OK, this is really boring, but it’s time to eat some vegetables. Together, let’s try to stay awake.

Remember back in 2016 when we suffered through endless, tedious lectures from a magazine called National Review about how former President Donald Trump was such a threat to the Republican Party? He was not really conservative, they insisted, and he was a grave assault on the values and beliefs of regular Americans.

Of course, you don’t remember. Because you love your family, you love America, and you have better things to do than read tedious screeds from a cruise ship lecture circuit that publishes a goofball magazine as a failed side hustle.

OPINION:


With the 24-hour news cycle bombarding us with a constant stream of breaking news, posts and tweets, it’s becoming more and more common to miss an important story because of all the noise. A glowing example of this occurred recently when the Justice Department returned an indictment of 11 individuals for their alleged involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S Capitol.

As the illegitimate Jan. 6 committee in U.S. House — in coordination with the biased mainstream media – searches for its latest phony narrative about what the Trump White House might have known about the events of Jan. 6 ahead of time, some inconvenient facts have come out. It appears as if the parallel criminal investigation at DOJ threw a bucket of cold water on Congress’ latest political witch hunt of former President Donald Trump.

Buried on page 22 of the indictment, critically important information was disclosed to the public that should have garnered “above the fold” placement in the news as well as ample network coverage on television. In fact, I would wager to say that if it were establishment Democrats being investigated, evidence such as this would have exploded into a media-feeding frenzy in real time.

The "most important policy objective" the Heritage Foundation has is to take America back, and that includes a focus not only on politics but on the state of education in the United States, Kevin Roberts, the foundation's new president, tells Newsmax.

"We have to recognize that the most important policy objective we have in the United States, what all of you in the Trump administration were working on so nobly, is to take this country back to restore its institutions to truth and goodness," Roberts told Newsmax's "The Gorka Reality Check" Sunday.

That will mean tackling domestic opposition, including school superintendents and teachers' unions and their focus on educational curriculum focusing on topics such as critical race theory, and facing foreign opponents as well, Roberts told show host Sebastian Gorka, who served as a deputy assistant to the president in the administration of former President Donald Trump.

Former President Donald Trump spoke at a rally in Conroe, Texas Saturday where he criticized the Biden administration’s foreign policy and the “rigged” 2020 election.

WATCH:

“Every day Biden’s incompetence is putting America at risk. As everyone knows what Putin and Russia are doing with Ukraine, would never ever, not even possible, have happened if I was president,” Trump said, referring to growing Russian aggression on the Ukrainian border. Fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine have increased as 130,000 Russian troops have amassed on the border, leading the U.S. Department of State to put 8,500 soldiers on high alert for deployment into nearby NATO countries.

Reports indicate that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has fled his home for a secret location as a result of vaccine mandate protests which occurred at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. The protestors were there for the "Freedom Convoy" to oppose vaccine mandates for cross-border truck drivers between Canada and the United States. Many were also there to oppose Wuhan coronavirus restrictions imposed by the Canadian government.

As John Paul Tasker reported for CBC News:

Trudeau and his family are no longer at their home, Rideau Cottage, which is on the property of the Governor General's residence in the New Edinburgh neighbourhood of Ottawa — roughly four kilometres from the epicentre of the protest.

The Prime Minister's Office said it could not comment on Trudeau's whereabouts for security reasons. His itinerary, which normally lists the city where he's staying, said only that he's in the "national capital region."

Even with Europe braced for a shooting war in Ukraine, the Winter Olympics set to begin in China and a pandemic still uncontained, the North Korean leader is using a battery of missile firings to remind the world of the threat he poses and give President Biden another growing foreign policy headache to address.

Pyongyang on Sunday test-fired what experts are calling the most powerful missile since Mr. Biden took office more than a year ago. It was the seventh launch in January after a long period of quiet and diplomatic drift as the U.S. administration settled in.

Former President Donald Trump raised fears of a world war spurred by President Biden’s foreign policy in biting remarks Saturday at a campaign-style rally in Texas.

The former president piled on the criticism as the Biden administration prepares to deploy troops to Eastern Europe and NATO countries as tensions escalate over a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“China is threatening Taiwan,” Mr. Trump said. “Iran is on the cusp of a nuclear bomb. Russia may take over from Ukraine.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton told Newsmax on Friday that the Biden administration knows exactly what they are doing regarding reports of them ignoring immigrants entering the country illegally, according to the New York Post.

"They clearly don't want people to know what they're doing," Paxton, a Republican, told "Spicer & Co." "I know from law enforcement in Texas that they watch people come in on buses — illegal immigrants at night — and they get off the bus, and they just disappear," he continued.

"And that's going on all over the country, and for those who think that only border states are going to have to deal with this as we go forward, whether it's, you know, COVID or social costs of having illegal immigrants in your state, this is going to be a nationwide problem and nationwide epidemic."

When Trump took the stage, he called out what a massive crowd it was.

Trump seemed in great form, with a lot of energy. Nine months from now, the people are going to send a message to the radical Democrats in D.C., Trump said, talking about the midterm elections. He praised Texas for being about family, freedom, God, and country. “And oil and guns,” he added with a smile, to great cheers. “Don’t mess with Texas,” Trump thundered, “because Texas is never, ever turning blue.”

The words “Uyghurs” or “Xinjiang” seem to dominate our media reports on China. In 2021 those two words appeared over 200,000 times in domestic publications.

While American media is fixated on this ethic minority locked up in a Chinese regional internment camp, there is little beyond hand-wringing that we can reasonably do about it.

And despite the Chinese Communist Party being unhappy with this attention, it actually benefits from the misdirection from what really matters to us in America.

Former President Donald Trump returned to Texas on Saturday, vowing the largest Republican-led state in the U.S. "will never, ever turn blue."

"Our country is angry and our country wants to be respected again," Trump told his latest Save America rally in Conroe, Texas. "Hello, Texas, it's great to be back in this great, wonderful beautiful state with thousands of proud American patriots who believe in family and freedom, God and country.

"And by the way, oil and guns – unlike the Democrats."

Trump hailed the largest political rally crowd in the history of Texas, throwing out hats reading "Save America" in the same red of the hats that read "Make America Great Again," the MAGA campaign slogan he has billed since he ran in 2016.
