Bill Clinton was the first president to embrace the “permanent campaign,” meaning a White House always in full election mode. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has now made her own dubious contribution to American history, by setting up the possibility of a Congress in permanent impeachment mode.
The mechanics of impeachment almost always promise a clash between a president of one party and a Congress dominated by another. Even so, by forgoing a full House vote to authorize an impeachment inquiry, Mrs. Pelosi has amped up the partisanship....

Biden should drop out to make way for a moderate not tainted by corruption

Joe Biden’s corrupt dealings in Ukraine and those of his son must be investigated, and the time has come for him to drop out of the presidential race.
While Biden served as vice president, his son Hunter was unaccountably making $50,000 a month “consulting” in an industry with which he was totally unfamiliar (energy), in a notoriously graft-prone country where he didn’t speak the language (Ukraine). Hunter made similarly sketchy deals with China.
President Trump’s phone call this summer with his Ukrainian counterpart may have been ill-advised, but it simply didn’t rise to an impeachable offense. Meanwhile, the American people deserve to know the truth about the Biden family’s lucrative dealings with other countries during the Obama administration.

Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen are calling on the entity that manages the retirement funds for most government workers to avoid a specific market index so as not to invest in companies under the control of the People's Republic of China.
The senators, who represent Florida and New Hampshire respectively, made the case in an op-ed Monday that the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board's decision to use the MSCI All Country World ex-U.S. Investable Market Index as a benchmark will funnel the government workers' retirement savings to the Chinese Communist Party.
"The Board’s decision to force our nation’s public servants to invest TSP retirement funds in unscrupulous Chinese companies raises serious fiduciary concerns because it ignores a fundamental tenet of our securities laws: investor protection," they said. "It’s our responsibility to ensure that U.S. service members and federal employees do not unwittingly undermine the American interests they work hard everyday to protect."

I want to talk about the importance of words and the context they create. And I want to urge everybody who's fair to never use the word "impeachment" for the current political process, because it has nothing to do with an impeachment.
This is a legislative coup d'etat. It is an effort by the hard left, the news media, and the deep state to destroy the president chosen by the American people. This is a project they've been involved in since election night 2016.
So far, we have had two years of a totally false Russian narrative, which even the editor of The New York Times had to admit failed with the Mueller report because it revealed there was no collusion. In those two years, we had FBI agents who were leaking. We had all sorts of effort by people in the deep state to destroy the president. We had The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the networks doing everything they could to destroy Trump and they failed.

Now they've come back with a new effort based on a new supposed scandal — which will turn out to be as phony as the Russian project was. But this fits the whole attitude of the left because they wake up every morning just certain Trump has done something terrible. They think he must be replaced. We can't wait till the next election, so they just try anything to get rid of him. This is, in constitutional terms, a coup d'etat. It is an effort by one branch of the government to destroy the incumbent president of the United States without any regard for the facts.

It is a deliberate effort by the left, both in the news media and in the Congress, to destroy the sitting president of the United States. It should be dealt with as such and we should be prepared to demand that they have to be open and engaged.
No one should be confused by the current phony, one-sided partisan effort. It’s not in any way an impeachment process. It is a denial of the American Constitution, a repudiation of the American people's choice of president, and an effort to impose on the country what the left wants — whether the rest of us want it or not.

In Trump impeachment, 'no one is above the law' could backfire on Democrats

"No one is above the law," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as she announced the Democratic effort to impeach President Trump over the Ukraine matter. The phrase has become a Democratic mantra in the new impeachment push. But it could, in the end, serve to highlight the weakness of the Democratic strategy.
The reason is, by stressing that Trump is not "above the law," Democrats are basing their case against the president on the argument that he broke the law and must be held accountable. But it's not at all clear that Trump broke any laws in the Ukraine matter. In the face of a vigorous Republican defense, any argument on that question is likely to end inconclusively.
Democrats might better say, "No president is above impeachment," which lacks punch but is more accurate. Doing so, however, would emphasize the political nature of the battle and could make it more difficult for Democrats to win broad support for removing Trump. So they say "No one is above the law." But what, exactly, does that mean?

Georgia Republican Rep. Doug Collins says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi abused her oath of office by saying an impeachment inquiry had started.
House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Doug Collins told Fox News on Sunday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has "abused" her role with her treatment of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, claiming the president won't receive "due process" over a whistleblower's claim he improperly pushed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a July phone call to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, who served on the board of an energy company in Ukraine.
"We saw Speaker Pelosi abuse her oath of office, if you would, by abusing the role of the speaker by saying an impeachment inquiry had started and they were sending it to the Intelligence Committee where you have a gentleman who has a habit of lying about the facts, [Rep. Adam] Schiff," Collins, R-Ga., told host Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures." "They have decided to walk down a path in which they are in contrary to American values. They're not going to allow this president to have due process. They're not going to be fair. They're going to ramrod this thing through."
Collins also said Trump was "not in jeopardy of being removed from office. He's in jeopardy of having to continue that onslaught of lies and attacks and half-truths from a one-sided investigation in the House."

2020 Dems are racing to the far left

With the media and Washington deep in the grips of Impeachment Fever, the race for the 2020 Democratic nomination is taking yet another left turn.
Joe Biden, The Washington Post reports, is trying to figure out how he can enter the Get-the-Rich sweepstakes, which until now was mainly a bidding war between Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
The ex-veep’s advisers, says the Post, are weighing coming out for a tax on “transactions such as the sale of stocks and bonds.”
It’s a terrible idea. Then-Mayor Abe Beame called New York’s stock-transfer tax of the late ’70s the “largest single obstacle to the competitive position of the New York financial community” and thus a burden on the entire city economy.

And it seems to be working: Warren, at least, is passing Biden in the polls and may now be the frontrunner. And so Biden feels the need to offer his own “anti-billionaire” tax, continuing his move far to the left of even President Barack Obama.
At this rate, the Democratic nominee is going to wind up as “electable” as Karl Marx.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says there's a double standard between an inquiry into Trump's phone call with the Ukrainian president and an inquiry into Hunter Biden's overseas business dealings.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., isn’t buying the legitimacy of the whistleblower’s complaint against President Trump – calling the allegations leveled against the president for his July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “all hearsay.”
“This seems to me like a political setup,” Graham said on CBS’ “Face The Nation.” “It's all hearsay. You can't get a parking ticket conviction based on hearsay. The whistleblower didn't hear the phone call.”

Teen behind Instagram fan accounts for Melania and Ivanka too nervous to reveal herself

When Eve, a 15-year-old from Maryland saw Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka speaking at the Republican National Convention in 2016, she immediately took a liking to her.
Admiring how poised she was while addressing the audience, Eve started an Instagram account dedicated to the famous first daughter called “AlwaysIvanka.” The account caught fire instantly, and in the days after Trump became president, it gained more than 10,000 followers, including the first daughter herself.
Over the course of the next six months, Eve noticed how little coverage First Lady Melania Trump was garnering for her work in the White House. So she started a matching account called “AlwaysMelania.” Today the Ivanka and Melania accounts have 125,000 and 240,000 followers, respectively, and are among the most popular accounts of their kind. The largest fan account for Melania, “MelaniaTrump.style,” is devoted to her fashion choices and boasts over 292,000 followers.
While Eve has made some money on the accounts in the form of sponsored posts, she views her work as merely a hobby, though she devotes a great deal of time keeping her fans updated on the latest appearances of the Trump women.
One would think running such a large and influential Instagram account would be a point of pride for a teenager. But because of the feverish anti-Trump atmosphere, Eve doesn’t feel comfortable telling friends at school about her activities or even letting me use her last name in this piece. She told me: “With the current political climate, I prefer erring on the side of caution.”
There are currently a dozen Instagram accounts on Ivanka with more than 7,000 followers each. The top dozen accounts following the first lady have more than 10,000 followers each. (Ivanka’s own Instagram account boasts more than 5 million followers, while more than 3 million follow Melania’s personal @flotus account.)
Why are so many hundreds of thousands of Instagram users — mostly women — fans of these accounts?
It could be because the media isn’t reporting on the work or looks of the Trump women. As Eve combs through press coverage, looking for photos of Melania and Ivanka for her Instagram account, she says she’s frustrated with how little the media report on anything Trump-related that isn’t outrageous or controversial.

Following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement of a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump, Wall Street Journal columnist Kim Strassel accused her of "ducking" her actual responsibilities with regard to the probe and said she has not followed proper protocol.
"It's not kosher at all," she said on "Journal Editorial Report," which aired this weekend. "That's why in some ways, she hasn't really committed her caucus to impeachment. And, there's an accountability issue here... they are ducking a very serious responsibility, because impeachment is a powerful tool and there's a constitutional obligation that there be some sort of a vote to implement it, to use it."
Pelosi, D-Calif., has yet to hold an official floor vote on the matter.
Strassel said it would fall to Pelosi to convince the public that a majority of the House even supported impeachment, and claimed the speaker was taking a big risk moving this hard and fast while defying conventional protocol.

"It's unclear when exactly [the vote] needs to happen, but... she needs to demonstrate to the country that a majority of the House of Representatives is actually in favor of taking this enormous step," she said.

Several news organizations have reported that the whistleblower behind the “Ukraine impeachment” feeding frenzy is a CIA officer who was detailed to the White House.
If accurate, that raises some very troubling questions and scenarios.
Not for President Trump. But rather, for the CIA and others in the Deep State who may be leaking confidential and top secret information for personal or partisan reasons.

The Trump White House and CIA have a history. Part of it has been adversarial from the very beginning of the Trump administration.
Over two years ago, new organizations reported that career officials within the CIA were doing everything in their power to remove Ezra Cohen-Watnick, Trump’s then-senior director for intelligence on the National Security Council.
The CIA officials were reportedly outraged that Cohen-Watnick, along with his previous boss, Michael Flynn, saw eye-to-eye about what they believed to be the failings of CIA human intelligence operations.

We knew things weren't looking so good for former Vice President Joe Biden. People have continually pointed out the corruption and swampiness of his son, Hunter Biden, receiving $50,000 a month from a Ukraine gas company because his dad was vice president at the time and had dealings with Ukraine. Not to mention Hunter had absolutely zero experience in the natural gas industry. But when Bill Maher, one of the loudest, most outspoken leftists, says this is super swampy looking, there just might be some truth in what is being said.
"When I read about this, I don't think he was doing something terrible in Ukraine, but it's just so – why can't politicians just tell their f**king kids to get a job? Get a f**king job," Maher said. "This kid was paid $600,000 because his name is Biden, by a gas company in Ukraine, in this super corrupt country. They just had a revolution to get rid of corruption. It just looks bad."
Maher said exactly what most Americans think: politicians' kids take advantage of their parents' status. It's like they're told they don't need to branch out on their own and start their own career. They can just piggy back off their parents' success. That's not the real world, or at least the real world for most people.

The impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1999 turned out exactly the way it appeared as it was happening: pointless. Do Democrats think impeaching Donald Trump will be any more pointful?
Stop and take a deep breath, guys. This is a rerun from the era of “Ally McBeal” and “Frasier.” You know how this episode ends. Try to think ahead. The Democratic-controlled House can impeach a ham sandwich if they like. But convicting Trump in the Republican-controlled Senate in order to remove him from office would require 67 votes.
The Democrats look like they have maybe 48. GOP senators such as Lindsey Graham (South Carolina), Thom Tillis (North Carolina) and the big dog, Mitch McConnell (Kentucky), the Senate majority leader and second-most-important man in Washington, are already digging in their heels and responding to impeachment talk with the polite equivalent of “AYFKM?”

President Trump launched a fresh attack on prominent Democrats on Saturday, accusing leading impeachment proponents of stalling progress and acting like "savages."
"Can you imagine if these Do Nothing Democrat Savages, people like Nadler, Schiff, AOC Plus 3, and many more, had a Republican Party who would have done to Obama what the Do Nothings are doing to me. Oh well, maybe next time!" he tweeted.
He took aim specifically at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., and the "Squad" of progressive freshman congresswomen led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
The president's comments came as House Democrats continued investigating the Trump administration and pursued an official impeachment inquiry surrounding his July phone call with Ukraine's president. Trump had urged President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into corruption suspicions surrounding former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic party's frontrunner for challenging Trump in 2020.

Google turns 21: A look back at the search engine giant’s iconic life

Raise a glass to Google, it’s finally old enough to drink. The popular search engine celebrated its 21st birthday Friday. In its lifetime, the tech giant has gone from a viral startup that quickly became the best way to look up info online to a behemoth corporation that affects so much of daily life (some say too much.)
It has made its mark on the world’s pop culture, survived financial set backs, and it even had a verb named after it. (Seriously, Google it!)
Here’s a timeline of the firm’s biggest moments as it grew year by year:
Birth: Brilliant geeks Larry Page and Sergey Brin launched the startup in September 1998, armed with $100,000 in startup cash. It’s named after the coding term googol, meaning a 1 followed by 100 zeros. They soon move into their pal Susan Wojcicki’s garage in Menlo Park, California, and snapped up the domain name google.com.
1st year: With more than 16 employees, the company outgrows the garage and moves into a real office in Palo Alto, California, in 1999.

American Majority founder Ned Ryun discusses the Democrats' impeachment inquiry on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight.'
An impeachment inquiry into President Trump is a foolish endeavor that will likely backfire on the Democratic Party, according to Ned Ryun.
Ryun, a former aide to President George W. Bush and current president of American Majority, said Friday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" the impeachment push is proof the far left is taking over the Democratic Party.
"With every passing day, Nancy Pelosi is really speaker-in-name-only," he said. "The inmates have taken over the asylum."

"You have Adam Schiff out there deciding that the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee is a platform for parody," he added, referring to the California Democrat reading his own version of President Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky without noting he'd made it all up.
"Democrats are willing to destroy all these norms because 'orange man bad'."
Ryun told host Tucker Carlson all of the controversies surrounding President Trump that have been raised by the Democrats are repeated attempts to undermine his presidency and avenge their 2016 election loss.
"They cannot stand the fact they are not in power and that Trump has a different approach to governing, not only domestically but on foreign policy as well," he said.
