woman, who feigns sexual or romantic interest to obtain information from a target.

According to the whistleblower, two female FBI undercover employees infiltrated Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign at high levels and were directed to act as “honeypots” while traveling with Mr. Trump and his campaign staff.

The Times has learned that the bureau, now led by Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, is looking for those once-undercover employees who were previously under Mr. Comey’s direction.

The FBI declined to comment.

President Trump has ordered the federal government to strengthen measures against Chinese investments in the U.S. that pose national security dangers, in a sweeping policy directive.

The presidential national security memorandum signed on Friday seeks to promote foreign investment in the U.S. from friends and allies. The policy also wants to limit purchases from adversaries, “particularly from threats posed by foreign adversaries like the People’s Republic of China,” the White House stated in a fact sheet.

In particular, the Treasury Department-led Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, known as CFIUS, which reviews and can block foreign purchases of U.S. companies or land, is getting new powers to limit Chinese deals in the U.S.

“The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States will be used to restrict Chinese investments in strategic U.S. sectors like technology, critical infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, energy, raw materials, and others,” the fact sheet said.

There are those today questioning why America should continue to confront China and risk a possible war costing countless lives and devastating the world.

Rather, they would have America come to an accommodation with China, allowing both global superpowers to coexist harmoniously and prosper.

Seductive as this sentiment may be, especially given the prospect of the alternative, it fails to fully consider the nature and ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and particularly those of its supreme leader, Xi Jinping.

Despite the liberal media and famed Clinton strategist James Carville's fondest wishes, after a month of historic transformational activity, public opinion is still on President Trump’s side, and he enjoys majority approval from the voters.

However, big challenges remain — especially the most important issue of mustering House and Senate majorities to support President Donald Trump’s pro-growth tax cut to give relief to working middle class voters.

Conquering these 2025 challenges are essential to success in the 2026 midterm elections.

The Department of Justice on Monday defended President Trump’s decision to kick The Associated Press out of the “pool” that covers the White House, saying the wire news service no longer deserves the “unfettered access” it used to get.

In a court filing, the department said the AP is still allowed to be part of the general throng of journalists who report on the president’s doings. But Mr. Trump has personally decided the news service shouldn’t be guaranteed an exclusive space at every public presidential event — even when that access is denied to most reporters.

“Most journalists have no routine access to the Oval Office, Air Force One, or the President’s home at Mar-a-Lago. Presidents historically provided this special access to the Associated Press, but that discretionary choice does not create a constitutional right,” wrote Brian P. Hudak, chief of the Justice Department’s civil division.

Mr. Trump blocked the AP from its usual space in the White House press pool after the service refused to replace “Gulf of Mexico” with “Gulf of America” in its articles. The federal government has officially made the change, but the AP says it has an international audience it must cater to.
