Glenn Greenwald exits Intercept, damning the lockstep liberal media

Pulitzer-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald just quit the publication he co-founded, The Intercept, after its editors refused to let him publish an article on Hunter Biden’s e-mails that defended The Post’s reporting.

He wrote about his decision at Substack, where he’ll be joining other left-leaning iconoclasts such as Andrew Sullivan and Matt Taibbi, living off subscriptions to uncensored content.

His comments are blisteringly incisive — utterly eviscerating the lockstep left-of-center media:

“Rather than offering a venue for airing dissent, marginalized voices and unheard perspectives, [The Intercept] is rapidly becoming just another media outlet with mandated ideological and partisan loyalties, a rigid and narrow range of permitted viewpoints (ranging from establishment liberalism to soft leftism, but always anchored in ultimate support for the Democratic Party), a deep fear of offending hegemonic cultural liberalism and center-left Twitter luminaries, and an overarching need to secure the approval and admiration of the very mainstream media outlets we created The Intercept to oppose, critique and subvert.”

More, he notes: “The Intercept published some of the most credulous and false affirmations of maximalist Russiagate madness, and, horrifyingly, took the lead in falsely branding the Hunter Biden archive as ‘Russian disinformation’ by mindlessly and uncritically citing — of all things — a letter by former CIA officials that contained this baseless insinuation.”

Greenwald says he asked the New York staff, rather than censoring his arguments, “to air their disagreements with me by writing their own articles that critique my perspectives and letting readers decide who is right, the way any confident and healthy media outlet would.”

It was a no-go: “Modern media outlets do not air dissent; they quash it.” Appalling.

This coming Tuesday, as you head off to the polls to cast your vote, remember this: Joe Biden is a pathological liar.

Donald Trump may be rude and crude. He may be abrasive and off-putting. His Twitter temperament may be caustic, his leadership style demanding, his political instincts heavy-handed, and his use of hyperbole a bit extreme; yes, President Trump may be a pugnacious man with many flaws that he doesn’t even care to hide, but Joe Biden is a proven, habitual, unrepentant fraud and a pathological liar of the highest order.

Civil rights activist Shaun King says this. “Since the early 1970s, Joe Biden has been a serial liar …”

Keep November clear: Trump campaign considers post-election rallies while votes are counted

Whether a winner is declared on Election Day or not, top Trump surrogates have been asked to remain available for potential post-election rallies.

Those rallies may even take place while votes are still being counted, according to Trump campaign advisers. The campaign is considering a "morale boost" tour for supporters in key battleground states such as Pennsylvania and North Carolina, similar to the "thank you" tour President Trump went on after his 2016 upset, according to Politico.

In that tour, Trump visited Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Alabama — allowing Trump to revel in his victory with the supporters who paved his way to the White House. He was joined by the likes of Diamond and Silk, Hope Hicks, and Kellyanne Conway.

"Don't miscount the fact that Trump will continue to do rallies while they're still counting votes,” one adviser to the Trump campaign told the outlet.

The next time a cable news anchor mentions the perpetual "growing threat of right-wing violence in America" (which, for some reason, never becomes much more than a "threat"), I'd like them to also name the list of cities preparing for mass rioting on Election Day.

Here's a hint: None of them voted for President Trump in 2016.

CNN earlier this month reported that "police department leaders in cities from Baltimore to Seattle and Portland ... have prohibited officers from taking days off around the election."

It's not happening. That's because, just as we saw over the summer with the Black Lives Matter riots, violence and looting in response to political events is an exclusively liberal phenomenon.

But the media talk about this as if they're oblivious to the pattern. It's simply one more sign, they say, of our "divisive" politics.

No, it's not. It's a reminder that liberals act like animals when an election doesn't go their way.

On Tuesday, Americans go to the polls for what some commentators are calling the most important election of the century so far. There is no doubt that the stakes are high.

On one hand, an election victory for US President Donald Trump would deliver another four years of the frenetic style of leadership that has dominated the billionaire’s time running the world’s most powerful nation.

On the other hand, an election triumph for former vice president Joe Biden holds the promise of a return to normal in Washington, with a more considered decision-making process.

And while Australia seems far removed from what’s going on in the northern hemisphere, in terms of global geopolitics, this US presidential election may be the most important to Australia in over a generation.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf labeled Twitter a “threat” to America’s security on Friday, saying that the tech giant’s quick trigger finger in censoring government agencies could deny people information they need to be safe.

Mr. Wolf’s comments came after an embarrassing incident in which Twitter expunged a tweet about the border wall and locked the account of the head of Customs and Border Protection, saying it was “hateful” to claim that “walls work” to stop gang members and criminals from getting across.

Twitter caved after nearly 24 hours, restoring the tweet and access to the account.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said that "censorship" by Twitter presents a threat to the United States's national security.

After Twitter removed a tweet from Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan and locked him out of his account for a time, Wolf wrote in a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Friday.

"Such censorship is disturbing. Twitter's conduct censoring U.S. government officials also endangers the national security," Wolf said.

Twitter Finally Lifts Ban on The New York Post's Account Four Days Before the Election

Two weeks after banning The New York Post's reporting that exposed Joe Biden's apparent involvement in his son's overseas business activities, Twitter backed off on Friday and finally ended the ban on The Post's Twitter account.

The Post reports that Twitter demanded the newspaper founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton delete six tweets that linked to stories exposing Hunter Biden's overseas business activities and an apparent pay-to-play scheme involving Joe Biden before Twitter would restore access to The New York Post's account. Twitter appears to have made up out of whole cloth the allegation that The Post's reporting was based on hacked materials.

The Post never relented, and Twitter finally restored access to their account on Friday, four days before the election.

Prominent journalist Glenn Greenwald on Thursday resigned from The Intercept, a news organization he co-founded, after editors sought to “censor” an article he wrote about The Post’s exposé on documents retrieved from a Hunter Biden laptop.

Greenwald is best known for his 2013 reporting on leaked mass-surveillance documents from former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. His work for The Guardian won the Pulitzer Prize.

“The Intercept’s editors, in violation of my contractual right of editorial freedom, censored an article I wrote this week, refusing to publish it unless I remove all sections critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden,” Greenwald wrote in a blog post.

You have a strong, disruptive, sitting president who unabashedly loves America and seeks to tame Washington. He openly supports and defends the principles and ideals on which America is founded.

When President Trump took the oath of office, he vowed to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The guy was not kidding.

A new round of polls this week from the Trafalgar Group has President Trump leading Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden in Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Michigan, showing Mr. Trump’s 2016 path to victory has not yet been upset.

The two candidates are also in an incredibly tight race for Wisconsin, according to a recent survey conducted by Robert Cahaly, the chief pollster for Trafalgar Group.

Mr. Cahaly has been described as one of the most accurate pollsters from the 2016 election, and he is now warning about a “hidden Trump vote” not accounted for in other polls.

Concluding its Fifth Plenum, the Chinese Communist Party made clear that it intends to double down on U.S. intellectual property theft. Beijing didn't use such explicit words, of course, but that's the key takeaway from this week's announcement.

One commentator explained the situation in an article circulated in state media. The effort to dramatically bolster China's independent technology base was necessary, he said, toward "building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, to seize the major opportunities of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, to build a new development pattern and shape new development advantages, we need more innovative forces and give full play to scientific and technological innovation that has not been seen in a century."

China’s motive here is to ensure its continued innovation in military, telecommunications, and scaled-up hardware export industries. If it fails to master that innovation curve, the regime knows that its inherent structural weakness, the destruction of capital inherent to its socialist command economy model, will override any potential for sustained economic growth. That will bury Xi Jinping’s master plan for eventual global supremacy. Whoever wins in Tuesday's election will have to grapple with this reality over the next four years.

President Trump told supporters in Michigan on Friday that Democratic rival Joe Biden would “eradicate the economy” while he would “eradicate the virus,” as he delivered his closing message in the remaining days of the election.

The presidential competitors are both crisscrossing the Midwest on Friday in a last-ditch battle for the vote before Tuesday. Both candidates will visit Wisconsin and Minnesota, while Trump is visiting Michigan and Biden will visit Iowa.

“Joe Biden is going to lock down your state, wipe out your factories, ship your jobs to China, punish your family with a $4 trillion tax hike, eliminate private healthcare, and send your state into a deep depression,” Trump warned Michiganders in Waterford.

“Joe Biden is promising a long, dark and painful winter. I am delivering the Great American Comeback!” he promised.

While Trump's Michigan supporters stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the 34-degree weather, Biden is holding socially-distanced events and drive-in rallies.

"I'm watching these Biden rallies, it's like there's nobody. They say they want to do it that way, of course, but the problem is nobody shows up. At least he's doing a rally, he got out of the basement," Trump said.

Trump has frequently pitched Tuesday's election as a high-stakes choice between a "socialist hellhole" under Biden and the "American Dream" under him.

Former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee says the CEOS of Facebook and Twitter 'were caught with their hands in the cookie jar' when they struggled to name a single liberal who has been censored on their platforms.


On August 30, 2019, Facebook notified Lila Rose, the president of the pro-life group Live Action, that an independent fact-checker had rated two of her group’s videos as “false.” Facebook said it would therefore suppress the videos and notify all users who shared the videos that they had shared “false news.”

The videos suppressed by Facebook claimed that “abortion is never medically necessary” — a claim that two pro-abortion activists said had been labeled as “false” by a group called “Science Feedback.”

After The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists came to Live Action’s defense, writing that fact-checkers “are in error to claim that elective abortion is medically necessary to save the life of the mother,” Facebook removed the “false” label from the videos and stopped suppressing their distribution.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has since admitted his company was wrong to suppress Live Action’s content and Facebook has changed the way it fact-checks content on its platform. But the suppression of conservative voices continues.

Just last month, Facebook banned pro-life ads from Susan B. Anthony List exposing former Vice President Joe Biden’s support for late-term abortion, this time relying on a “fact-check” from The Dispatch, a self-appointed fact-check organization. The Dispatch eventually retracted its fact-check, admitting it was completely wrong, and Facebook then reinstated the ads.

Each of these Big Tech CEOs has made public statements claiming to operate his company without political bias. Clearly, that is false. These claims make me think there is a good case to be made that these companies are engaging in “unfair or deceptive trade practices” in violation of federal law.

If these companies are not already in violation of federal consumer law protections, then it may be necessary to review these laws to ensure that these companies are held accountable, ensuring that they must provide truthful information to consumers and are not able to act deceptively or unfairly in the marketplace.

We’re either right or wrong. There is no in-between here concerning the polls. These liberal outlets are oversampling Democrats, ignoring Trump Democrats, not accounting for fewer young voters turning out, and including way too many college-educated voters to craft a narrative that this country holds a D+15 electorate. It's just not true. Trump Democrats are being ignored. Rural Republicans are being bypassed. The suburban cohort of the GOP—sure. They’re the squishiest and most vocally anti-Trump of the group. At Trump’s rallies, around 25 percent of the attendees didn’t vote in 2016. Some firms haven’t even moved off from registered voter samples. It’s a trainwreck. Biden is supposedly ahead by double-digits, which his camp says is not true. They’re admitting the polls are inflated, which could also be a ploy to keep their base anxious and ready to vote. They don’t want complacency to settle in like it did in 2016. Yet, the rule hasn’t changed: never underestimate anything when Trump is on the ballot and at the top of the ticket.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is also feeling good about President Trump’s chances for re-election. Appearing on Fox News’ Sean Hannity’s show, the former speaker said that the Electoral College result will shock the Left. He has Trump clinching another Electoral College landslide, nabbing 326 electoral votes (via RealClearPolitics):

How long can the media ignore this story? They’re trying to suffocate it with a pillow a la One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It’s a story. Sorry, you may not like it. I know you hate the timing, liberal media, but Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and his brother Jim might all be dirty. The Biden camp has yet to refute the scores of emails from Hunter Biden that weave a sordid and wide-reaching web of corruption. You already know about Hunter’s Burisma gig in Ukraine, where he was getting $50k/month to reportedly sell access to top Obama officials. This arrangement was made back in 2014-15, around the time daddy Biden, the VP, was helming our policy efforts there. Joe fired the prosecutor looking into Burisma for corruption by threatening to ax aid to the country. Emails show Burisma executives expected legal protection with Hunter’s position. They got it. Joe Biden went rogue to protect his son.

With the China deal, which looks like another corrupt venture, that arrangement has been further fleshed out by whistleblower Tony Bobulinski, who gave the FBI all records and devices related to these alleged shady deals with CEFC China Energy, which has ties to the government. This deal was first hashed out when Joe was VP, the deal sought to give Joe, identified as “big guy” in these emails, a 10 percent equity stake, and Bobulinski straight-up has said that a) the Bidens are compromised, b) Joe knew full well what his son was doing. He was in on it. Hell, Hunter called his dad the “chairman.” The deal collapsed in 2017, but not after the Chinese firm doled out a $5 million personal loan to the Bidens. And now, we have confirmation from Department of Justice officials that Hunter Biden has been under federal investigation for money laundering since 2019.

Actions speak louder than words. Donald Trump comes from the private sector, where results matter more than promises. As president, he has delivered on the promises he made four years ago.

Unemployment in America fell to a 50-year-low under President Trump. Specifically, the lowest unemployment rates ever recorded by category were achieved by African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, people with disabilities and veterans. Over the past five months, Americans have added more than 11 million new jobs. Mr. Trump knows how to get people back to work.

In contrast, former Vice President Joe Biden says he would get rid of the Trump tax cuts. That means a crippling tax increase of $4 trillion just as Americans are getting back on our feet again after the global pandemic. The tax cuts signed by Mr. Trump lowered the tax burden for 82% of working families in our country. Those same families would see a tax increase if Mr. Biden repeals the tax cuts — as he says he will if elected president.

Earlier this year, Mr. Trump took action when Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx warned him and Vice President Mike Pence that they needed to do something or as many as 2.2 million Americans could die from coronavirus. They did. We bent the curve and it saved lives. Now, the Trump administration is taking action to get America working again.

With the revelation this week of the author of that notorious "Anonymous" op-ed in the New York Times, it's settled: The paper of record is broken.

When the New York Times published that piece back in September 2018, it described the author as a "senior official in the Trump administration." Now, we know that "senior official" was Miles Taylor, a CNN contributor who at the time of the op-ed was an underling to the underling of the secretary of Homeland Security.

In a news article following Taylor's decision to come forward, the New York Times boosted his authority by describing him as "frequently in meetings with top White House officials and sometimes with the president." Taylor, the New York Times said, "had access to the decision-making meetings in the department and with other agencies about a range of topics such as immigration, cybersecurity, terrorism and border security."

He was "frequently in meetings!" He had "access!"

The memos went from Comey to a friend who then went to the New York Times to read them to a reporter. The reporter did not even have the notes firsthand, only what was read to them by the secondhand source.

The "paper of record" became more like the paper of remember — if you can.

Trump didn't break the New York Times. The paper has collapsed on its own.

Conservative: Trump’s Smashing Court Success

With Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation, President Trump is now clearly “the most important president in the modern era when it comes to shaping the judiciary,” cheers The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen. Trump has justified every conservative who voted for him for the sake of the courts. He has named three sound justices, where a President Hillary Clinton would have pushed the Supreme Court the opposite way. Democrats’ high-court picks always lean left, but so have many named by Republicans: “So Democrats have a perfect record on recent Supreme Court appointments, while Republicans were not even batting .500 — until Trump came along.” In short, he “has produced a court that will protect our freedoms for decades to come.”

“The year 2020 has brought enormous challenges, and the question now is whether our reformist spirit is up to the task,” warns Matt Purple at Spectator USA. “Yet there is hope.” Considering our past — our wars, riots, labor unrest, assassinations, crime — “2020 looks less like a violent departure than a return to form.” America’s problems aren’t “unprecedented in her history,” nor unique among nations today. Her “would-be challengers are relatively weak”; the only two exceptions are Russia and China, but “neither poses the threat of, say, a Soviet Union.” Yes, that still leaves the question of whether we can remain strong “internally.” Fact is, “the United States could very well fall.” But “that doesn’t mean it has to.” Ultimately, he concludes, it’s “up to us.”
