President Trump deserves the Nobel peace prize for his efforts in securing peace between North and South Korea, according to South Korean President Moon Jae-in. At their historic meeting on Friday, Moon and Kim Jong-un leaders signed a declaration to mark a formal end to the Korean War later this year and agree to denuclearization.
“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize," Moon reportedly said Monday. "What we need is only peace.”
Moon made the comment during a phone call with Lee Hee-ho, the widow of late South Korean President Kim Dae-jung. Lee had called to congratulate Moon on his efforts at peace, until the South Korean president deflected praise to Trump.

Many believe social media is already too intrusive, but Facebook is planning to take things one step further — with a device that allows users to ‘feel’ messages through their skin.
It means Facebook fans will never miss a message or alert even at times when they can’t check a phone, such as during a meeting or even in church.
The device could also come in handy if a user is driving or carrying bags in each hand. Research published by Facebook claims the invention is needed because it can be ‘devastating to miss an important call, text or notification from a loved one’.

This unbelievable proposal would be laughable were it not so dangerous.’

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said that the Russia investigation into President Trump is a "very shameful chapter" in the history of the FBI.
His comments come as the House Intelligence Committee declared in a report released Friday that it “found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded, coordinated, or conspired with the Russian government.”
Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) also said on "Sunday Morning Futures" last week that "there was no intelligence" found to initiate the Russia probe.
The committee did, however, “find poor judgment and ill-considered actions by the Trump and Clinton campaign.”
"It was based on basically gossip, it did not come through normal channels. It did not warrant an investigation like this," King said.

SOCIAL MEDIA was supposed to be a fun, lively place to connect with high-school flings, share photos, brag humbly and get in occasional spats over “Star Wars” sequels. But recent revelations about the ways political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica trawled through Facebook FB -0.33% data have made people realize they’ve shared much more than just cat memes online.
A recent HarrisX poll found that 46% of Americans surveyed don’t believe Facebook protects their personal information, often more than twice that of rivals Twitter , Google, LinkedIn and Snapchat—another 25% were “uncertain.” While most people favor stricter regulations than ever around data privacy, years of studies by groups like the Pew Research Center have found that users are specifically concerned about who had access to the online information they share.
“It’s not so much the old definition of privacy—‘I want the right to be left alone,’” said Lee Rainie, director of internet and tech research at Pew, who sums up the new goal as “I want to control the world’s understanding of who I am.”

RIYADH – New U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo underscored the need for unity in the Gulf during a brief visit to the Saudi capital on Sunday as Washington aims to muster support among allies for new sanctions against Iran.
Pompeo reassured Saudi Arabia that the United States would abandon the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, reached under President Donald Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama, unless there is an agreement in talks with European partners to improve it to make sure the Islamic Republic never possesses a nuclear weapons.

A caravan of hundreds of Central Americans that has traveled through Mexico over the past month will arrive on the southern U.S. border on Sunday, setting up a showdown at the nation's busiest border crossing as the group turns themselves over to border inspectors seeking asylum.
The group of roughly 200 people, including women and young children, is expected to turn themselves over to border inspectors at San Diego's San Ysidro border crossing around 4 p.m. ET after arriving in Tijuana last week, claiming they have a credible fear of persecution at home. Demonstrators gathered along the border to hold a rally in the hours before crossing over, with some people scaling the fence.

Members of the press will treat themselves Saturday evening to drinks and selfies with vaguely familiar celebrities before sitting down for dinner and a comedy routine presented by "The Daily Show" alum Michelle Wolf.
The annual White House Correspondents’ dinner will also feature the usual speeches about how crucial journalists are to keeping America free. They’ll no doubt be told, either from the podium or by each other, that they’re more important than ever because of the man in the White House.
It’s a gaudy affair, brimming with dreary self-congratulation. And it’s also a reminder that the press has yet to grasp that its declining credibility is largely of its own making.

An officer by the name of Mambasse Koulabalo Patara was arrested on federal charges for allegedly violating immigration laws. The officer was apprehended at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Pine Valley.

The British government’s decision to allow two critically ill babies to die in two years is a natural reflection of the culture of death and the steady increase in totalitarian tendencies among Western governments.
Last year, the British government ordered life support removed from Charlie Gard, ending his life when he was just 11 months old. Now, Alfie Evans – just 23 months old – has received what amounts to the same death sentence. On Monday, he was removed from life support by court order – against the wishes of his parents.
Then something remarkable happened. The child confounded his doctors and refused to die.
As of the time I am writing this, Alfie Evans is still alive and is breathing unaided. This is despite the claim made by a medical professional during a court hearing that Alfie would die quickly – possibly in “minutes” – if taken off life support.

WASHINGTON—Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany described the Iranian nuclear deal as a “building block” and part of a “mosaic” needed to contain Tehran, becoming Friday the second major U.S. ally in a week to lobby President Donald Trump inside the White House about the merits of the pact.
Ms. Merkel also sought to reassure Mr. Trump on trade and military spending, saying that Germany would boost military funding and signaling a new openness to the kind of bilateral-trade agreements that the U.S. president has said he favors.
Mr. Trump has repeatedly threatened to withdraw from the Iran deal and signaled an openness to a parallel deal during a visit earlier this week with President Emmanuel Macron of France. On Friday, Mr. Trump spoke about the need to keep Iran from building a nuclear weapon but also stopping its proliferation of missiles and support for terrorism.

THE island fortresses are built. The airfields are ready. The harbours are open.
All China needs do now is move in the warships and combat jets.
The chief of US Fleet Forces Command has told US Congress that Beijing has built up enough military infrastructure in the South China Sea to completely control the disputed waterway.
“Once occupied, China will be able to extend its influence thousands of miles to the south and project power deep into Oceania,” Admiral Philip S. Davidson wrote.
“The PLA will be able to use these bases to challenge US presence in the region, and any forces deployed to the islands would easily overwhelm the military forces of any other South China Sea-claimants.
“In short, China is now capable of controlling the South China Sea in all scenarios short of war with the United States.”

TREATY TROUBLES
Admiral Davidson has been nominated to take over the United States’ Pacific Command, responsible for co-ordinating army, navy and air force actions in that region.
He says only an armed conflict could now stop Beijing from closing the South China Sea’s international sea lanes.
He told politicians this was why it was vital to recapture the technological advantage US forces held for five decades after World War II.
“In the future, hypersonic and directed energy weapons, resilient space, cyber and network-capabilities, and well-trained soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coastguardsmen will be crucial to our ability to fight and win,” he said.

A pair of B-52 Stratofortress bombers flew a training mission over the South China Sea this week, according to multiple reports on Friday.
The bombers took off from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam on Tuesday, according to the reports, which cited Pacific Air Forces. They then flew to Okinawa and trained in the area with F-15C Strike Eagles. Afterward, the bombers flew back to Guam.
Pacific Air Forces did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Hill.

It’s ill timed. It’s ill advised. It’s an exercise in being a sore loser. The Democratic National Committee’s lawsuit against the Trump campaign, Russia, and Wikileaks for allegedly colluding during the 2016 election is one massive eye roll. Even liberal Democrats have given it a chilly reception, while red state Democrats, like Claire McCaskill (D-MO) are labeling it a “silly distraction.” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) is not supportive of the legal effort, telling for a California liberal in a state that’s positioning itself as a bastion of anti-Trump resistance. CNN’s Gloria Borger said it was a stunt for the DNC to fundraise. She’s not wrong. The DNC is cash-strapped and they owe the Clinton wing of the party almost $2 million for access to their data lists.
ABC News’ Political Director Rick Klein was on The Joe Piscopo Show Monday where he said that this lawsuit legitimizes President Trump’s claims that it’s all sour grapes for Democrats, speaking about the Mueller investigation into possible Russian collusion between his campaign and the Kremlin. Former FBI Director James Comey, in a wide-ranging interview with Fox News on Thursday, defended sharing his memos about conversations with President Trump with multiple people, while denying it was a “leak.”
“That memo was unclassified then,” Comey told anchor Bret Baier during an appearance on “Special Report.” “It's still unclassified. It's in my book. The FBI cleared that book before it could be published.”
Comey acknowledged giving the memos to at least three people including his friend, Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman. He said he sent Richman a copy of the two-page unclassified memo and “asked him to get the substance of it out to the media.”
“The reason I'm smiling, Bret,” Comey said. “I don't consider what I shared Mr. Richman a leak.”

The Senate narrowly confirmed CIA Director Mike Pompeo to be secretary of State on Thursday, overcoming steep opposition to his nomination.
Senators voted 57-42, just over the simple majority needed for approval by the chamber.
Pompeo’s confirmation was a virtual lock after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) reversed his position and said he would support Trump’s pick.

A collection of activist groups in California is organizing a march to the U.S.-Mexico border to meet asylum seekers from a much publicized caravan, and immigration lawyers will be part of the procession.
