North Korea reportedly sent materials to Syria to be used for a chemical weapons facility, according to experts from the UN. (Reuters)
North Korea recently delivered 50 tons of materials to Syria for use in building what appears to be a chemical weapons facility, according to a U.N. report, flouting sanctions and likely generating a windfall for the isolated rogue nation.
Pyongyang reportedly orchestrated several shipments to Syria in late 2016 and early 2017 that contained stainless-steel pipes, acid-resistent tiles, and valves.
The report heightened fears that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is both enriching North Korea and redoubling his efforts to produce chemical weapons.
The U.S. recently warned that it may again use military force if Syria continues using banned weapons.

It feels like age ago, but in the not-too-distant past, the book 'Fire and Fury' was the talk of the town in DC -- leading to the demise of Steve Bannon's relationship with the White House in which he once served, likely because his quotes seemed to be the only verified element of the gossip-packed volume. As Official Washington buzzed about its contents, Trump defenders, and even some liberals, warned that author Michael Wolff had a checkered reputation for due diligence and accuracy. As Wolffe promoted his book all over television, he was forced to admit that he didn't have every supposed 'fact' locked down. But that didn't stop him from gaining lots of notoriety or spreading a disgusting slander of Amb. Nikki Haley, whom Wolff baselessly suggested was having an affair with the president. It was that incident that damaged Wolff's credibility even further, and that led Haley to publish an exasperated tweet when the Grammy Awards heavily promoted 'Fire and Fury' during their awards show. The double standards were incandescently clear, as [trigger warning] New York Times columnist Bari Weiss noted in a piece we quoted at the time:

Hearing begins on President Trump's border wall
A negative ruling from a federal judge in California could hold up the wall's construction for years.
A federal judge on Tuesday ruled against an environmental challenge to President Trump’s border wall, delivering a win to the Trump administration in a decision that allows construction plans to move forward.
In a 101-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel wrote that both Congress and the executive branch “share responsibilities in protecting the country from terrorists and contraband illegally entering at the borders.”
The case involved the Trump administration’s ability to ignore environmental laws in the construction of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The project had been challenged by several environmental groups and the state of California.
The ruling will now allow the administration to issue waivers on environmental laws and build sections of the border wall.

President Donald Trump’s administration is considering placing an embargo on Venezuelan oil, which could be the final blow to an economy and nation that are on the verge of total collapse.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in early February that the administration might impose restrictions on Venezuelan oil imports in order to pressure socialist President Nicolás Maduro to return to a constitutional form of government.
Venezuela can’t afford to lose its trading ties to the U.S. The nation’s oil production is at a three-decade low, producing at roughly half the levels it was in the 1990s, according to a January report from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Revenues from oil exports account for 90 percent of the Venezuelan government’s hard currency, and the U.S. is the nation’s largest buyer.

Thus far, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has not alleged any criminal collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. But what if he does?
Well, if he follows past Justice Department legal guidance adopted by the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), the answer in regard to the president is pretty much: “Nothing.”
Long ago, back in the Nixon era, OLC concluded that indicting or criminally prosecuting a sitting president would violate the Constitution by undermining “the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions.”
The progressive left knows they don’t have the political power inside Congress to impeach President Trump. But they openly fantasize that Mueller will one day indict him on charges of criminal conspiracy. This, they think, would lead either to his conviction and removal from office, or so severely handicap his presidency that he would be forced to resign.
Unhappily for the left, Mueller, as a special counsel at Justice, is obligated to follow departmental policies.
In 1973, OLC issued an opinion on whether the president, vice president, and other civil officers of the federal government can be subjected to criminal prosecution while in office. It concluded that, while the vice president and other officers (such as cabinet officials) can be criminally prosecuted, the president cannot due to his “unique position under the Constitution.”

The bottom line is that no matter what evidence Mueller turns up, he can’t indict the president if he follows DOJ policy unless that policy is changed by the Deputy Attorney General or the Attorney General.

FOR years European countries had the most powerful passports in the world. But not anymore.
Recent diplomatic decisions around the world have prompted a reshuffle of the world’s most powerful passports on the Passport Index, which ranks countries according to the travel freedom enjoyed by citizens.
Germany has long dominated the world ranking, with German passport-holders previously enjoying the longest list of countries they would visit without a visa.
But Germany has now been upset by South Korea, which is now considered the most powerful passport in the world along with Singapore, according to the Passport Index.
Global financial advisory firm Arton Capital, which oversees the rankings, said South Korea and Singapore’s surge in the list was influenced by Uzbekistan’s recent decision to grant both countries visa-free access.

Police report explosion in English city as ‘major incident’

LONDON – British police declared a major incident on Sunday after an explosion destroyed a convenience store and a home in the central English city of Leicester.
Pictures and videos posted on Twitter showed flames leaping into the sky from the site which was reduced to rubble.
“All emergency services are currently dealing with this,” the police force said in a statement. “Please avoid the area.”

LONDON – British police declared a major incident on Sunday after an explosion destroyed a convenience store and a home in the central English city of Leicester.

Secret Service and police are investigating.
The Secret Service apprehended a driver Friday afternoon after she plowed her vehicle into a security barricade at a White House entrance.
Law enforcement sources told Fox News that the driver intentionally hit the barricade. But they did not describe it as an attack against the White House, saying the woman suffers from mental problems and this was not about President Trump.

“Well,” they insist, “Trump said the whole Russian thing was a hoax. Now it’s proven it wasn’t,” or some such nonsense.
President Trump, in fact, never argued that Russian meddling was a hoax, but the accusation that he and his team colluded with the Russians was the fraud, and now we know, it was.

When The Mainstream Media Gets Beaten To Their Russian Punchline

Here is what has happened so far in Special Counsel Mueller’s collusion probe and how government has spent our $20 million. As the FBI was ignoring specific and spot-on citizens’ tips that could have stopped the Florida school shooting, it continued to chase around political campaign volunteers for not filling out their paperwork just right.
In short, President Trump is now being chased down for obstructing the investigation of a crime that never occurred. Punishment for Trump could range from one to five years in prison to being forced to get an age-appropriate haircut.
The whole thing is as confusing as a Trump family Mother’s Day at Mar-a-Lago, so let me sum it up. Special Counsel Bob Mueller probe’s mandate was supposed to be the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia. VP Pence has distanced himself from it because he doesn’t believe in man-dates.
Since there was never any evidence of Trump colluding with Russia to begin with, Mueller’s year-long investigation is morphing into anything he can find. Leaks said that Donald Trump Jr. met alone with a Russian lawyer before the election. The media was giddy for a week until they found out that nothing happened and that eleven people were in that meeting room. Now they are looking into getting Donald Jr. for fire code violations.
This whole time the Russians are laughing at us, because all they wanted to do is “sow discord.” We really took the bait. Like bin Laden did to us with 9/11, we react by spending money and giving up freedoms to Homeland Security and the TSA; we spend trillions of dollars on wars of choice. We shouldn’t flinch.
Thirteen Russians with fake Facebook accounts? That’s it? The Russkis equally supported Trump and Bernie Sanders/Hillary. There was no clear favorite in this de minimus bot campaign. Only $3000 were spent in swing states, mostly after the election. Obama’s State Department spent $300k in Israel trying to defeat Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama hated Yahus.
All this is a stupid waste of money and an unnecessary national embarrassment. It will backfire on Democrats. They want the verdict now, the trial later.
Trump was sent to Washington to be indelicate. He harvested voters’ frustrations about Washington pettiness like this. His supporters like his firing of entrenched government dolts. He also goes against the PC nothingness diplomacy of his predecessors. We like that, too. He is the wrecking ball we sent there. Wrecking balls have balls and they wreck things. The media and the “deep state” did not elect Trump; we did. He was sent there to drain the swamp.
Democrats’ breathless barrage of baseless accusations paints Trump as a Russian James Bond-type villain, “Gold Hair.” They want all Republicans who have ordered a vodka-based drink in the last year to be investigated. Anyone who has ordered a Moscow Mule should be hauled before Bernie Sanders (who honeymooned in Russia) and asked to explain himself. It feels like the McCarthyism they purport to abhor.
Trump was right about Comey. Saying the government spied on Trump Tower evoked cackles from the media, but he was spot-on. Trump called Comey a “showboat” and a “nut job,” and that is proving to be correct as well. Comey is proving to be a drama queen, which may not be fair since it sounds like they are describing FBI great J. Edgar Hoover.
Like the Whitewater investigation of Bill Clinton, the only punch Mueller lands on Trump will probably be a “blue dress” indictment. Rob Porter, Trump’s Staff Secretary, had to resign over old spousal abuse allegations that the FBI should have uncovered in his background check. And The Donald faced anger from Melania as details surfaced over Trump’s purported affair with porn star Stormy Daniels. Taking down famous men by women who all-of-a-sudden remember everything has become a fashionable trend.
After the Stormy Daniels news broke, the press made a lot of gossip about Melania not attending the economic summit in Davos, Switzerland; a bold stand, since we all know how much Melania enjoys herself at economic summits in Europe.
In short, the Mueller investigation has produced information we already knew: The Russians like to monkey with other countries’ elections. The media now feigns outrage! They do not like that Russians use their position in the media to misinform, propagandize and only give the side of a story that fits their narrative. That’s the mainstream media’s role.

As the James Comey saga continues to unfold, the James Comey legend continues to unravel. The more we learn about his involvement in the deep state’s illicit targeting of President Trump, the more reason the American people have to question both his motives and his management as director of the FBI, the now-disgraced agency he headed before Trump fired him on May 9, 2017. Comey has left a trail of suspicious activities in his wake.
Comey now looms large over a burgeoning constitutional crisis that could soon overshadow Watergate at its worst. To deepen the crisis even further, it now appears some of Comey’s former FBI and Justice Department colleagues continue to protect him from accountability.
Three suspicious activities stand out, all intertwined: the so-called Comey Memos, Comey’s controversial testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee and Comey’s book deal.
After Comey was fired by President Trump on May 9, 2017, he arranged to give The New York Times a Feb. 14, 2017, memorandum he had written about a one-on-one conversation with Trump regarding former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The New York Times published a report about the memo on May 16, 2017. Special counsel Robert Mueller was appointed the following day.
On June 8, 2017, Comey testified under oath before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, where he stated he authored as many as nine such memos. Regarding the Flynn memo, Comey admitted: “I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter [for The New York Times]. I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”
Comey also testified about Trump’s firing of him, and he detailed multiple conversations with Trump, during which Comey confirmed he told Trump three times that he was not a target of investigation. Judicial Watch is pursuing numerous FOIA lawsuits relating to Comey’s memoranda and FBI exit records as well a lawsuit for Justice Department communications about Comey’s Senate testimony. The American people deserve to know what, if any, complicity his former colleagues had in drafting that testimony and/or in engineering the appointment of Mueller.
The day before Comey’s testimony, Fox News reported: “A source close to James Comey tells Fox News the former FBI director’s Senate testimony has been ‘closely coordinated’ with Robert Mueller.” Comey may have violated the law in leaking his official FBI memos to the media, and it would be a scandal if Comey coordinated his Senate testimony with Mueller’s special counsel office.
That we have had to sue in federal court to discover the truth speaks volumes. The FBI has built a protective stonewall around Comey by refusing to release the Comey memos and refusing to disclose records of communications between the FBI and Comey prior to and regarding Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Since his forced departure from the FBI, Comey signed a book deal in August, set for publication in April, for which he reportedly received an advance in excess of $2 million. Given the fact that the FBI appears to be letting Comey get away with stealing and leaking official government documents and colluding with the special counsel to get Trump, even a trusting person must be suspicious about his book deal.
The FBI has fanned those suspicions by, you guessed it, adding a new layer to the protective stonewall around Comey. Again, Judicial Watch has been forced to sue a recalcitrant FBI for records, including but not limited to forms Comey was required to complete relating to prepublication review of the book by the FBI. Did Comey’s cronies give the fired FBI director a pass on this long-standing requirement? Is that why they are stonewalling the Judicial Watch FOIA?
Based upon Comey’s performance to date, this book likely will be an elaborate exercise in self-apotheosis. That’s why the American public deserves to know if Comey’s former colleagues — many of whom we now know aided in his exoneration of Hillary Clinton and have participated in the contrived investigation of Donald Trump — scrutinized his literary claims or simply green-lighted his every word.
There is no doubt that the deep state is in deep cover-up mode. The FBI, Justice Department and the special counsel all are stonewalling our requests for Comey documents. The more they stonewall, the deeper the suspicions grow about Comey’s complicity in the entire attempt to use the bogus Trump dossier to prevent the election of Donald Trump, and then use it to undermine his presidency once he was elected to office. In my experience in Washington, when people refuse to come clean, it is usually because they are hiding dirty laundry.

Hannity: Trump fires back at biased media, Democrats
The media missed all the key facts and findings of Mueller's indictment of 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies.
President Obama was warned that Russia would try to interfere in America's elections. So, what did he do?
Nothing, except to tell us – and a rightly concerned candidate named Donald Trump – that all that such concerns were silly.
“There is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even you could even rig America's elections there's no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there are instances in which that will happen this time,” Obama said at the height of the 2016 election. “And so, I invite Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”
Fast forward to November of 2016, after Trump won, and all the Democrats can talk about is how the Russians rigged the election. How else could Trump have possibly won? And last week’s indictment by Special Counsel Robert Mueller of 13 Russian Internet trolls is their latest evidence that, yes, an election CAN be fixed.

President Obama was warned that Russia would try to interfere in America's elections. So, what did he do?
Nothing, except to tell us – and a rightly concerned candidate named Donald Trump – that all that such concerns were silly.
“There is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even you could even rig America's elections there's no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there are instances in which that will happen this time,” Obama said at the height of the 2016 election. “And so, I invite Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”
Fast forward to November of 2016, after Trump won, and all the Democrats can talk about is how the Russians rigged the election. How else could Trump have possibly won? And last week’s indictment by Special Counsel Robert Mueller of 13 Russian Internet trolls is their latest evidence that, yes, an election CAN be fixed.

Late Thursday, the Securities and Exchange Commission issued a notice announcing it did not approve the proposed acquisition of the 136-year-old Chicago Stock Exchange by a Chinese-led consortium.
The Chicago exchange, better known as CHX, is not happy, saying in a statement the SEC “unfairly” disadvantaged “our company and shareholders.”
The stakes for the rest of America are high. As Rep. Robert Pittenger, R-N.C., pointed out before the SEC turned down the deal, a successful takeover would be “the first time a Chinese-owned, possibly state-influenced, firm maintained direct access into the $22 trillion U.S. equity marketplace.”
At the moment at least, Chinese plans are on hold. And that, for many reasons, is a good development.
In December 2016, CHX filed a proposed rule change, pursuant to the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, that would allow a group, led by Chongqing Casin Enterprise Group, to acquire the exchange.
Chinese ownership could permit Beijing to “breach personal and business data.”

“Why on earth would we think that allowing them to control a U.S. exchange is in our interest?” Wessel asks.
Casin’s bid to buy CHX is unlikely to be the last Chinese attempt to control an American exchange. The next offer from that country will require Washington to answer, head on, Wessel’s critical question.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said he believes the person who opened fire last week at a Florida high school should be executed.
During an interview with CBS Miami, Rubio was asked whether he believes Nikolas Cruz, who has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder, should get the death penalty.
"The answer is yes," Rubio said.
But he added it's a tough question to answer because he has larger concerns about the death penalty.

After Florida school massacre, what about regulating social media companies to keep us safe?

Following the Wednesday shooting at a Florida high school that took 17 lives, gun control activists and Second Amendment advocates are predictably arguing about the causes of such horrible violence and what to do next. We should not overlook the big role that social media companies play.
Nikolas Cruz – the 19-year-old who has confessed to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida – posted disturbing material on social media before his attack, authorities said. His posts reportedly included discussing his desire to kill someone, along with hateful messages threatening violence against African-Americans, Jews and gay people, according to media reports.
Cruz’s activity on social media is not an isolated case. The lack of accountability on social media platforms for the content they carry and make available to millions of people around the world has contributed to terrorism, mass murders, child sex trafficking, targeted attacks on police officers, manipulation of elections and online violent exhibitionism.
Facebook, Google and Twitter argue that they should have no responsibility for the content posted on their platforms – in the same way telephone companies have been ruled not responsible for what people say on calls. If, for example, one person calls another and makes a death threat, the phone company is not held responsible.
But social media companies are different – text, photos and videos on their sites can be viewed by millions of people around the world – unlike a phone call that involves just two people or a small group.
Because social media have played a significant role in recent attacks that threaten our homeland security interests, it is now time for Congress to act and regulate social media companies.
Consequently, social media companies should not be above the law and should be subject to reasonable federal regulation, in the same way radio and TV stations are regulated.

Sean Hannity said the deputy attorney general's announcement concerning Russian interference in the 2016 election elicited a "collective gasp from liberals" because no Americans were implicated as willing participants.
Hannity said statements from Rod Rosenstein, the number two at the Justice Department, proved that Russia's goal was "to sow political discord" rather than to support one candidate or another.
He said Russian actors also tried to "undermine" Trump after his election.
Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President. The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong - no collusion!

Hannity also pointed to the fact the federal indictment explained that those implicated sponsored opposing rallies on the same day in November 2016.
An anti-Trump rally and a pro-Trump affair were both held in New York City shortly after the election.
He said another anti-Trump rally alleged to have been connected to the defendants was held later that month in Mecklenburg County, N.C.
