China was identified this week as posing the most significant long-term military challenge to the United States by America’s senior-most military leader, as he set out new US military strategies and policies toward China and Asia more generally in a congressional hearing.
Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, also revealed in the hearing, before senate, that he had informed China last summer of US plans to use military force against North Korea.
Dunford was asked to rank various military threats and identified nuclear missile-armed North Korea as presenting an "immediate" threat, with Russia and China posing potential dangers based on their growing nuclear arsenals.

Antifa in Berkeley has been stalking University of California – Berkeley College Republicans, listing them by name and alerting others to their physical whereabouts in real time.
On Wednesday, the Berkeley Antifa account on Twitter posted the private meeting place of several Berkeley College Republicans, whom they claimed had been “drinking with Kyle Chapman and Joey Gibson.”
Kyle Chapman, also known as “Based Stick Man,” is the Trump supporter who engaged in physical skirmishes against Antifa. He became Internet famous for hitting an Antifa supporter in the head in March. Joey Gibson is the founder of Patriot Prayer, a pro-Trump grassroots organization active in California and the Pacific Northwest.

Faced with the rapid progress of North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs – along with escalating provocations – President Trump’s foreign policy team has engaged in an intensive effort to put “maximum pressure” on the regime and its enablers. A powerful next move would be to call attention to North Korea’s many human rights violations.
The Trump administration has already: stepped up military exercises and coordination with South Korea and Japan; accelerated missile defense deployment and sent more firepower to the Korean peninsula; worked with Congress on stronger sanctions and fought for the toughest U.N. Security Council resolutions on North Korea to date; blacklisted Chinese firms and a Chinese bank that are conduits for the North Korean government; and enacted Treasury Department penalties on all individuals and institutions that deal with North Korea.
President Trump, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley have pursued bilateral meetings with their Asian counterparts to emphasize defense commitments with democratic allies, urge China to stop subsidizing North Korea, and convince all countries to freeze North Korean money and cease trade and technology transfers.

Why should anyone be forced to act in a way that is against their moral code? The poor boys’ millionaire club could not all agree on whether or not to disrespect America so you hid. We Americans understand. Trust me.
Let the kneelers kneel, the sitters sit, the Patriots stand, own your beliefs. Own your side. Everyone with a working knowledge of contract law knows that the players disrespecting America could have been fined in accordance with their contract.
Remember Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf? He was fined $30,000 after disrespecting the flag and choosing to sit on his butt during the anthem. Once he was fined he worked out a compromise and stood, he recited Islamic prayers under his breath but he did not disgrace his team by disrespecting the American flag, the anthem, America herself.

The administrative branch of the NFL is tax exempt. I hope that exemption is revoked. The entire league is subsidized with billions of taxpayers dollars, for what, so you can spit in the faces of the people who support you? No more.
You have backed the wrong horse. Sometimes not choosing a side is choosing through omission.
You’ve taken something that unites Americans of every color, creed, and religion and managed to divide them through your cowardliness and fear of offending the “wrong ” people. Fine them or fire them this is behavior that is covered in their contracts “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League.”
Honoring 9/11 is detrimental, wearing pink in your hair to honor breast cancer survivors and casualties is detrimental, twerking is detrimental but dishonoring the American flag is not detrimental to the integrity of the NFL. Hypocrites. You lousy lowlife mamby-pamby, money-grubbing, cowardly, politically correct, assholes can all go to hell.
Your decision to hide in the tunnel is disgusting and cowardly. Your decision to criticize Alejandro Villanueva a war veteran, a man who fought for your freedom, a man who saved lives, a man who was willing to lay his life down for you, a bronze heart recipient is beyond words.
Mike Tomlin, James Harrison, Ben Roethlisberger and any Steeler who has the audacity to criticize or question Alejandro Villanueva standing for the National Anthem, choosing country over his team, you are what is wrong with America. As a team, you boys get a ball from one of a field to another side of the field and celebrate. As a man, Villanueva rescued wounded soldiers while under enemy fire and you cowardly clowns are hiding in a tunnel because you couldn’t decide whether or not to stand or sit for the American flag have the misguided intrepidity to criticize Villanueva’s dedication to America?
I hope my fellow Americans pray with me for a holy curse on your team, that you not win a single game for the rest of the season. I hope that you lose your tax exempt status, I hope you rethink your disgusting words and actions.

A protracted war between the United States and North Korea is “now a real possibility,” a respected British think tank concluded this week.
“Casualties in such a conflict would likely reach the hundreds of thousands, even if no nuclear weapons were used,” according to a report by the Royal United Services Institute.
“There could be far-reaching consequences for the global economy, involving sustained disruption of vital supply chains and markets,” the report said.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said his company is not biased against President Donald Trump, disputing claims made by the president that the social media company is against him.
"Trump says Facebook is against him. Liberals say we helped Trump. Both sides are upset about ideas and content they don't like. That's what running a platform for all ideas looks like," Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post.
However, Facebook executives were in close contact with Hillary Clinton's failed presidential campaign. Zuckerberg himself met with John Podesta, Clinton's former campaign chairman, and the company has even teamed up with longtime Clinton ally David Brock to combat "fake news," according to confidential documents obtained earlier this year by the Washington Free Beacon.
In a document attached to an email released by WikiLeaks and discovered by the Free Beacon last year, Teddy Goff, the digital strategist for the Clinton campaign, wrote of having "discreet conversations" about forming "working relationships" with companies such as Facebook and Apple as early as October 2014.

A new poll shows that the favorability rating of the NFL among Donald Trump supporters was nearly cut in half after more than 200 players kneeled during the national anthem last week.
Morning Consult conducted the survey, and the results are a very bad sign for the NFL.
They released the following data in a press release to The Daily Caller:
NFL’s Brand Favorability Drops To Lowest Point Since Morning Consult Started Tracking: The NFL’s net favorability has dropped from 30% on September 21 to 17% on September 28.
On September 21, 25% of Trump supporters said they had a very favorable view of the NFL and 11% had a very unfavorable view.
As of Sept 28, those numbers have dramatically changed with 33% of Trump supporters say they have a very unfavorable view of the NFL and 16% report having a very favorable view.

Rubio: US should kick out Cuban diplomats

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Friday called for Cuban diplomats in the U.S. to be expelled after the Trump administration ordered over half of its diplomatic staff to leave Havana in the wake of mysterious health attacks.
"In light of these harmful attacks against American diplomatic personnel in Cuba, it is weak, unacceptable and outrageous for the U.S. State Department to allow Raul Castro to keep as many of his operatives in the U.S. as he wants," Rubio, who is the son of Cuban immigrants, said in a statement.
"The State Department must conduct its own investigation independent of the Castro regime and submit a comprehensive report to Congress. Until those responsible for these attacks are brought to justice, the U.S. should immediately expel an equal number of Cuban operatives, downgrade the U.S. embassy in Havana to an interests section, and consider re-listing Cuba as a state sponsor of terror," he continued.
The senator also issued a series of tweets blasting the island nation's government and the attack.

Record $135 billion a year for illegal immigration, average $8,075 each, $25,000 in NY

The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the the most authoritative report on the issue yet.
And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion.
State and local governments are getting ravaged by the costs, at over $88 billion. The federal government, by comparison, is getting off easy at $45 billion in costs for illegals.
President Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and conservatives in Congress are moving aggressively to deal with illegals, especially those with long criminal records. But their effort is being fought by courts and some 300 so-called "sanctuary communities" that refuse to work with federal law enforcement.
The added burden on taxpayers and the unfairness to those who have applied to come into the United States through legal channels is also driving the administration's immigration crackdown.
The report, titled "The Fiscal Burden Of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers," is the most comprehensive cost tally from FAIR. It said that the costs have jumped about $3 billion in four years and will continue to surge unless illegal immigration is stopped. It was provided in advance exclusively to Secrets.

Every player on both sides of the field stood during the national anthem ahead of Thursday night’s NFL game.
Players, coaches and staff on the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears were all linked arm-in-arm, and some with hands on their hearts, as American country singer Tyler Farr sang.
Cameras panning around Lambeau Field in Wisconsin showed fans locking arms with one another as well. Some could be seen waving American flags while others were saluting the large one being stretched out over the field.

After a week during which NFL fans experienced their teams behave in a whole host of ways during the national anthem, the Denver Broncos announced on their website Thursday that they will stand as a team for the playing of the "Star-Spangled Banner" on Sunday.
Before their last game against the Buffalo Bills, a number of Broncos players knelt during the playing of the national anthem, part of a large-scale protest after President Donald Trump said kneeling players should be fired.
The Broncos acknowledged those who knelt in the announcement that the team would stand together this weekend.

Retired Army General and former CIA Director David Petraeus said Thursday that the Trump administration’s new travel ban has “reasonable logic” behind it.
The Trump administration unveiled travel restrictions Sunday on eight countries (North Korea, Syria, Chad, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Iran, and Venezuela), with the conditions varying for each country. Administration officials said that the restrictions will remain in place until these nations improve cooperation with American vetting and security standards.

Former first lady Michelle Obama leveled harsh criticism Wednesday at women who voted for President Trump, suggesting they voted against their own interests.
“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” Obama told the audience during a talk at a marketing conference in Boston, according to Boston.com.
She went on to suggest female voters for Trump were just going with the pack.

Pentagon urges Congress to move $416M for missile defense

The Pentagon wants Congress to move $416 million from several other defense accounts to pay for “missile defeat enhancements” in the face of an increasingly aggressive North Korea, according to multiple reports.
In a reprogramming request signed by Pentagon Comptroller David Norquist on Sept. 7, the Defense Department asks lawmakers to move the majority of the money, about $330 million, from unused fiscal 2017 Army operations and maintenance funds, InsideDefense.com reported.
The Pentagon official argued that the Army operations and maintenance dollars couldn’t be used because the 2017 budget arrived later than usual.

THE ocean would be devastated and low-orbiting satellites would cease to function.
Planes would literally fall out of the sky as technology stopped working and huge waves carrying radiation rushed ashore.
Marine life in the immediate area would be killed and thousands of other animals and humans would remain at risk for long periods of time.
Radiation would disperse, flowing into an unknown number of waterways.
They are among just some of the terrifying prospects the world faces if North Korea followed through with its threat to carry out a hydrogen bomb test in the Pacific.
North Korea’s Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho told reporters in New York his country may consider doing just that in retaliation to tough UN sanctions.

Ri said the potential test of “the most powerful detonation of an H-bomb” would be one possible “highest-level” action against the US.
“It could be the most powerful detonation of a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific,” Ri told Yonhap. “We have no idea about what actions could be taken, as it will be ordered by leader Kim Jong-un.”
While the thought of North Korea conducting such a test is frightening, analysts offered differing views of the fallout from such an event.
Most agree the result would not be pretty. Oliver Buhler, a professor of applied mathematics at New York University, told Motherboard there would be waves, and big ones at that.
“An underwater explosion or an above ground explosion would clearly create a bunch of waves, strong waves,” he said.
There would also be a shockwave which would radiate outwards and carry “upwards of 140 kilotons of energy”.

American Sniper Widow To NFL: ‘You’ve Lost Me’

Taya Kyle, the widow of American Sniper Chris Kyle, wrote an open letter to the NFL to tell them they’ve lost her support over athletes kneeling for the national anthem.
Kyle argues that Americans have been football fans for so long because the NFL was about “celebrating each other based on skills, talent and a joint vision without regard to color and religion,” but now the NFL is choosing to “focus on division and anger.”
“Your desire to focus on division and anger has shattered what many people loved most about the sport,” Kyle says. “Football was really a metaphor for our ideal world — different backgrounds, talents, political beliefs and histories as one big team with one big goal — to do well, to win, TOGETHER.”
“Simplicity in a crazy world was pretty awesome,” she continues. “You dear NFL, have taken that. You have lost me here.”
Kyle ends the letter by encouraging NFL players to do their political and community activism outside of their paying job–in the off season. On her own time, she runs the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, which works to strengthen the relationships of military and first-responder families.
“If I can do it while I raise two kids as their only parent and work through the greatest pain of my life, let’s see if they can do it for the issues they say they care so much about,” she concludes.

The Washington Post has made a correction to an explosive cover story that undermines the entire premise of Monday’s front-page article headlined, "Obama sought to prod Facebook on Russia role."
The problem, according to a Facebook executive, is that when Obama reached out to the social media giant in 2016 to discuss political disinformation spreading on the site, he didn’t actually call out Russia – essentially making the Post’s headline misleading and inaccurate. Or, as President Trump would call it, “fake news.”
As first reported by Axios, the Post added significant information to the digital version of the story with the disclaimer, “This story has been updated with an additional response from Facebook.” The response from Facebook that didn’t make the paper’s print edition is vital and changed the story enough that the word “Russia” was removed from the updated headline.
The story detailed how then-President Obama gave Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg a “wake-up call” regarding fake news spreading on his social media platform. After reporting that Obama “made a personal appeal to Zuckerberg to take the threat of fake news and political disinformation seriously," the paper has added that Obama “did not single out Russia specifically."
The story reported that Obama and his top aides “quietly agonized on how to respond to Russia’s brazen intervention on behalf of the Donald Trump campaign without making matters worse.”
The paper also added a statement from Facebook’s vice president of communications, Elliot Schrage, which it received after the front-page story was published. Schrage told the Post that Obama’s talk with Zuckerberg was about “misinformation and false news” and “did not include any references to possible foreign interference or suggestions about confronting threats to Facebook.”
The initial correction was unclear and only mentioned that it added Schrage’s statement, but this was eventually corrected by the paper’s editorial staff.
“When we updated the story with Facebook’s additional response, we also added the text ‘did not single out Russia specifically’ to foreshadow the Schrage statement, which appears further down in the story. When we added that clause we should have made the attribution clear and we’ve modified the line to do so. Here’s how it now appears: ‘although Facebook representatives say the president did not single out Russia specifically,’” a Washington Post spokeswoman told Fox News.
The story goes on to detail “a 16-month journey in which [Facebook] came to terms with an unanticipated foreign attack on the U.S. political system,” that is based on interviews with “more than a dozen people” involved.
The Washington Post did not immediately respond when asked if a correction will be made in the print version of the paper.

Pop stars, NFL players, and even some NFL owners are supporting protests during the national anthem after President Trump called kneeling NFL players "sons of bitches."
But not everyone is opposing Trump.
Four-term Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., known for his role on the MTV series Real World: Boston in 1997, told the Washington Examiner, "I love American football, but I love America more."
"If the NFL is going to make us pick between the NFL and a love of country, those of us who love football are going to pick our country over that game," Duffy said.
"To think that we have men who take to the field and take a knee when we play the national anthem I think is disappointing. Frankly, I think it's disgusting," he said.
"When you kneel in front of the flag, it's disrespect to the men and women who served — those who have made the ultimate sacrifice," Duffy continued. "You could have an issue with America, but you don't kneel in front of the flag that represents so many great things."
Many Republicans and Trump supporters are protesting the NFL due to these protests. When asked if Americans will keep watching, Duffy said, "I think more Americans are going to take a break from football and watch something else."

House Republicans on Tuesday formally renewed their call for a second special counsel to probe 2016 controversies involving Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration – following allegations that former FBI director James Comey drafted an “exoneration statement” for Clinton weeks before interviewing her.
Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee, who first called for a second special counsel's appointment in July, cited several factors in a letter Tuesday to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein.
“In this case, it appears that Director Comey and other senior Justice Department and government officials may have pre-judged the ‘matter’ before all the facts were known, thereby ensuring former Secretary Clinton would not be charged for her criminal activity,” they wrote.

IN THE past few weeks, a new star has emerged to add a touch of glamour to the No campaign’s battle to prevent the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
Karina Okotel is a 37-year-old Australian lawyer who has volunteered for charities in Thailand and Africa and made a documentary about refugees and child soldiers. She lives with her Ugandan husband and three children in Melbourne and her parents were Sri Lankan immigrants. She’s not a person you’d immediately expect to be fronting a campaign to stop gay and lesbian Australians from having the right to marry.
But Ms Okotel is not only those things. She has been a member of the Liberal party since 2010 and vice president since June. She is a devout Christian, meeting husband David while working on farms for Baptist World Aid. She is in fact more conservative than many in her party, with Malcolm Turnbull, Liberal president Nick Greiner and her local Liberal MP Tim Wilson all in favour of same-sex marriage.

Ms Okotel decided to come out of maternity leave — her youngest daughter is just 10 weeks old — to throw her weight behind the Coalition for Marriage. And her star has been rising ever since.
