McConnell Joins Call for Answers on Mar-a-Lago Raid

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has finally weighed in on the raid on Donald Trump's Florida home by FBI agents, joining the chorus of lawmakers and other prominent officials urging a full and immediate disclosure of information by the Justice Department.

On Tuesday evening, after hours of silence and with pressure building on the veteran lawmaker to speak to the raid, he offered this on Twitter: "The country deserves a thorough and immediate explanation of what led to the events of Monday. Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately."

The Kentucky Republican has frequently sparred with Trump since the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. His silence on the raid earlier in the day rankled some.
