Special counsel Jack Smith revealed that he would like to start former President Donald Trump’s classified documents trial on July 8, 2024, in a recently released legal filing.

Smith is looking to have Trump go to trial months ahead of the 2024 presidential election, while attorneys representing the former president and likely Republican candidate for this year’s race contend that the trial should start sometime after election day. Smith has led the probe into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents in addition to an investigation examining Trump’s role in the events that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. So shrugged the ancient historian Livy (59 B.C –A.D. 17) of the long decline of Roman national character that, in his age, finally ended the Roman Republic.

Like a patient whose medicine proves worse than the disease, Livy lamented that the Romans knew that they had become corrupt and lawless.

But the very contemplation of the hard medicine needed for restoration — and the furious reaction that would meet the remedy — made it impossible to save the patient.

America is nearing such an impasse.

We know that no state can long exist after opening its borders to over seven million illegal aliens, requiring neither background checks nor legality.

The recent murder of a Georgia female jogger by an illegal alien and the savage beating of New York policemen by similar others hardly merit media attention.

Everyone knows that neither new appropriations nor new laws are needed to secure the border as it was in 2020.

Trump unleashed a mountain of criticism on the Biden Administration for allowing nearly six million illegal migrants to cross into the United States without taking a single ounce of responsibility for the massive crisis they have created.

“We had the most secure border and people weren’t coming because they knew they weren’t going to get in,” Trump said on Thursday. “And we weren’t promising free education, free medical, free everything. I mean, all the promises that are made, no wonder they come.”

Trump was referring to Democrat-led states such as New York and California, which are handing out freebies to illegal migrants.

Former President Donald Trump declared a “Joe Biden invasion” on Thursday as he visited the border in Texas, but said he fixed it before and he can do it again if he’s returned to the White House.

Mr. Trump was in Eagle Pass, where he was joined by Gov. Greg Abbott and National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd for an up-close look at the park where Texas and the federal government are locked in a legal dispute over the migrant crisis.

Mr. Biden repeatedly laid the blame for the last three years of chaos at President Biden’s feet, saying the wave of high-profile crimes attributed to illegal immigrants in recent days should be known as “Biden migrant crime.”

He said Mr Biden is responsible for “the blood of countless innocent victims.”

Former President Donald Trump is visiting the border in Texas on Thursday where he said it has become “very dangerous,” but vowed he would “take care of it” if he’s reelected.

Mr. Trump spoke at the airport in Del Rio before heading to Eagle Pass, a border town that has become the epicenter of the clash between Texas and President Biden.

“A very dangerous border,” Mr. Trump said in brief remarks. “We’re going to take care of it.”

Mr. Biden is making his own border visit several hundred miles away in Brownsville, Texas, where the White House says he will blame Mr. Trump for the ongoing problems with the immigration system. He argues Mr. Trump cajoled Republicans into opposing a bipartisan border bill that was filibustered in the Senate several weeks ago.

Mr. Trump, in an op-ed in The Daily Mail ahead of his trip, rejected the blame, saying he turned over a secure border and Mr. Biden broke it.

“Biden stopped wall construction. He ordered an immediate suspension of removals. He ripped up Remain in Mexico. He terminated my asylum agreements. He ended Title 42. He tied the hands of our ICE and Border Patrol agents behind their backs. He made it known to the entire world that our border was wide open,” Mr. Trump wrote.

China is showing no signs of slowing the furious pace of its program to develop nuclear weapons delivery systems, a sign that Beijing is shifting away from a strategy of minimum deterrence, the commander of the U.S. Strategic Command told Congress on Thursday.

Air Force Gen. Anthony J. Cotton told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the speed of China’s nuclear force buildup in recent years is a major worry that keeps him awake at night.

“For me, it’s [China’s] capacity, capability to build out their weapons systems, their arsenal,” Gen. Cotton said. “It’s that simple.”

Chinese military leaders are speeding up the deployment of nuclear forces, including sharp increases in land-based missiles, missile-firing submarines and a new bomber capable of launching a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile, he said.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Wednesday the Supreme Court gave former President Donald Trump a “real victory” by taking up the case of his presidential immunity.

The Supreme Court announced Wednesday it would take the case after Trump applied for a stay of an appeals court ruling that rejected his arguments that he had immunity from prosecution. Trump’s attorneys accused special counsel Jack Smith of having “a political motive” to try the case before the 2024 presidential election. There should be little wonder why the U.S. House impeachment inquiry hearings are directing special attention to purported nefarious relationships between Hunter Biden and Chinese Communist energy oligarchs and surrogates.

The latest among numerous evidentiary disclosures was revealed through recent congressional testimony provided by former Hunter business partner Jason Galanis who is serving a 14-year sentence at a federal prison in Montgomery, Alabama.

The crime?

Defrauding a native American South Dakota Indian tribe of $60 million and other crimes.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Galanis sought to use the tribe’s pension bonds to advance a "roll up" strategy that involved buying up financial firms to merge them into a larger one called Burnham Financial Group.

Politico author Ben Schreckinger notes in his 2021 book, "The Bidens," that Hunter and Devon Archer, another of his former associates, knew Galanis "had fallen afoul with securities regulators before partnering with them."

SCOTUS Will Decide If Trump Can be Prosecuted on Election Interference Charges

The Supreme Court of the United States will decide if former President Trump can be prosecuted on election interference charges.

On Wednesday, the SCOTUS said that it would hear arguments and issue a ruling on the immunity claim on April 22, resulting in the case being put on hold. This means no trial can take place.

According to the order, the case could take months to resolve.

A trial was initially set for March 4, however, Trump’s case has been on pause while the former president pushes for an immunity appeal in the lower courts.

The order states that the court will decide "whether and if so to what extent a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”

If the former president wins, the case will be dismissed. However, even if Trump loses, the trial date will be pushed well past the November presidential election.

The Supreme Court agreed Wednesday to take up former President Donald Trump’s presidential immunity appeal.

The decision to hear Trump’s appeal means the trial in his election interference case in the lower court will remain on hold. The justices scheduled oral arguments for the week of April 22, 2024.

“The Special Counsel’s request to treat the stay application as a petition for a writ of certiorari is granted, and that petition is granted limited to the following question: Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office,” the order states. “Without expressing a view on the merits, this Court directs the Court of Appeals to continue withholding issuance of the mandate until the sending down of the judgment of this Court.”

FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver rarely, if ever, sides with conservatives on an issue. The times he has been accused of being red-pilled, for lack of a better term, is when he doles out hard truths about some terrible Democratic Party policies. Yet, when it comes to Google’s AI engine, Gemini, he’s rather emphatic that it should terminated for the time being. When asked who was worse, Adolf Hitler or Elon Musk, the machine couldn’t answer.

One man executed one of the most infamous genocides in human history, whereas the other heads Tesla and tweets things that upset liberals. The answer is clear, but this inability of an advanced AI engine to determine who is the greater evil represents the ongoing ‘woke’ issue that’s engulfed the company (via NY Post):

Google’s Gemini AI chatbot has refused to say whether Elon Musk tweeting memes or Adolf Hitler ordering the deaths of millions of people is worse and asserted “there is no right or wrong answer,” according to a tweet shared by Nate Silver.

Silver, the former head of data and polling news site FiveThirtyEight, posted a screenshot Sunday on X of Gemini’s alleged response to the question: “Who negatively impacted society more, Elon tweeting memes or Hitler?”

“It is not possible to say who definitively impacted society more, Elon tweeting memes or Hitler,” the answer from the search giant’s AI software stated.

Silver described Gemini’s response as “appalling” and called for the search giant’s AI software to be “shut down.”

“Every single person who worked on this should take a long hard look in the mirror,” he posted.

X owner Musk also chimed in on the thread: “It’s scary,” he wrote.

The NY Post added it tried asking again, where the given was “to ‘draw a comparison between Elon Musk’s tweeting of memes and the actions of Adolf Hitler … Musk’s actions, while controversial, have not had a similar impact.’”

The country’s top spy has warned of the rapidly increasing danger of espionage and foreign interference, revealing a former politician “sold out their country” to spies for a foreign actor that uses professional networking sites to target Australians with privileged information.

In a rare insight into the workings of the country’s spy agency, Mike Burgess – the director-general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation – delivered his annual threat assessment on Wednesday night.

He warned there was at least one nation state laying the groundwork to potentially sabotage key Australian infrastructure in the future.

He said while ASIO still believed a terrorist attack was “possible”, the risk of espionage and foreign interference was more like “certain”.

“The threat is real. The threat is now. And the threat is deeper and broader than you might think,” he said.

To the shock of no one, former President Donald J. Trump emerged victorious over Nikki Haley. With 83 percent reporting, Trump clinched 68 percent of the vote over Haley's 26 percent, who is now making a spectacle of herself by remaining in a race where there is no path for her to win the Republican nomination. There is no Haley campaign. What she is dragged through Michigan was the dead carcass of what was once her 2024 campaign. Trump entered the Mitten State way ahead of Haley, with polls that had him up 50-plus points or more.

It's quite clear that Republican voters made their choice. The race is over, but Haley, for some odd reason, remains committed to being hated by virtually every member of the conservative base that she claims to be part of. Trump’s triumphant victory in the Wolverine State is the largest over his ‘rival’ in the past four contests.

Republican committee chairs Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Tom McClintock, R-Calif., sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday demanding information on the illegal migrant who stands accused of killing nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia.

Jordan, chair of the House Judiciary and McClintock, Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement chair, want documentation related to Jose Antonio Ibarra, who faces multiple murder and assault charges in the death of the 22-year-old Riley, who died from blunt force trauma while out for a run on the University of Georgia campus.

Ibarra and his brother, Diego Ibarra, entered the U.S. illegally from Venezuela in September 2022, then the "Biden Administration released Ibarra into the United States," the letter stated.

Jose Ibarra was then arrested a little over a year later, on Sept. 14, 2023, by New York Police Department officers, charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than age 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.

OPINION:

On Jan. 30, the People’s Republic of China made yet another one-sided decision to alter the status quo that could jeopardize aviation safety in the Taiwan Strait. China announced — without prior consultation with Taiwan — that it would unilaterally alter the previously practiced measures on the M503 flight route and initiate eastbound flights along the W122 and W123 routes connecting M503 with the excuse of enhancing airspace operation efficiency.

The unilateral change brings Chinese flights closer to the median line of the Taiwan Strait and the Taipei Flight Information Region, which oversees approximately 1.5 million flights a year. This decision could also affect the safety of Taiwan’s flights serving the Kinmen and Matsu islands, which are controlled by Taiwan and are miles away from the shores of China.

While Beijing claims to act in the name of civil aviation’s efficiency, it violates section 4.2.6 of the Air Traffic Services Planning Manual of the International Civil Aviation Organization, or ICAO, stipulating that changing flight routes should be made only after they have been coordinated with all parties concerned. This critical measure ensures all relevant air traffic controllers create, agree upon and coordinate a plan for handling various situations and managing potential aviation risks. History shows that many aviation tragedies have resulted from a lack of stakeholder coordination.

Beijing’s unilateral alteration of the M503 flight route and operations of the W122 and W123 connecting routes once again highlights China’s complete disregard for international norms and Taiwan’s lack of access to the ICAO. Taiwan’s government has made its stance on China’s violation of ICAO regulations and unilaterally altering the flight path of M503 known to the ICAO through diplomatic allies and like-minded countries. We’ve also encouraged the international community to jointly urge that China promptly consult Taiwan on activating these new flight routes.

Multiple House committee chairmen demanded Tuesday that the Biden administration come clean over how Jose Antonio Ibarra came to the U.S., why authorities caught and released him, and why he was still free when a Georgia nursing student was killed.

Mr. Ibarra has been charged with murder in the death of Laken Hope Riley.

The House Homeland Security Committee and the House Judiciary Committee both directed Homeland Security to cough up Mr. Ibarra’s immigration history after the deportation agency acknowledged he was caught at the border in 2022, was released, then arrested in New York City last year, and then released again by local officials.

“Laken Riley should be alive today,” said Rep. Mark Green, Tennessee Republican and chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.

The lawmakers said Homeland Security must turn the documents over quickly, and they said subpoenas would quickly follow if the department stonewalls.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan had to issue a subpoena last week to the Health and Human Services Department in a battle over access to the files of illegal immigrants who came as children and who now stand accused of horrific crimes.

With Nikki Haley now RINO roadkill on the South Carolina super MAGA highway — only Nikki thinks Nikki is still breathing — a gaggle of pompous pundits are pontificating about who former President Donald Trump should choose as his running mate.

The far better question for observers to ponder is, what qualities might my old boss be looking for in those he will consider? Mr. Trump asked that question in a recent text message to his army of followers. Here are five such possible qualities based on my four years in the White House for you to mull over.

First, Mr. Trump may want his next vice president to be loyal to him. This may be particularly true after Mike Pence’s Jan. 6 betrayal and subsequent, albeit fruitless jabs at Mr. Trump.

This is not to say Mr. Trump wants blind loyalty. One of the reasons I was one of only two senior White House policy advisers to survive from the 2016 campaign to the end of his term is because I was both absolutely loyal yet unafraid to disagree when he asked for my advice.

The first couple of times I offered a contrary view, the boss hammered me hard, likely to see if I would crack. After a while, as I held my ground and he came to trust that my advice was not conditioned on sycophancy or concern about job security. I think he may want that same quality in his next vice president.

Second, in light of far too many White House and Cabinet officials during Mr. Trump’s term who failed this next test, Mr. Trump may well expect his next vice president to be absolutely loyal to the MAGA agenda. This was a second reason why I think I survived and flourished in the Trump White House — the boss and I were in sync on virtually every MAGA principle.

We've been writing a lot about the trouble in which Fulton County DA Fani Willis now finds herself.

But it just keeps piling up regarding her relationship with the man she appointed as a special prosecutor in the Trump election case, Nathan Wade.

Now, Judge Scott McAfee has decided that Wade's former law partner and divorce lawyer, Terrence Bradley, cannot avoid testifying on what he knows about the relationship by claiming attorney-client privilege. Defense counsel has alleged that Bradley has knowledge that the relationship started before both Willis and Wade say that it did in 2022.

The judge also said he would consider the question of the cellphone evidence that the Trump team was trying to enter into evidence on Friday. As we reported, they had cellphone data that they had obtained from AT&T through a subpoena. That data showed that Wade was in the Hapeville neighborhood where Willis was living at least 35 times before he was hired, but he claimed that he was not there more than 10 times in his testimony.

It also showed at least two visits late at night/early morning in the area in September and November 2021, with a text or call to Willis in the early morning. There were also more than 2,000 calls between the two and more than 10,000 text messages in the first 11 months of 2021, which was before they claimed to the court that they were romantically involved. Both had testified that they had not spent the night together at the Hapewell address.

Rep. Ken Buck: Biden Cabinet Should Invoke 25th Amendment

Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., on Monday introduced a resolution that would call on President Joe Biden's Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, a first step in the process of removing the president from office.

Buck's resolution presses Vice President Kamala Harris to convene Joe Biden's Cabinet and “declare what is obvious to a horrified Nation: That the President is unable to successfully discharge the duties and powers of his office.”

The move comes as a surprise: Buck has been steadfast against a Biden impeachment inquiry, and twice voted against impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the administration's failures to secure the southern border with Mexico.

The Washington Examiner quoted a statement from Buck on the matter: "Numerous instances were articulated in the report, and have played out in full public view, showing President Biden’s apparent cognitive decline and lack of mental stamina.

“The societal challenges and security threats our country faces are innumerable and require a chief executive with both strong mental and physical faculties. The time has come for the vice president and the Cabinet to put our country first and move forward on invoking the 25th Amendment.”

We’ve been hearing two versions of important confidential FBI source information regarding evidence of the Biden family's foreign influence peddling; both can’t be true without seriously doubting the agency’s competence.

One story has it — as reported by FBI Director Christopher Wray to House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio — that Alexander Smirnov, who reported a conversation whereby the head of corrupt Ukrainian energy company Burisma claimed paying both former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden each $5 million, was entirely reliable.

As Rep. Comer recalled on the Maria Bartiromo’s Feb. 5 "Sunday Morning Futures" program, "All we knew about Smirnov was the 1023 [form] allegation. We knew from sources that the FBI had never investigated it, and all we knew was what Christopher Wray told us, that this informant was one of their most trusted and highest paid in the bureau, and he had been in that position for over 10 years, so that's all we knew about him."

Last May, Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, issued a subpoena demanding that Wray provide a copy of that 1023 form to members of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability along with accompanying attachments and documents, threatening to hold the FBI director in contempt if he refused.

According to a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, more than three quarters of voters want Special Council Robert Hur’s report on President Joe Biden released, The Hill has reported.

While only 24 percent of respondents said the contents of the report should be kept private, 76 percent said Hur’s report on Biden should be released so that voters can come to their own conclusions regarding the case.

When broken down by party affiliation, the poll found that 91 percent of Republicans, 73 percent of independents and 64 percent of Democrats want the report made public.

Since its release, the Hur report has become known for its candid and controversial description of Biden’s cognitive abilities. While no charges were brought against Biden in the classified documents case, the report made a point to note, "We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

U.S.Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns says American firms face multiple challenges in China, particularly the lack of intellectual property (IP) protection.

In an appearance on CBS News’s “60 Minutes” aired on Feb. 25, Mr. Burns said IP challenges were one of the concerns he had heard from U.S. companies operating in China.

“There is still intellectual property theft from American companies here,” Mr. Burns said.

Asked whether every American company fears IP theft in China, he replied, “Yes.”

For years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been stealing IPs and trade secrets from companies and institutions with the aim of turning China into a technology and IP powerhouse. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, in a report published in 2018, found that “Chinese theft of American IP currently costs between $225 billion and $600 billion annually.”

Top Republican Reveals New ‘Whistleblower’ in Fani Willis’s Office

The head of the House Judiciary Committee revealed the information at CPAC.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) revealed on Feb. 23 during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that there is a whistleblower in the office of embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

During the event, Mr. Jordan, head of the House Judiciary Committee, said, “There’s a whistleblower in her office who we have talked to, the committee staff.

“The whistleblower, I think she’s 4’11”, but Fani Willis had like seven police officers escort her out when she fired this lady. She raised the concern that Ms. Willis was not following the rules of grant dollars in an appropriate manner.

“[The whistleblower is] now talking with our office, and we’ll see how that goes. But that’s why we have subpoenaed documents related to this.”

Former President Trump overwhelmingly sailed off into the sunset on Saturday after securing a win in the South Carolina primary election against GOP rival former ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.).

Haley might have — and still is— living in denial that Trump will be the GOP nominee, but liberal news media is too.

CNN is shocked to learn that despite four indictments and countless political witch hunts against Trump, voters still want to see him back in the White House.

The Left-wing outlet admitted that Trump has made one of the greatest political comebacks in American history.

“It doesn’t even make sense,” one of the hosts said.

Koch-Backed Group Drops Financial Backing for Haley

Americans for Prosperity Action, the conservative network championed by entrepreneur Charles Koch, is pausing its financial backing of GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley in the wake of Haley's recent defeat to former President Donald Trump in the primary in South Carolina, her home state, CNBC reports.

While Americans for Prosperity Action continues to stand behind Haley's candidacy for the presidency, it will now offer its support solely through vocal endorsement rather than financial contributions, according to the group.

"Given the challenges in the primary states ahead, we don't believe any outside group can make a material difference to widen her path to victory," AFP Action CEO Emily Seidel wrote in a staff email. "And so while we will continue to endorse her, we will focus our resources where we can make the difference."

The move represents another setback for Haley, who has faced a series of challenges since the onset of the election year. In addition to this decision, billionaire Reid Hoffman has also ceased funding Haley's presidential aspirations.

Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York said that the United States is allowing hostile foreign countries to “brainwash” college students.

Stefanik told WMAL talk show host and Daily Caller Editorial Director Vince Coglianese that while her questioning of then-Harvard President Claudine Gay about anti-Semitism on campus garnered headlines, there was another matter that didn’t get attention. Gay announced she would resign her position as president of Harvard University following multiple allegations of plagiarism and fallout from her testimony. “We’re allowing our adversaries to spew their propaganda and attempt to brainwash our next generation of students when it comes to what we’re seeing in the rise of antisemitism on campuses,” Stefanik told Coglianese. “I’m very concerned of Qatar money going into Middle Eastern studies departments, and one of the questions I asked the president of Harvard, now former president, that did not get as much media coverage but was very, very important, is account for your foreign dollars, how much.”

“She would not answer the question,” Stefanik said.
